Marlorena - Went to Burton Agnes today and took lots of photos of the Gardeners fair and the walled garden (as I promised you a few weeks ago) - was halfway around the garden before I spotted the No Memory Card message on the camera screen!
The thought was there at least! The garden was in such a good state as well. Oh well we'll be back again soon for the Farm weekend.
I did get a couple of good deals at the fair though.
Geranium Biokovo for £3.50 which was much better price than I'd seen anywhere else
Thanks for the recommendation Marlorena - Comte de Chambord is lovely - interestingly, when I looked it up, Peter Beales recommends it over GJ which they ‘no longer stock’.
Many of my DA roses are largely defoliated by blackspot and taking a break by August anyway, so I am slightly wary of buying more of them, but no idea if others are any better. Guess I will find out soon enough, I have hope for Wild Rover and Julia Child, both BS free so far, seem to cope with the heat and have shrugged off heavy rain... fingers crossed!
Mountainous Northern Catalunya, Spain. Hot summers, cold winters.
Hi Marlorena, I wanted to ask you about your wild rover... Do you grow it as a climber? Most sites list it as a shrub to about 6ft. I really like cluster flowering climbing roses and I'm hoping to find one that will get to 2m. Will wild rover fit the bill or can you suggest anything else? Thanks in advance!
@Ffoxglove ... yes I grow Wild Rover as a climber on an arch.. where it easily gets to 8 foot... it's a very vigorous rose, throwing up frequent thick shoots near the base.. it is prone to some blackspot..
One that is disease free is 'Armada', which I highlighted earlier... candy floss pink flowers in abundance which are totally weatherproof... mine is still in full bloom despite 5 days incessant rain...
....drawback is that the scent is only light... but a most floriferous climbing floribunda... 8 foot or so..

Thanks! Do you know where Amanda is available I can only see it as a shrub on Peter beales. Bombproof roses sound just my speed!
