@djpreece100 ...hi DJ.. and thanks for looking in here..

..I would be concerned about your rose... it should be romping away at this stage.. could you show me a picture of it do you think?.. I can judge better as to it's potential or not... you would be due a refund if something has happened to it.. they have a 5 year guarantee...

I haven't posted photos of my entire plot as yet.. it's really just 3 sides of a bungalow.. kind of in a horseshoe shape, not quite as rounded...   consequently it's split into different types of gardens, within a garden... different soil conditions dictate somewhat.. I'll show what I mean a bit later... got to take the dog out...

Hi Marlorena my daughter has a large expanse of an ugly fence to cover, about 15 feet wide and 10 foot high, I think she should try Paul’s Himalayan Musk as I had it years ago and loved it. What do you think?

@debs64 … I always say, go with your heart.. but in this case.. I would say there are better roses to choose from these days... a massive plant with a short season of bloom... just depends what you're looking for, but as long as you are happy with that, and accept that you get the one big flush... it will certainly make an impact for a time..
...so many lovely roses that will bloom all season... I might plant two different climbing roses and let them merge.. have a think about it...

I noticed on my Verbascums today these striking caterpillars... on researching, I find they are the Mullein Moth caterpillar [Shargacucullia verbasci].. apparently..
Loads of them... I rather like them and they are welcome to munch away...

Thanks for taking the time. Just had a look at DA order history, and they were planted in early March. Lots of other plants have done okay since then; there's a couple of climbers and plants that haven't flourished.

    This is Etoile d'Hollande:

The lack of growth worries me - but I keep hoping that the small lumps will become buds at some stage!

...first flower on an old Bourbon rose called 'Souvenir de Mme. Auguste Charles'...

Hesperis matronalis in mauve, and white.. are essentials with roses I think..

Astrantia 'Roma'... this can be grown in full sun...

'Anne Boleyn' roses, in a group of 3...

@djpreece100 ...thanks for the photo.... well it's still alive... I can't fathom why it hasn't done anything as yet... the soil conditions look rather rough if I might say that, but even so, you should have seen some growth... I have found using an organic liquid seaweed solution gives roses a boost if they're a bit slow... but I think if there is no signs of it growing by say the end of June... I would send the picture to DA and see if they can send you another...
Let's hope it picks up soon. !..

..just to add... another thing you could do, and this is why I would do but you may not feel comfortable about it.. is that I would lift that rose and pot it up in good compost, in as large a plastic pot as you have... keep it well watered and wait until it starts to grow again,, and keep it in the pot for the rest of the summer... growing it on so to speak... and then replant in autumn... it's another way around it,.. not ideal and you shouldn't have to do it... but sometimes one has to do these things..

Thanks for your input re Francesca @Marlorena it's much appreciated. I'm in the market for a new rose but couldn't find many images online to get an idea how it grows.

I'll muse on it for a while and will report back if I go ahead with it. Thanks again😊

'The Ancient Mariner' [Austin]… forms a large bulky shrub... not many thorns and continuous blooming... sweetly scented too... one of my best and favourite roses...
