    Great cake @Fairygirl .....that must have taken someone some time and a steady hand 🖐🏻.  Been pumpkin carving here 🎃 (Mr C has grown some whoppers this year) ......will post pics when they are lit and on the doorstep tonight.  Also saved the seeds and toasted them in olive oil and maple syrup 🍁 .......yum yum yum.  Never done that before.  Going to make some pumpkin soup this afternoon too 🧡

    Happy shopping @punkdoc ......Mr C is brutal with garden tools but has still failed to destroy our Bulldog fork 👍🏻

    Just going to the gym for a session with an instructor who can show me how to work the machines ......too many buttons for me to fathom solo 🤪

    @Lyn- Dove and Obs couldn't see the pic - maybe due to the devices they're using. Folk are always saying to me she should take it up as a business, but I tell them her anxiety and associated problems would mean she'd never make any money as it takes her ages, and she worries over every tiny thing. She loves doing it though, for friends etc.  :)
    I was digging out a bit where I'm going to put a clematis next spring @punkdoc, and the ground is so compacted, that the stuff I've removed looks about three times the size of the hole. The joys of clay  ;)

    Further to my R4 post above ... I’ve heard rumours that someone’s thinking of running a feature on the invasive Apostrophiosa confusa ... like JKW and the Victorians it seems to be planted by folk who think they know a lot but its invasive tendencies are worrying. Apparently it was first introduced by greengrocers. 😉

    I think it should be done in very early April 🤞

    I blame Greg Wallace...
    Thanks @Busy-Lizzie and @chicky. If it wasn't cake, I don't know what I've been eating for the last few days.... :D
    It was choc cake with a choc ganache in the middle, and the soil was crushed Oreos. Tombstone was rice krispies covered in fondant.
    Look forward to your pix chicky. I used to do all that malarkey when the girls were little. Love squash/pumpkin soup - just finished some. Do you roast it with other veg and then blitz it all?
    Enjoy the gym- if you can....

    I usually do butternut squash soup on the gas hob, quicker and cheaper in fuel than in the oven.

    Melt butter in a saucepan, cook a chopped onion, celery stick, large carrot, a potato, and squash 5- 10 minutes, or until lightly browned. Pour in enough of chicken stock to cover vegetables. Bring to boil. Reduce heat to low, cover pot, and simmer 40 minutes, or until all vegetables are tender. Then blend it and add more stock if needed.  Season with salt and pepper. Sometimes I add a spoon of curry paste.

    Dordogne and Norfolk. Clay in Dordogne, sandy in Norfolk.

    That sounds good too @Busy-Lizzie. I like slow roasting all the veg as it means I can leave it and go and do other things. I usually add some Chinese Five Spice to mine or a curry spice of some kind   :)

    @Dovefromabove - like Onion's 50p a kilo/lb [delete weight measure as appropriate]   :D
    Right - I'm off to hang out washing, and go for a wee walk.
    Be good while  I'm away...and if you can't be good, be careful...

    We (twife & kids) used to make stupid cakes for each other on their birthdays - my wife was the only one of us who knew what they were doing though - so most of the efforts were for the humorous effect rather than 'taste' ... Edible fungus (well, not that edible actually)
