...that's ok, it just seemed sensible.. no problem.. I really only talk roses... and Charles Rennie Mackintosh is such a beautiful rose, that blooms all summer even in the heat of last year... it's a shame it just lacks a bit of scent that you might expect it to have... otherwise a great rose for the modern garden...
I should apologise I got the name wrong which I've now corrected..
Hi Marlorena I've taken pictures of the chandos beauty. It looks like a bare root. Maybe it's just been taken out of cold storage for selling off... I've planted it in a pot for now. Hopefully us can help me know if I'm wasting my time with it or not. Thank youu!
..thank you..WW.. and yes it's been so nice today..
@Ffoxglove ..very nice rose.. there's nothing wrong with it at all.. just keep it well watered throughout... do not let it dry out.. and it will soon start to recover.. it's very much alive at this stage.. all down to you now..
..nice to cut some roses for a vase.. I just plonk them in,.. no claims about flower arranging..but I try to leave plenty left on the bush too.... 'Vanessa Bell' is a big producer of blooms...
''Surpassing Beauty''. or ''Woolverstone Church'' again.. a climbing Hybrid Perpetual... some blooms are not as full right now due to lack of rain... a rose that lived for best part of 100 years before 'discovery' probably in the late 60's by local garden writer Kenneth Fisk.. and rosarian Humphrey Brooke... it isn't clear who got onto to it first.. by 1980 the late Peter Beales introduced it under this whimsical selling name... Brooke originally referred to it as ''St. Thomas''.. ... I still believe it could be 'Ards Rover'.. bred by Dickson at Newtonards N.I. late 19thC... but doubts remain..
..it has a good strong scent, but not as nice as this one, to my nose.. or a few others I could name...
..that's ok.. I'm sure it'll do well for you with some t.l.c.. just needs to be kept outside a bit shaded from hot sun, and watering... some food after the leaves start to show will be good... best of luck with it.. and keep me informed...
