    Lol! Hogadvisor!

Good morning all. Second attempt here. I had a nice time away and although there was no sun, it was warm and dry. The coastal garden was interesting with lots of roses, my favourite being a lilac one, and not a mark on any of them. I have never seen so many ladybirds so that is probably why. It was difficult not to step on them but I was as careful as I could be. The Delphiniums almost rivalled yours @nultyphilip224 but note I said almost. I have offered them my five year old Cotoneaster because I am worried it is pot bound and they grow very well at the coast. I hope I can get it out of the pot.

What a shame that you were punished for your al fresco meal but the Anthisan should take the sting out. Fantastic little boat you have there. I can't believe they got through your socks @Valley Gardener . Why do they do this, horrible little things. Sandblasting is very noisy so you did the right thing getting away from it.

@AnniD I hope all goes well with OH at the hospital. I might have been the one to recommend the Home Bargain obelisks. They were less than £4.00 but I have quite a few of them and use them for sweet peas.

@Fran IOM if you are reading this I hope you are having a lovely time.

I wanted to go back and refresh my memory but I am going to post this before it goes. I spent so long last night that I might have been timed out lol. I will write more later when I have been out in the garden. No walk for me today as I am not in the mood. Talk later, and have a good day.

So sorry, I didn't know your posts had come in,my device is a bit slow atm.
Funny restaurant pics Anni! It's brightened my day!

Just look and see if I have any emails! I don't know why it's not telling me.

Been out with the coffee grounds, and it's not feeling that warm surprisingly.

Hi to all of you! Just posting a quick one while I have the chance. Have had to move things around a bit to be able to use the laptop on a flat surface. Have had a quick look through all the posts but haven't really digested everything yet. We got here safely yesterday evening after 3 3/4 hours on the ferry and 270 plus miles drive down to Suffolk. OH did very well and we only had two stops on the way. Rained most of the time but not heavy and then it cleared when we arrived. Today has been very close but thick cloud. Think the sun is supposed to appear tomorrow heralding this heat wave they keep talking about. SIL is going to water the allotment for me but I think the birds are going to go hungry as I forgot to give instructions. My cat does not like me going away and is sitting on the stairs waiting for my return having eaten very little. Buddy couldn't care as long as he gets his long walks, breakfast, dinner and treats.
@AnniD Have had to smile a couple of times today. Someone else has beaten you to it and I noticed there is a new children's book out called The Umbrella Mouse and the author's first name is Anna with possible illustrations by @Valley Gardener. Or have you secretly had one published? Look it up on Amazon books and you are able to click on it and read so much. The second smile came when I was in one store and two shelves were filled with owls around the size of yours but very inferior copies. All I bought was a dying clematis which looks as though it could be saved and was surprised at the till to find it was only 5p! All their bedding plants were dead. Makes me angry.
@nultyphilip224 Had a quick look at the heurhcera link and what a choice there is there. Will definitely be looking further when I get home. I must be eligible to join the Heucheraholics.
@Purplerain I have had problems with emails disappearing trying to let them know we are ok. One I had even saved but where it is saved to I shall never know. It's never the same when you type another one. Son and girlfriend arrived safely back but didn't get their luggage till the following day but thankfully everything was intact.
Hope those affected have stopped itching.
@Valley Gardener Like you, Anni's photos and comments brighten my day and of course the comings and goings of you all.
Must really stop here and will try to post again soon.
Have a good day all and a lovely (hot?) day tomorrow.

@Fran IOM. Well done for getting something posted,it's not easy when you're away with family,or theyre with you.  That was a long journey, are you ok with sea sickness?
Anyway good to hear it was a straightforward trip without mishap.

Just had a look at the book, and at Sam Usher the illustrators work, I like the way he does it.  I've asked my daughter to fish out the illustrations I did for the stories I wrote for my grandaughter, when she was small, meant for  6/7 year old,but my 16 year old grandson would listen to the reading too!
I've painted today.......the guest bedroom!  So pleased I can do step ladder now.

Blowing a hooley here,so not really missed a pleasant hour or so in the garden,as you say tomorrow should be good,Friday even better!  Deck chairs out I think.

    Good evening everyone  :)
@Fran IOM glad to know that you arrived safely, just in time for the 3 day heatwave .
I looked at that book on Amazon and found myself getting drawn into the excerpt. I shall have to tell Mouse that he has been downgraded from the lead character (although we know that Hedgehog is really :) ). It occurred to me after reading that , that l haven't seen him on camera for a while. Maybe he's on tour signing copies of @Valley Gardener 's painting for his adoring fans.
Glad the owls made you smile. 5p for a clematis is a really serious bargain! Which variety is it, do you know ?
Glad the luggage turned up safe and sound, l remember watching a programme about behind the scenes at Heathrow, with all the suitcases going hither and thither on conveyor belts. It's amazing that they lose comparatively few items.

@Valley Gardener, were you not tempted to paint a mural on the guest bedroom wall? (I'm assuming you haven't !) Glad you got off the stepladder in one piece.

@Purplerain , think it must have been the same obelisk,  £3.49 and l reckon it is about 4 feet high. Interesting that there were so many ladybirds at the coast, l have seen very few here and wondered if last year's hot weather had some effect.

