Very pleased to read that you have sunshine and going to make the most of it.
Thursday we had 21C=70F,..a tad milder today at 18C=66F
I like your Shallow Rock Plant Pot,..very Tropical Climate appearance,..the container will hold the heat of the sun plus the sun itself will have your plants thriving in a short time.
I had a good walk again today,..another 2 hour trek fast walk in the first half then a relaxing walk for the second half.
The meadows are giving off a Vanilla like scent,..from the white Meadow Sweet Plants,..sometimes called Goats Beard.
Looks like we are all having good weather,..blooms are opening at a very fast rate with the sun shining more often,..there is a difference with mu Delphiniums this year in comparison to other years,..i have less of the very dark Delphinium 'Bluebird' and more of the lighter coloured one,..perhaps it will change before the Summer is over,..i prefer the darker blooms.
Lol at you being hesitant to split your Hosta,..its understandable though,..when you have many of the same species one tends to experiment like i do,..i have taken a cutting of my Chilean Lantern Tree and so far so good it seems to have taken.
Your Son managed to get a lot of work completed in your Secret Garden,..that was a good idea to brake down a small part of the wall built of roofing tiles and made steps so you can reach the roses,..sooo its going to be The Roof Garden oh yes you will be due to post some images soon.
Hedgehog eating the cats food.
The following night its a different one,..drinking the water i leave out.
Rose ( Rosa 'Korresia' ),..this bush has produced a bumper crop of blooms so far.
Yes thankfully Little B is still in one piece,..getting cheeky though,..i had fed her and about an hour later i could hear her clucking outside the back door,..looking for more food of course,..she did get more lol.
Amazing the difference in bloom time with our Hydrangeas yet we are only across the pond,..mine are all showing the start of blooms,..i have three Mopheads and one Lace Hydrangea,..the Mopheads were all pinks so that's why i decided to change one to Blue,..i have two more in my working area which should really have being given away before now as they are taking up room,..both are about a Metre high..
You should try the colourant on one,..the change to blue might appeal to you.
Good Morning all. Think I will be posting first today considering I have been up since 5am! Yes Son and girlfriend have now left so feeling quite bereft but no doubt in a few days I shall be back in the usual routine with an allotment to look after. Dog and cat can't quite understand why they had such an early breakfast. @nultyphilip224 I recognise that look on Whisper's face. Just hope little b keeps out of her way. Foxy Molly could quite easily get lost in that long grass. I was rather annoyed that the foxglove growing out of the wall outside had been pulled out. More than likely kids going home from school. Will definitely grow more foxgloves next year as they bloom for so long and fill up a nice space. Hedgehog has a lot of cat food to get through it's a wonder Whisper doesn't complain. Is that a toy hedgehog next to him or one of Foxy Molly's toys? Very pleased with the rubbish my son got rid of yesterday all piled into van of SIL and down to the tip. @Purplerain What goodies did you get planted out from the SGC. I still have one which I haven't planted out. Always a bit dubious as to whether they are mature enough. I am very pleased with my Stipa pony tail fern. It has grown so quickly and sways in the wind. At the top of the allotment my son some time back had decided it would be ideal for ferns and grasses so have plenty of those. Daughter took photo yesterday of pony tail so waiting for her to send it to me by email. @Valley Gardener Bet you were pleased to see your frog. Hope there will be lots more to follow. Think you should be having good weather today. @AnniD Hope you get to plant out all your bargains from yesterday. The weather for Monday and Tuesday doesn't look good at all.
Have a good day all. No doubt I shall be yawning before long. Sun is shining once again can't complain.
Good morning all. You are first to post this morning @Fran IOM and I was thinking about you as I made my coffee. I am sure you will miss the family, but they will be back in no time. I planted out the fire chief heucheras and they really are lovely, also the anthemis E C Buxton, along with various dahlias. I have a salvia amistad to plant, but I remember Monty saying to put that one in poor soil so I am looking for a suitable spot.
@nultyphilip224 the close up of the hedgehog is amazing! As you know, I have never seen one in real life, but your photos make up for it. I am going to look for colourant today when I am out and test it on the smaller hydrangea. It will be quite exciting to see the changes. Your delphiniums are lovely but like you, I find the dark ones to be more dramatic.
@Valley Gardener it's great that you have a little frog. I remember you telling us that OH brought some frog spawn home for the pond, and now at least one is hopping around. Nature is great.
The hedgehogs are so entertaining Anni and I look forward to your captions every time you put up a photo. I am off for my second coffee and then out to the garden. It's looking like another good day. Have a good one everybody.
