That Wild Rover is so unusual... absolutely stunning! @Marlorena (Wonder where I can find one...?) edit: I've found it! Definitely on my wishlist for next year!

...well worth considering Janie...   scented of cloves too, …

...this lovely pink rose opened today... another floribunda climber, vigorous and disease free...

I love your blush noisette, Marlorena, it looks like a very happy rose. Huge clusters you have there.

edhelka...thanks... a very reliable rose indeed.. never fails...

I've just watched, or flicked through I should say, tonights GW t.v. and I noticed Monty Don actually planted a rose... they don't do roses that often on this programme for reasons known only to them, so it's a rarity to me... which partly prompted this thread of mine...
...the rose in question... 'Vanessa Bell'... produces masses of yellow fading to cream blooms... with a light citrus scent.... lasts a few days in a vase too..

I thought of you Marlorena, when I saw Monty planting Vanessa Bell. You have posted some beautiful photos of that rose...

@Nollie... thanks Nollie... it's a really good rose...

...and it's a beautiful warm sunny morning here today... the sort that makes you feel glad to be alive... scent in the air, and birds whistling...

'Lichfield Angel'.. such an exquisite bloom form..

..shrub or short climber.. I prefer to grow it on trellis as its better with support.. it's in a trough type container..

..first flower, partially opened, on 'The Poet's Wife'.. a glorious citrus scented yellow.. sun or shade, always in flower...

    ..close up of 'The Herbalist'...

close up of 'Felicia' a hybrid musk rose.. 5' tall by 6' wide..

Derby Day today... I still think it should be on a Wednesday, not Saturday... but let us enjoy the day...   time for tea...

...a close up of 'Zephirine Drouhin'.... don't be put off by what you might hear about this rose..  it just needs 5 years to do itself proper justice..

'Gloire de Ducher'...  a colour rarely seen on modern roses..

..spent petals from The Ancient Mariner...

..'Gentle Hermione' about to open an exotic and deliciously scented flower..

@Fire … I thought I would answer you here rather than the other thread as it might get lost amongst all the lovely photos of roses..
...I saw your pics.. the thorns conform to what is described for climbing Niphetos..  ''thick'' too ...  so not for me to disagree with what you've been told.. so I would go with that...  I suspect it would do better in a greenhouse, but in London it seems to be happy enough..
..it's probably too fussy for where I am.. so enjoy your rose...

'Scepter'd Isle'.. one of the most scented of David Austin roses...