As for me, OH needs to go back again next week as consultant is not 100% happy, fortunately he can go to the local hospital this time. Without boring you to death with all the details,  if it's a morning appointment it makes life very difficult. MIL had it "right on her" this morning (quite funny as she didn't realise that l was there at first), and by the time we left we were both totally stressed out, and that was before l drove him to the hospital to catch the bus ! Families, eh 🙄.
Anyway,  enough of my whingeing,  time to have a shower and then cook the fish. Oh, the glamour.

Have a good evening everyone and hope @nultyphilip224 has stopped itching.

Good evening all. It was so hot and sunny today that I had to find my straw hat, and it has to be hot for that battered old thing to be plonked on my head. I remember my sister trying to persuade me to get another one, but I think it is a badge of gardening honour to wear it 😀. I edged the grass and snipped a few bits off the mixed hedge but that's about all I did.

@nultyphilip224 I hope your weather was as good as mine was today. My colourant arrived and I watered some in. I will keep doing it once a week and hope to see a difference in a few weeks. Give Foxy Molly and Whisper a pat from me..well maybe just wave at Whisper lol. Is little B still ok?

@AnniD  that is a worry about OH and his eye but please whinge as much as you like if it helps. Yes, the obelisks are the same as mine, and I find them quite handy. I have a few not too vigorous clematis using them in pots as well as the sweet peas.

@Fran IOM glad your journey went well and well done for the 5p bargain. I was in Morrisons on Sunday and ALL their plants were dead. I couldn't see one thing that could have been saved and it makes me angry too. I hope the weather clears up for you.

@Valley Gardener I haven't looked at the book yet, but I bet your illustrations are as good as any. Have you been out in the garden, or are you still working on the spare room?

Well, that's me done for the night so have a good evening everyone.

  • @AnniD,

It does look like your Hedgehog is reading a Menu,..recommended as in,......................
     ''The Hogadviser '' lol.

You have your Seagulls feeding on anything that is edible and on offer,..here i have Crows,..there are some big trees in the park close to the house and every year dozens of Crows congregate and build nests,..they must be doing this for years,..the Cawing gets quite loud but its not annoying at all,..like in your case with the Seagulls when any food is on offer they suddenly appear and in a very short time they are gone,..as is the food.

Always hard to arrange the change from one pot to another as with your Clematis,..the bigger the plant the harder it is and you don't want to disturb the coming blooms,..i decided today to get rid of my Vlematis 'Dorothy Walton',..granted it has saucer sized blooms but its really just in my way and more trouble than its worth.

You have your day cut out for you today and i hope all goes well,..fingers crossed for OH's results.

    Meanwhile back in the garden

    Lily blooms really have started.

  • @Valley Gardener,

Another warm day here,..as i only had a few things to do in town i quickly finished and set off with Foxy Molly,..the more outings she gets now will make up for the lack of land area to exercise her come Winter.

I wondered today do the Cygnets have a system when following the parents,..or do they just fall in behind,..first one ready or in alphabetical order lol

Ah so you looked up the Castle,..you are fond of Castles i have noted when you are on your outings,..they are all so full of history,..i never slept on the land where the Castle is,..in fact i just realise i only sleep on the Islands as there is less chance of an encounter with anyone.

Yes i have a Camp Gas Cooker,..it comes in its own case so easily stored away,..i also use a Small Gas Stove for boiling water or Veg when the main Cooker is cooking the Meat,..of course i wouldn't be without my Gas Tilly Light,..even though it draws every Moth and insect towards it.

    Surrounded by Ferns.

    Hebe,..in bloom.

  • @Purplerain,

Delighted to read that you had a nice time away at the Sea,..so no marks on the roses,..i wish i could say the same for mine,..Ladybirds would be a great help they get eaten up by all our inland birds around here,..and the Delphiniums almost rivalled mine lol,..its great that you have a new home for your Cotoneaster,..a nice bush to have in a garden between its white flowers in Summer and red berries in Winter,..luckily mine is at the end of the garden and is unable to spread anywhere else,..yours will spread its wings when it gets out of the pot,..a wise choice giving it a bigger home.

The bite and itch are finally gone,..i decided to lance the lump the bite caused as the poison was still held there,..once lanced the itch stopped completely when i applied the Anthisan Cream as it then got into the area that was sealed.

The boat came from ''Lyme Bay'' in England,..it was taken across by Ferry,..its a very compact and comfortable boat to navigate,..it can move quite fast with the 40Hp main engine though there is an smaller engine kept in reserve.

    Delphiniums and Sweet Pea lol.

    Very tall Sweet Pea.

    Hedgehog visiting last night.

    Rose ( Rosa 'Laurie's Golden Orange' )

  • @Fran IOM,

Delighted to see you got there without any mishap,..its a long journey when driving 270 plus miles,..perhaps the Ferry was more relaxing,..driving in the rain is certainly not relaxing.

Your cats will miss you and i suppose will remain on the stairs as a lookout,..the birds will cope of course and as for Buddy,..has it made with his long walks and treats,..including his breakfast and dinner,..i hope Foxy Molly would be the same as i have yet to leave her with someone else or alone in the house for more than two hours so far.

I had the feeling you would see some beautiful Heucheras in that link,..you will get hooked lol.

Ah no more soreness or itch,..until the next time,..harmful little creatures to be able to do so much damage.

Very late posting as i am remaining awake,..i have to be at the far side of the County later today at 0700,..my phone alarm wont set for 0530,..maybe because its now 0225,..oh well i can manage quite well without sleep lol.
