@AnniD. That's a good photo! Clicked on it and it enlarged and Percy and I were nose to nose. My Father's middle name was Percy. On their first wedding anniversary my Father bought my Mother a canary and they called it Percy! Think it lived to be 13 years. Can still remember it. Was going to ask if that was your conservatory or a very, very posh greenhouse and it is a very, very posh greenhouse. No wonder you keep your plants in there. The pigeons only get dropped seed as I have nowhere to put anything for them alone. Couldn't get any fat balls last weekend so stuffed the feeder with brown bread and it's lovely to see the jackdaws pull a piece out, not eat it, and fly off to their nest.
I have made a note of a few plants from the SGC email but can't remember now why and what they were so will have to go back. There just isn't any more room, yet.
@Valley Gardener  I am rather fond of pigeons too. Many years ago I had one call to see me and he was such a beautiful colour. Like an autumn brown. He used to feed out of my hand and came every day but in time all the pigeons in the neighbourhood found out and OH didn't think it would go down very well with the neighbours  (had to agree) and I never saw him again.  :(
While I am posting messages are coming up to say other posts have been made so I will save draft and have a look.
Three new posts while I'm still struggling.
@Purplerain Don't know what I do wrong but others seem to be able to type long posts and get in before me so that what I comment on is stale news! Hope you were able to find something else for your dinner. The house would have to burn down before I noticed if I was on the allotment but at least I would be able to see it.
Will post this now. Been a lovely sunny day and spent two hours "over the road".

  • @AnniD,

Percy or Petronella,..a very healthy looking Pigeon,..you'r building up your visiting pet numbers,..then who am i to talk my numbers are also increasing lol.

I get Bees landing on my hand pretty often when taking a close up picture,..if i just remain still they stay for a short time then fly away without stinging but its hard to stay still knowing a sting could happen very easily,..i would presume that there are angry Bees as well as mad Bees,..but to shake one off a hand could easily provoke a sting,..so far so good no sting,..last time i was stung was when i was about 10 years old,..right on my lip.

My Hedgehogs being arriving for food in the early hours of the morning means i miss out on the visit,..lo and behold who has started eating the food i leave out for the Hedgehogs but the new feathered friend,..be it a Thrush or young Blackbird,..hard to say as young Blackbirds sometimes have that Thrush Like markings.

A verbal warning is always enough for Foxy Molly as she knows the tone of my voice,..though i think she may have got worse with her previous owner and she hasn't forgotten by her reaction when she knows she has done something wrong,..like biting me lol.

A new bloom opened today Clematis 'Dorothy Walton',..it has a big bloom.

  • @Purplerain,

When i read,..on with the wellies,.. i was sure you were going to go into action in the garden,..sorry to read that the holes dug were filling up with water as quick as you dug.

Not so sure i really want the Ox-Eyed-Daisy around seeing it spreads so easily from self seed,..i have a Chinese Lantern which is as bad if not worse so i have it in a pot and on concrete so it can not spread its roots.

So your favorite was Rosa 'Handle' from yesterdays images,..another image captured today.

I like your Rosa 'Paul's Scarlet',..its not always easy to capture a good image of a red bloom so you did it justice.

Digitalis 'Camelot Cream',..is aptly named,..i wouldn't know the name of any of mine,..they were from a packet of seeds back in 2009 or thereabouts.

Those in the image below were cut off the main spire last Spring and have come along very well,..not very tall but they may be bigger next season.

  • @Valley Gardener,

So you also were stung by wasps,..it seems there are more people stung than i realised,..plus you got a Bee sting,..after my Bee sting when i was about 10 years old i had a war against Bees for a long time,..up to the age of 17 or 18 years old,..i used to catch them as they were on a flower,..each wing caught between my thumb and forefinger so they couldn't sting me,..then place the two wings in one thumb and forefinger while i extracted the sting with a tweezers,..boys can be cruel  >:)

No bruise from Foxy Mollies bite,..just red skin as she didn't break the skin,..oh not sure if that's a young Blackbird or a young Thrush.

Like you i had Greenfly yesterday but as it rained there was no sign of them today,..though they will return and i will be watching for them.

Congrats on the quick sale of your two Plastic Sheds,..30 replies as well,..i bet that surprised you,..i wish i was that lucky when selling things,..oh make a Patio from the space they left,..you will enjoy it better than a car space.

After all the rain the Campanula is really putting on a show but it will do better with some more sun.

''Whisper'' asleep at my feet last night,..she was still asleep at 0700 this morning,..no sign of her tonight.

  • @Fran IOM,

That Cape Fuchsia  'Phygelius Funfare Orange' gives a great display of its cigar shaped blooms later in summer,..there is a Lemon coloured one as well.

