'The Poet's Wife' is a non stop bloomer... with a citrus scent...
'Gentle Hermione'.. so feminine and graceful...
'The Mill on the Floss'... with Verbascum 'Rosella'.. this rose has an intriguing scent... on a good day, other times.. not so much... it's of fresh sweet cut grass.. if you know what I mean by that.. I'm not sure I do myself... but I can't get enough of it..
'Scepter'd Isle'... with 'Mme. Letuve de Colnet'.. and old Bourbon rose..
'Armada'.. [Harkness 1988].. a floribunda climber.. one of the rare British roses to win a German ADR trial... which means it has exemplary health.. resists all black spot, mildew, rust... the trade off is that there isn't much scent.. … a most floriferous and trouble free rose... apart from needing support.
My hobbies are clearly rose gardening and plant photography... albeit with a rather meagre camera.. it must seem as though I have a huge amount of time on my hands.. I don't really... I have a house and garden to run.. my husband has been poorly for a long time... I had to take retirement for that because he couldn't be left on his own... and so I do everything myself without help... I also have a dog... and I like to make provision in the garden for him too.. it's his natural behaviour to dig pits... and big ones.. suitable for clematis or roses even... ...he does it for his own reasons...he knows where to dig, and I'm sure he realises I left this corner especially for his purposes... but it's an awful mess when it happens... and if I'm honest, I could really do without it... but there you go.. he's happy..
I like a range of Foxgloves... my favourite is the Excelsior giant hybrid strain...or the white 'alba'.. but I buy in other types too.. various strains..
Beautiful foxgloves! Wish I had space for some! I love your blush noisette as well I've often looked at that rose and wanted it. Think I read somewhere that it either doesn't repeat as well or has a short season... How do you find it?
@Ffoxglove ... thanks again.... that information you got is quite the opposite for Blush Noisette... it's a non stop blooming rose, continually producing new shoots full of buds right into late autumn... in full bloom it's scented of cloves and it wafts close by... it's always been a favourite rose for me, for a long time... do consider it for the future ...
Here are a couple pics of 'Blush Noisette' today... a little bright in the sun... this is an historic and interesting rose... scented and always in flower through the season... 6 x 6 foot shrub, climber or rambler even..
