@Lastboat … I've just noticed another thread where you put up some photos of a white rambling rose that you wanted to replicate...  may I then also suggest that if you wanted a white rambler you choose 'Snow Goose' a David Austin rose... it's quite a charming rose, and what I would do is to plant 2... one centred on each of the 2 trellis sections, as it's not a rampant grower and then you could join them in the middle..
It's a rose I've always wanted to try and aim to do so at some point..

Do consider this beautiful shorter rambler..

Thanks Marlorena, that’s looks lovely, is that a purple penstemon I can see in the background too?

Thank you so much for your response and recommendations @marlorena - I will look those up.

The garden on the other side is my lovey neighbours’ /but they’re happy with whatever I do.

You’re right, originally I was keen on a white rose, then I remembered that eventually it’s going to merge with a white and yellow honeysuckle coming from the opposite direction, so I wondered if a subtle change in colour might be a good idea...?

It’s such a horrible fence that further along, there’s a climbing hydrangea, honeysuckle goldflame, a purple clematis (?), and finally a Zephirine Drouhin rose ready to climb up my new pergola. It’s all recently planted so will take a while to establish but I’m so excited to see how it develops... Any other suggestions based on that mix?!

@Bright star  … yes that's 'Westminster Belle'.. one of the excellent Pensham series of Penstemons... trouble free, easy and hardy... a personal favourite from the Penstemon group of plants..

Here it is with Astrantia 'Roma' another wonderful, easy perennial to grow with roses of all sorts.. and totally slug proof...

@Lastboat   ..that sounds nice... I could recommend so many, it confuses me at times, choice is so wide these days...  and it's always a very personal decision.. I liken it to choosing one's wardrobe..  but if there was one I would leave out, it would be 'Phyllis Bide' because the colour is too similar to your Goldflame honeysuckle...

Here are a couple more from my garden..
'Ghislaine de Feligonde'...  I love this rambler which flowers all summer.. various shades from pink..pink/yellow..yellow.. and creamy white..

..or 'Malvern Hills'.. everblooming but from June 1st to mid July, a sight to behold..

Thank you @Marlorena! Funnily enough, I’ve recently planted Ghislaine de Feligonde in the front garden - can’t wait to see what it looks like in bloom. I particularly love the shape and colour of the leaves. Thanks again - I’ll report back when the big decision has been made... In the meantime, I’ll continue to read your threads with great interest... 😘🌹🌷🌺🌸🌼

I’d like to second the recommendation for Snow Goose - very quick to repeat and the only rose I have ever grown which doesn’t get blackspot.  However, to give its best, it does like a sheltered sunny spot.  Beautiful photos of Munstead Wood, Marlorena.

    ..thanks Jemula..

..nothing to show today, it's pouring, which I'm not going to complain about..

..this English rose... 'The Poet's Wife' is perhaps my favourite yellow rose..

@Eglantyne   thanks so much.. he's a cheeky so and so, digs up the garden when I'm not looking..

Despite the rain, I'm tempted to say ''it's all kickin' off''.. I think that's the right term these days..

..the first flower on 'Kew Gardens' always makes me happy...

'Zephirine Drouhin' .. first flower today..

I couldn't resist Munstead in the rain...

..this Penstemon will soon be blooming too... I also like the velvety purple tinged foliage..

My Munstead Wood is nowhere near blooming yet, Marlorena, but I have noticed the new foliage being redder than before, must be down to all that tea!