Good morning everyone , and a beautiful one it is too. @nultyphilip224 that expression on Whisper's face made me laugh as did the photos of Little B. Blackbird pilates perhaps ? Your hedgehogs are equally fearless - I like the tiny hedgehog, is it like a little restaurant sign ? I must get one for mine ! Haven't checked the camera yet, but l know one turned up about 9.45pm and made good inroads into the food. OH reported this morning that the cat biscuits were left again 🙄. I didn't bother to crush them as the previous lot were eaten. Never mind.
@Fran IOM you did have an early start. I can appreciate you feeling a bit down, it always takes a while to get back into your old routine but it will come. Maybe a visit to the SGC site might help a little Forgot to say that when l was in the GC yesterday l saw heucheras and thought of you! They only had the two varieties "Plum Pudding" and "Lime Marmalade", but they looked very striking together.
@Valley Gardener hope the jackdaws are still foiled by the flying saucers . Their loss was the sparrows' gain !
@Purplerain, hope you have a good day without too much sneezing .
Oh heck! I'm the last one up,but now on third cup of coffee. @nultyphilip224. My goodness what deep grass,Foxy Molly has almost disappeared, bless her,but looks as though she's loving it. Good to see the swan family are all still together.
Yes those yellow roses in clusters have been a picture this year,I've noticed them in the background on several of your pics.
A wonderful close up of the hedgehogs face, these really are fantastic images, the one with his whole body over the food, priceless! I've only seen a live one two or three times, when we lived in a very rural area of Brittany. I expect there are some outside in the lane here, but our garden is very enclosed, with the gate near the ground,it's difficult if you need to keep cats in. I saw a baby squirrel yesterday, the first one I've seen in this area,he was crossing the road into Lidls. Was tempted yesterday by a little Olive tree in Lidls, but thought £11 + was a bit too much,it seemed that you were paying for a fancy Hessian bag that the roots were contained in,and tied with a bow! Why?? I'm quite pleased with the rock pot it was £9.99 from the local GC. Found some old bricks covered in coal dust to lift it up a bit,I also found a coal pick in the garden,OH says he'll sand off the rust and maybe hang it somewhere.
@AnniD Did you get anything yesterday at the GC,apart from lawn stuff. The plum pudding heuchera is one I have.....split to make several, following Philips instructions. Tut tut......not crushing the cat biscuits!
@Fran IOM my thoughts are with you, get the bedding washed, then go to your secret garden,it will lift your spirits a little, especially when you view the grass improvements. Did you see Monty last night, singing the praises of foxgloves? He thinks they are wonderful. He was cutting down his Cranesbill so I guess I should do the same now,but the bees love it.😕
@Purplerain crikeybobs! You've been busy with planting, well done making the most of the weather. Have you anything climbing over your arch? I noticed it was similar to mine. They are great for a bit of height,as are the oblisks.
I hope you all have a good day before the storms return.😟

Good evening all, hope everyone had had a good day We have had practically wall to wall sunshine, the solar lights should be very bright tonight . OH has cut the top of the thuja hedge, he asked me about the sparrows that l thought might have been nesting in it, but l think they have long gone. The number of birds visiting has dropped right off, (no sign of ET) , apart from you know who of course. He has spent some of the day sunbathing on top of the wall, and then graciously agreeing to come for some food from time to time. We painted the plant stand that my big trays sit on, sadly we didn't have any Willow, so it had to be black. Looks pretty good though, if l say it myself.
@Valley Gardener, my bargains were a chilli plant "Red Demon" from Aldi, and from the GC a salvia "Blue Marvel", Dianthus "Peach Party" and reduced pinks "Pink Ruffles" and "Letitia Wyatt" (although l have a sneaking suspicion she's not Letitia at all.) I have taken 10 cuttings of those 2, so even if they don't all take, it's been worth a try.
Shattered now, but have been sitting on the patio with a glass of elderflower cordial waiting for the lasagne to cook. It's a ready meal, please don't judge me 😊.
@ AnniD those ready meals are a godsend when you've been otherwise occupied all day,I don't blame you, there's more to life than cooking. Funnily enough I was just thinking today how pleased I was with my Dianthus,no idea what it's called, but it's ten times better than last year when it was planted,so a good buy for you I would say. OH has made a start on the lower terrace,to be stepped down then gravelled with slabs bedded in,with spaces between. It catches the afternoon sun. 2 tons of gravel to be distributed possibly sometime next week.......we're too old for this!
