Goldfinches aren't back yet here, but they were whooping it up at the afrm when I walked through.Lots of seeds around for them though. Little robin's in every day though.
I was just looking at that site you use for bird food @Lyn. Think I'll need more fat balls/suet blocks soon, but I think the big amounts they do are too much for me. I've just cleared part of the shed- don't want to fill it with suet!
The starlings are doing their usual messy best to eat everythingĀ  ;)

Oh absolutely @Dovefromabove- they've been here all year, and the little 'uns have been lovely to watch. They'll be back in once they've exahusted the seeds, and everything's frozen etc. They've been very good at negotiating the new cage which has their big feeder in it.Ā  :)

@Fairygirl if you want suet blocks the best by far are from Wilco, they’ve put their deliver charge up to Ā£5.00 but I always buy several boxes and it still works out cheaper. I’ve bought them from other places and the birds haven’t eaten them.
dont buy their mealworms though, they are £11.11p per kg you can get them on the net for £5 odd per kilo.

We don't have aĀ  Wilco here, so it would have to be online. Thanks for that @Lyn.
I got a box [50] from the place I usually use, and the birds love them - a bit too much!
I know what you mean about some of them not being liked - it's always a bit of a chance if you've not had something before, or someone hasn't recommended a supplier.Ā
I think I got the mealworms locally, and still have quite a lot.Ā  :)

We don’t have Wilco here either, Ā did you get 50 fat balls or suet blocks?Ā
I get through so much food here, some weeks I spend more on the birds than on our food.
There are so many birds here and I can’t not put feed out for them.
As well as mixed seeds/sunflowers/mealworms, I buy a wholemeal loaf every week cut up very small and toasted in any fat or oil I have left over, Ā a very large block of mild cheddar each week then there’s the peanuts.Ā
They get through 2 suet blocks a day.Ā
The pheasants love the toasted bread and chopped peanuts.Ā

Lots of bird activity round here - from wrens to buzzards and most things in between. I had hardly turned my back from leaving dried mealworms out when a jay came in and had the lot.

Nice @steephill. We don't get jays unfortunately, but last time I was on a hill, up at Braemar [Morrone] one flew right across in front of me walking back out.Ā  :)
Yes - fat balls usually Lyn. There's a huge selection of food available round here for birds, so it's normal for them to disappear at certain times. We rarely get blackies during summer, but there's loads tootling around on the verges nearby etc.
We have a small NT garden within shouting distance, so I know they'll get plenty of grub in there, and of course - lots of farmland for everything that it suits. There's bullfinches close by for instance, but they never come into gardens.Ā

The chafinches and bullfinches are not back yet, and of course, the greenfinches now almost extinct apart from up north. Shame😢
haven't seen the woodpeckers for a while or the Jay.
The hedgerows here are laden with fruit, exceptional year for berries, Ā very wet Spring and hot dry summer. But they will all be back. Just wish I could deter the blessed starlings.
@Fairygirl where do you get your fat balls from, they didn’t eat the last lot I bought, I had to crumble them up for the ground feeders.Ā

Hubby bought a box of 150 from B&M bargains for £ 7.99 and the birds are loving them
