'Mme. de la Roche-Lambert'... a Damask Moss [1851]…nicely scented.. this colour is sometimes described as amaranth or magenta... I love this bloom form, and really must get this rose in the ground.. it's been in a pot for too long..
I think this is a Hairy Shield Bug... they visit plants in the Rosaceae family, sucking the sap... I left him or her to do as it pleases.. may be a female wanting to lay eggs under a leaf... Shield Bugs are usually all green, I see them a lot, this one I thought was not one I'd seen before...
Mme. de la Roche-Lambert is a lovely bloom, Marlorena. So interesting to see lots of different/more unusual roses, very inspiring.
Yes that’s a hairy shield bug (just IDd on another thread). I have a good selection of shield bugs here, most aren’t harmful, but a red and black one plays havoc in the vegetable garden. It’s particularly fond of brassicas.
Mountainous Northern Catalunya, Spain. Hot summers, cold winters.
..not much for today,... little change here.. ..this is my shadiest border, north facing.. about 15 foot long... I don't like traditional shade loving plants too much, so I grow roses... some thrive in these conditions and are none the worse... during last summers heat, this shady border bloomed longer and better than any other.. more moisture at the root... I have about a dozen roses planted along here although not all visible..... the sunny side is the one opposite, as can be seen... that side suffered in the heat last year … the shady one never stopped...
