Good Evening all. Been a funny sort of day. Quite promising to begin with but then very thick cloud and muggy and when I went on the allotment the wind got up and it felt really cold. Whilst there was no sun I took advantage of being able to give everything a good watering. If it does rain I don't think it will be heavy. @nultyphilip224 How nice for you to be invited out to dinner especially when you have been stuck in the house all day. Do hope you enjoy it and you won't need to be posting in the early hours when you get home. You must have some patience with all your downloading but I suppose if it is something you need to do better when you are housebound. I am pleased that some of my roses are really good especially the white climbing ones on the pergola and a David Austin called Grace. Some are very moth eaten and think greenfly or something had a go at them. I should really put some specs on to examine them now and again. I would love to know how many different heucheras there are as every time someone posts a photo it has a name I have not heard of before and yours "sweet tea' is one. @AnniD Maybe Mr H just looks at the picture and can't read the writing? Don't think my cat would be able to squeeze through there but it's amazing what they can do. The owl looks as though he is offering you a rose in thanks for a good home. He has weathered well. Your garden is beautiful. No wonder you can't find any spaces. That's what I hope my allotment will look like in time to come but very much doubt the grass will be able to compete. All the work of OH no doubt. Hope you are feeling better. I felt the same but put it down to yesterday's early start catching up with me. @Valley Gardener When I tried to grow Cat grass I didn't think it would ever appear it took so long. If I can remember I don't think it was a huge success. When it has been eaten so it keep on growing I wonder. You had a pressie of homemade fat balls and I got a pressie of homemade redcurrant jam from the owners of plot next door to me as they had taken some of the tools that my son had been going to take to the tip! @Purplerain I was disappointed with my photo of the Pony tail fern as it was quite windy at the time and it just looks like a bad hair day. Will have to get another when there is no breeze. If I had nigella growing in my garden I don't think I would consider it a weed as it looks quite pretty and brings in a bit of colour. I have a photo of a mauve flower but I think it's aquilegia.
Enjoy the rest of your evening all. Think an early night beckons.
Evening all @nultyphilip224 confused me, posting early. Doesn't take much mind! Hope you have a lovely evening, always nice when someone else does the cooking .
@Fran IOM, l feel the same as you. It's been a very strange day weather wise here as well. I have just been watching the Countryfile forecast and it seems we are in for one of those hot and muggy weeks. I am already planning the watering but only for things that really need it - surely all that rain will have set most of the plants up for a hot spell ? Could have done without it to be honest, we have one of those weeks next week, so we are going to have to pace ourselves! I am feeling better, picked up after lunch. I think it was just a poor night's sleep and the late start. Gawd knows what l will be like next week !
Good morning all. It must have been raining overnight as everything looks damp, but no damage done, just Summer rain. It is very warm and muggy as forecast but at least there is no wind which I hate more than anything.
@nultyphilip224 did you enjoy your night out? I hope so as it can get really boring when you are stuck indoors all day. When that happens to me I put on things like Crime Scene Investigation and other morbid rubbish lol. I laughed at your description of Anni's fairly new owl and also that you didn't want to hurt the feelings of Whisper and little B. I think us gardeners are all a bit mad at times lol. Thanks for the link on lily beetle but I am going to give them a miss in future. I had to dump and distribute a lot of soil in various bins as it's not going back into the garden.
I will order the colourant today as I am intrigued and love the look of your hydrangeas.
@Valley Gardener I don't know if you saw the Chocolate Vine thread, but people were discussing your plant and the overall consensus is that it is controllable, so you should be fine with yours.
@Fran IOM I hope you got a good nights sleep after your busy weekend and the description of your bad hair day fern is funny. I am sure it is silky and sleek when it is not windblown.
@AnniD I hope you are prepared for your busy week and feeling better than you did. I will catch up with you all soon as I am going down to stay at the house by the sea, so enjoy your Monday whatever you decide to do.
Hello everyone. As you say Purplerain,a bit of overnight light rain, which is good. Thank you for the Chocolate thread,I hadn't seen it,very informative. I'm much more worried about the way the Buddlea has taken over! I think when Autumn comes it will have to go,I've already planted my Philadelphus out in the lane!!
Have a lovely time away Anni, hope the garden is ok whilst you are away, and Mr B and hog.
Fran I'm looking forward to some more pics, intrigued by this ponytail grass,it would be nice to see your first cut too!
Philip I too hope you had a lovely evening,it makes a change not to have to prep meals yourself. I hope baby B is still ok,why are they so tame? We now have one visiting, and it's much too trusting,I'm fraught when it flies down onto the ground, gathering up the cats to keep inside!
Just a quickie this am,OH has gone to play golf, and I want to get oil on canvas without feeling guilty about not doing housework........😊

Good morning everyone @Purplerain, have a lovely time by the sea. It's been a long time since l breathed in the sea air, hopefully l might before the end of the year, you never know. Have instructed OH that we need to get the green shading over the greenhouse in the next couple of days, don't want to be rushing around trying to do it in 28 degrees heat ! Hedgehog dish is empty again. Right, another week begins. Hope @nultyphilip224 had a good time last night, and that @Valley Gardener and @Fran IOM have a good day. Laters x
Sorry @Valley Gardener, it's Purplerain who is away, not me (though a break would be lovely) ! How could l leave Mr B and co....🙄 Housework can be done Christmas week 😁 , enjoy your painting !
@Purplerain, so sorry,I thought it was Anni going to the seaside! Have a lovely time,is it your daughters place? I'll have to look back at the pics you posted,I remember the garden by the sea,is it east coast? Anyway enjoy!

I will be back tomorrow so not really "away" lol. The house by the sea belongs to my son and DIL. The only thing I have to do is make sure that Charlie and Chummy are indoors and well stocked up with food. I won't forget my toothbrush 😀.
Good Morning all. Looks like you have all beaten me to it this morning. Started very cloudy again but the sun has now broken through. The temperatures are expected to rise as the week progresses. @nultyphilip224 Seems strange not to see your posts first thing so well done for getting them done yesterday so we were not "wondering". @AnniD Sounds as though you have a busy week ahead. Glad you are feeling better. It was strange weather yesterday. We haven't really had enough rain to soak the ground but it rained a bit last night only because I had hosed everything down. Typical. @Purplerain Was awake quite early the last couple of mornings which I don't mind as long as I feel like getting up. Will have to get another photo of the pony tail fern when it is still and used a comb. Enjoy your day by the sea. @Valley Gardener Have quite a few photos but don't want to bombard Philip with too many at a time so will take it slowly. Son and girlfriend have arrived safely home but without their luggage! They are hoping it will be delivered today. Just pleased to know they are safe.
Have a very busy day ahead. Sending a PM to you all.

Have a lovely day in the sun or by the sea.
And then decided it probably wouldn't.....
