That's a good set up @AnniD. Is that to keep the biscuits dry in the plastic box?Hes a smart little chap for finding them.......followed his nose!

I sent a pm to Fran, but for some reason the connection wasn't there,so will try again now.

@Valley Gardener, it's more to stop cats and the occasional fox scoffing them. Years ago we just left the dish on the patio, and although the hedgehogs had some of the food, they didn't always get all of it. We then put it in the box with just a hedgehog sized hole, but you'd be amazed how flexible cats and foxes can be. Since OH built the tunnel that zigzags, no problem !
One last night was funny, he went all the way round ,then in, sniffed at it and came out again. Did exactly the same thing again, then third time he decided it was the best offer he was going to get and decided to eat.

Bless them! Very resourceful little creatures. Now thinking of cutting a hole in the gate,I don't think the cats will go far if they do get through.

  • @Fran IOM,

The dinner went down very well and sometime in the early hours of the morning i was left home,..none of us drive to the dinner or drive home,..a Mini Bus collects and leaves us home,..so everything is always well organised,..however as it was a very humid night we opted to eat on an open area but well protected against rain and so we enjoyed the cooling air,..that was the problem,..i woke up to scratching my right elbow,..my left wrist,..my right knee bites from the Midge or Mosquito,..i didn't see or hear any of them while we were eating or later nor didn't feel any bites at the time,..one usually hears or feels something,..soooo headed off to the Pharmacy for ''Anthisan'' which worked quick enough.

It must have being some change not seeing my post from the previous night when you checked in this morning,..with the weather improving i will be off in the boat for a full day,..that is always the intention,..however the weather can change to the extent i am unable to navigate home with heavy swells so i sleep overnight on one of the Islands.

The downloading for the new version of Windows Pro was essential of course but only needed for one computer the others will come later,..it takes such a long time to download and one has to be on hand as it starts and stops several times during the download and each time one has to log in.

Good to read that your roses are blooming well,..most of them go through a stage of everything you can name,..Rust/Black Spot/Greenfly/Mildew and at times i have to resort to something other than the Neem Oil Mix,..finding out why certain attacks happen is good as then one can act rather than use some hit and miss treatment of some very pricey spray,..its a long time since i have had any problems but i remember using a mix of Milk and Water for Mildew,..it worked but ponged as the Milk went off,..the old way was just to use Liquid Soap,.. (Washing Up Liquid and Water in a Spray) my Dad and his friends used that very often and seemed pleased with the results.

Lol about the Heuchera new names,..its a relatively new plant created,..since then growers have crossed them again producing Heucherella Plants and so my Heucherella 'Sweet Tea'.

  • @AnniD,

Me posting early knocked everything out of sync lol,..it gets confusing for me when i start posting from after my last post,.. then beginning at the first response to it,..its only when i then look for the next response after the person i replied to that i make the mistake of not going back far enough as the person i replied to may have another post back along the way causing me to miss out on someone in between,..i hope that makes sense lol.

Good thinking about getting the green shading over the greenhouse,..nothing as bad as having plants roasting inside and even with doors and vents open its still like an oven inside,..my primitive system is to hang a bath towel on the part of the clothes line that passes in front of my greenhouse,..having a small greenhouse this works'

Lol at that Hedgehog sitting in the food bowl,..its hardly finished eating and so peeing in the bowl to prevent its opposition from enjoying a meal  :) so much happening with these creatures we don't know about.

    Doggy Walk.

Meanwhile back in the garden,..General View.

  • @Purplerain,

I had a very nice night out alas the waking up to insect bites spoiled the after effects of the night before,..the food was excellent i had Duck with an Orange Sauce,..Roast Potatoes and Sweet Carrots,..most of the group go for Beef Steaks or Gammon Steaks,..some for Chicken,..i love Duck lol.

I hope you have a nice break away from home,..breathe in lots of Sea Air  :)

Shame you have to get rid of all that soil and be put off the Lily due to the Lily Beetle,..such is gardening.

    Rose ( Rosa 'Korresia' )

  • @Valley Gardener,

Ah yes it was a lovely evening,..everything went well apart from the insect bites,..maybe it was the Brandy and Ginger Ale i was drinking that attracted them  :)

Touch wood no mishaps with Little B and ''Whisper'',..all down to me closing in ''Whisper'' when she is being fed in case Little B decides to arrive at the back door and announcing herself to one and all,..that happened this morning,..then when ''Whisper'' is finished eating and ready to head out,..ensuring Little B is not just outside looking in the opposite direction,..they both have me on my toes,..Young birds can be very trusting as they have not encountered a near miss,.. nor really understand cats eat them.

A nice Foxglove all on its own at the end of the garden.

Just behind it a freshly bloomed Arum Lily.

    Some No ID Pinks.

    More Lily Blooms.

You can spot the difference with the two different roses in bloom from the same bush,..i think i will have to move the bird feeder as the crumbs from the Suet Balls are making a mess on this bush.

The same bush from afar,..it produces a multitude of blooms.

    Good morning all  :)
Weather here is heavy rain, very grey and humid. Plans for going to the tip are on hold (my life is full of excitement !).
@nultyphilip224 glad you had a good time in spite of the insect bites. They are sneaky little beggars aren't they? The food sounds delicious. Thanks for the photos of Foxy Molly :)
Not much else to say except hope @Fran IOM @Valley Gardener and @Purplerain have a good day, whatever you are up to - and hope you have better weather than me !

    Hi everyone tuning in!
We too have rain,@AnniD , but very humid,so the block delivery for bottom terrace will be a wet affair, may have to postpone it like your tip trip!

@nultyphilip224 good to hear you had a nice meal out,it sounded lovely, and rounded off with brandy......mmm. That's good not having to drive.

I think the biters have extended over the pond,as my ankles are covered in tiny itchy bites, and that's through socks.  The pic of Foxy Molly having a paddle really appealed to me,I wanted to join her to cool down the bites!

The lilys and roses are looking gorgeous in your garden,I was wondering what to use on the blackspot, the neem oil isn't quite doing it.

I'm fascinated to think you sleep on an island......do you moor up and sleep on your boat,or take a tent and sleeping bag??  I was always worried the anchor wouldn't hold, and we'd drift out into the open sea,so never slept well.  Sleeping on the Islands in Poole harbour wasn't viable as wardens used to come along,so you had to beat a hasty retreat back to your boat!!  All good fun when we were young!I

I hope a pleasant time is being had by @Purplerain and @ FranIOM,and that Fran did the long journey without mishap.

Have a good day despite rain.
