I really like those two Hebe's - they would look good with roses. We're also enduring heavy rain which is bowing down some of my roses. It's been raining too hard to do anything about it. My three special DA roses are on rose baskets so shouldn't be so bad.
Lizzie / ForestWitch.. thanks so much... glad you liked them..
None taken today so far... still pouring... I've just seen a swarm of swallows or swifts.. I can't tell the difference, but believe to be one or t'other... flying all around here... I was in awe of the sight of them.. flying right around me and fluttering all over the place near my garden... whilst nipping out with the dog..
..this photo is from last year... it's 'Lady of Shalott'... I had to move it and it hasn't recovered in time for this season... I love the striking colour... not everyone would but I wanted something that really stands out in this location..
..some roses stand up well to wet weather,... the rain has almost stopped now after 48 hours virtually non stop.. 'Scented Garden'... 'Rosemoor'... 'The Ancient Mariner'... I had to tie up some canes which makes it a bit distorted... but the blooms themselves are great for cutting... 'Thomas a Becket' a bit bedraggled... 'Bathsheba'... slow to get going this Spring..
I shall have some modern roses opening shortly... hybrid teas mostly... I'm looking forward to seeing those.. 'Scepter'd Isle' takes no notice of rain... Astrantia 'Roma' loves it too... Rhododendron 'Bloombux' is a Bee magnet...
To a lady who would know Marlorena we r just off to get a bag of MPC from our local 'Secret Garden ' Nursery and maybe , take another look at their offer of 2 DA Standard Roses for £59.00. I checked online on DA, the price is good but was wondering if you could name one or two to look out for. Now they might be all sold don't know till we go shortly can you help as they had White ones Yellow ones and one Plummy colour
@Valleys girl Hi.. hope I'm not too late... and thanks for your question and hope you have a great day out.. If you see any of the following... do consider these for standard roses..
..still raining, and I think we've had enough now for a while... we badly needed it in East Anglia, .. it's been the 2nd driest 12 month period, since 1910... I knew it was bad, there's little moisture in the soil... so many roses are producing blooms less than half the size..
'Bathsheba'.. looking quite orangey …
...looking forward to some new blooms opening tomorrow... I have many roses still in bud waiting to open..

..apologies for keep showing it, but just love this rambler..
..'Blush Noisette' each flower is quite small, a few ball a bit in rain, but it still manages to look quite decent overall...
