Thanks @Marlorena, I'd love my ZD to ramble too, it's got a trellis fence already. Perhaps I need to step up on watering and feeding and shock it into rambling!
That is beautiful Marlorena! I totally agree, I've been in the garden all day just smiling while I potter. I've just moved a honeysuckle that had terrible aphids, I think the spot was too sunny for it. So that's gone in a partial shade corner against a wall and ive moved an Iceberg rose out of its pot...not before time and that is now against the sunny wall instead. I know you shouldn't move things this time off year but the honeysuckle was so bad with aphids I thought it worth the gamble.
This is the other rose I have which is a mermaid I believe, it's planning to take over the world!! I have another unbroken one too which I bought a few years ago from an open garden in a local village. The chap said he had got it from France, looks a dog rose variety but maybe you will know what it is please Marlorena?
@Lizzie27 … 'ZD' takes years to establish... I know you've had yours for some time, but it's a rose that takes a long time to settle down.. 5 years minimum before you start to see it properly... I've had mine that time and I know I'm still not seeing all that it can do..
@WonkyWomble ...that's a huge rose... but very lovely if it is Mermaid... I grew it once but the thorns were too much for me for a rose of that size too. ..your wild rose there … well it's a stab in the dark really, a rose from France, but I suspect it's rootstock, and they use rosa canina 'Inermis' a lot over there... like this one.. I can't be certain of course, just put it down to a good guess..
@marlorena 😊 I love Mermaid ... we bought it knowing that it was going to be too big for our last garden after a few years but we enjoyed it’s glorious blooms for a while before it outgrew us ... fortunately @WonkyWomble had just moved into the garden flat so we chopped it back, dug up as much root as we could and drove down to Ipswich with it in a dustbin! It was up and over the roof of Wonky’s shed in a trice... now, several years on its the best intruder prevention you could ever want at the end of her garden ... anyone trying to climb over that in the night will still be entangled in it in the morning 🤣

@Paul N, I apologise, that was a grumpy and uncalled for comment of mine earlier and quite out of character for me. I can only put it down to being in quite a lot of pain with a shoulder injury, but that’s no excuse. As many of our mothers would say, if you haven't got anything nice to say, don’t say anything!

@Nollie ..I'm sure he'll appreciate that Nollie.. no problems.. thanks for coming back on it..and I know you were being thoughtful.. I'm easy going, the only thing I try to do is keep my photos in chronological order.. I like to post on the day, and then it sort of flows a bit.. @Dovefromabove … I'd like to see it in full flush... yes no one is going to mess with that..
Many thanks for that bit of information about ZD @Marlorena - I'm reassured now. I've just had a look to see if I could train some of it more horizontal which may be possible a bit later.
Hi Marlorena sorry to have another question but I noticed that you have chandos beauty and I just rescued one from a homebase closing sal only problem is I think it may be dead... There's no new growth on it.... How can I tell? Should I plant it a particular way?
Marlorena, thank you. I'll take some pictures of mermaid when it's blooming...any day now! All my bird feeders are hung from it and no cats dare risk those thorns! successful mission to the nursery, somehow came back with two 🤔
