@debs64 … it is one lovely rose.. I'm just about to post another photo of it..
I also have 'Eustacia Vye' but too early to say on that one..

here's Boscobel opening up... when it's warmer, they are pure pink.. but I like this... a light musky scent..

'Anne Boleyn'.. opened up today... a really lovely rose..

    this is..'Rosemoor'..

    .. 'Charles Rennie Mackintosh'...

..the scent on this 'Surpassing Beauty'.. is as good as any today... a difficult rose to grow.. really for the collector I think..

..first bloom on 'Gloire de Ducher' a Hybrid Perpetual..

..first flower on 'The Ancient Mariner'.. this makes an imposing, large shrub...

    ...more lovely roses...

Marlorena can you advise on a clematis to grow with a climbing rose in a half barrel with an obelisk? Roses will probably be Desdemona and Gentle Hermione( one in each barrel)
If you think it’s a bad idea please say so. Just wanted to prolong the flossing display but of course the roses come first and if you think they would suffer I won’t bother

@debs64 … I wouldn't put you off that... choose clematis from the shorter types like the Boulevard clematis from Raymond Evison…  you could also try clematis 'Piilu' which flowers all the way down the stem....
I plant these very close to roses so a half barrel would do... I think it would look nice... but you must stick with the short ones..
I also prefer to plant clematis from those very small pots you can buy in Spring, even from cheaper outlets, I find they establish really well... but I'm not sure you can get those now...  but these are the types I mean...

...from the Boulevard list I grow 'Corinne'... from the patio/garden list I grow 'Viennetta'.. but I would advise 'Rebecca' from that list for 'Gentle Hermione'..
...and from the Boulevard list, I would choose something like 'Bernardine'... to pair with 'Desdemona' or whatever takes your fancy, or can get hold of locally... I see lots of these in my local garden centres..

..this is 'Amethyst Star'.. new to me.. and a little blurry image..

I do like that 'Felicia', I have 'Penelope' which is another Pemberton rose but a slightly different colour. Always a good grower with lots of blooms.