The images below were captured in June 2018,..since then i removed the entire bush to make room for Tall Salvia plants,..i still have another bush the same.

Its amazing how all your Foxgloves are the same colour seeing they were purchased in different places,..maybe they got them from the same grower,..i must collect seeds from mine so i can give them to anyone who wants extra colour  :)

Oh i hated Boarding School,..there were rules not written down but when you broke one that's when you knew it,..run by Clergy so i was lucky to only have been beaten and tortured by them,..they paid for it some years back as i put in a claim against them and was awarded a huge sum of money for post traumatic stress,..namely not being able to sleep,..that's where my sleepless nights started,..to stay awake in order to prolong the starting of a new day,.. became a habit from back then.

  • @granma,

Ah yes that rose is indeed the one you named,..i did ask could anyone suggest a name when it first bloomed and you were the only one who responded,..so its named unofficially 'Rose (Rosa 'Peachy Sorbet Melt' ),..another image of it below.

  • @Valley Gardener,

I nearly forgot about the request for the info on Hellebore Seeds.

Its best to sow them as soon as the pod opens,..or to be on the safe side remove the pods just before they open otherwise you will not see them when they fall to the ground.

Sow the seeds in a mix of Seed Compost,.. mixed with Grit,.. and cover with Chicken Wire or something similar to prevent birds from disturbing the seeds,..leave the seeds outside to go through they seasons until the following Spring when the seedlings will appear.

Good morning all. The sun is shining and it looks as if it's going to be a fine day. When I was out in the garden yesterday I noticed that the excess water had drained away quite nicely so today I will finish off the planting and then tackle the weeds that have sprouted up.

@nultyphilip224 I don't know what to say about your boarding school experience except that I am glad you made them pay. How humans can be so cruel to small children defeats me. Horrible bullies.

Being stung on the lip by a bee must have been painful. I love bees but not wasps. Yes, be cautious with the ox eye daisy. I planted one over 20 years ago and have never been able to get rid of it. They are easy to pull up though, and quite pretty when they flower.

I am off to make my second coffee and I hope you enjoy my "greenhouse". Have a good day everyone.

Good morning everyone  :) Looks like today will be a washout as far as gardening is concerned, the forecast is for heavy rain and wind with the possibility of thunder and lightning later. The joys of summer, eh?
OH has just put Mr B 's breakfast out as he has been chuntering,  he had to apologise for the late delivery of breakfast 😁
Right, l am off to check everything is secure before the weather arrives, and will have my breakfast (l know where my priorities lie), then will have a proper look at @nultyphilip224 's posts.

    Good Morning all.
Lovely sunshine at the moment but don't think it is going to last as rain forecast by midday. Looks like I shall have to catch up on indoor jobs after all. Will still feed the birds rain or no rain.
If @Valley Gardener is thinking of posting I may just get in before her. Can't win can I as a message came up to say a post had come up but @Valley Gardener has posted on PM by mistake. We are all getting so confused or maybe not all of us.
@nultyphilip224 Have been trying to work out where Whisper has got her head. Think I can see her nose. I have never seen that fuchsia growing anywhere over here. I bought some foxgloves locally and I think I got some from the SGC website. My tallest is 4 inches short of 4 foot. I was shocked to learn of your childhood at boarding school. There must have been so much of it going on but nothing done about it. So glad you were able to get some recompense. Can understand why you can't sleep. On the post
"Does Box Caterpillar always return after initial infestation" the poster mentions the use of Neem Oil to spray on it. Do you think your word is getting around? Can't imagine anyone else knowing what you do.
@Purplerain Our rain is yet to come. Hope you can have a dry day for a change referring to the rain of course. I am rather intrigued by your post on the Forum Moderation. You didn't say anything! Did you change your mind at the last minute and post instead of deleting? Your greenhouse is much bigger than mine! Mine consists of a tray next to a window.  :(  Maybe that's why I don't have much luck with my "pot ons".
@AnniD Looks like we'll both be getting wet today. I am sure you have plenty of other things to do like me which give you satisfaction when done but I think we would prefer to be in the garden. I am so glad you were able to take your superb greenhouse with you when you moved. It must be the envy of the neighbourhood.
@Valley Gardener Having to look elsewhere for your post! This morning the last of the "mountain" of soil in the middle of the grass area has disappeared not actioned by me I hasten to add. Even though there is not much grass showing yet it looks amazing in comparison to what it did. Can't wait to get the mower out but could be some time and no doubt I shall have to have some lessons!. When the time comes I shall make some comments. Hope I haven't missed anything as I had to memorise what you said in your post.

Have a good day all and hope the weather isn't as bad as we are expecting.
