Good morning everyone. I have the day to myself so it will be on with the wellies and out in the garden for me. It's still dull, but dry with no overnight rain so hopefully the ground won't be as wet as yesterday. I was out there trying to plant some overdue pots but every time I dug a hole, it was filling up with water! I gave up in the end.

@AnniD your post made me laugh this morning and I bet your greenhouse would give Chatsworth a run for its money any day. Along with the Foxglove Alba, I went a bit mad and ordered various other Digitalis including one called Lanata Cafe Creme. I bought it because it's quite ugly and sticks it tongue out so I felt sorry for it. The other seeds were Erysimum cheiri blood red covent garden, Meconopsis Lingholm, and Delphinium true wild form. I hope things are ok with your parents as you sound quite busy with lots to do.

@nultyphilip224 I am sure Foxy Molly felt awful after biting but she knew it was wrong and tried to make it better by licking you. I love all the roses, but Rosa Handle is the star of the show for me today. Be careful with the Ox Eye Daisies they self seed everywhere.

@Fran IOM and @Valley Gardener I hit post before I was ready and the save draft option has vanished so I won't hang about on this post. I hope you are going to have a lovely day.

Finally, a couple of rubbishy pics from yesterday:

Top one is a view through a trellis with Pauls Scarlet at the front, and the other is Foxglove Camelot Cream in the rain.

    Good morning all.
Like you Anni I'm at a loss for what to say, 're the beautiful uplifting pics!
I think you'll have to get your rolling pin out and crack up the biscuits in a polythene bag,for the hogs. (I have to get a new one,as I've been rolling out clay with mine)
Like you,I've been stung a few times by wasps, and only once by a bee, when I was a small child, very painful.

I think your roses are so gorgeous @nultyphilip,is it a baby blackbird? Gosh I hope he's safe from Whisper. Poor Foxy Molly, she obviously didn't mean it,I expect you are bruised though? Is your special display coming on now? Such a lack of warmth though,it's not helping in this neck of the woods at all.
I found huge clusters of greenfly on my Penstemon "Huskers Red",I've never had that on a Penstemon before, needless to say it's been blasted with Neem Oil,and most dropped off immediately.

Yesterday we sold two plastic sheds,(the new wooden one replaced them) OH put them on facebook, and we had 30 replies. First come first served,so they went a hour after being put on.
The idea was to give us space for a hardstand for the car,but now thinking more of a small patio,to catch the late sunshine, and surround two sides with evergreen shrubs!
I hope we stick to that!

@FranIOM  hope your grass is looking good.
@Purplerain.  What are you up to today?😁😁😁

    Good Morning all.
As usual I am the last to join in. Always have a look when I first get up and then wait till I have my coffee to post. That usually means that I am going to repeat what others have said.  :(  The sun is shining so a promising day ahead.
@nultyphilip224  Glad you haven't got a bug, flu or otherwise. Neem oil indeed. Hope your Ox-eye-Daisy takes well. Never seen that fuchsia before. Did you enjoy Boarding School? Glad Foxy Molly didn't go on the naughty stair. Maybe Whisper is keeping an eye on things. Like we all say yet more stunning photos. My son didn't want the soil on the grass to be walked on till we had a heavy downpour and more chance of the grass growing through. Going to cover with grass seed and hope the birds don't eat it all.
@AnniD  Will the fuchsias stay in the greenhouse or do you put them out later? Have you looked at the latest SGC email? Sounds as though you are going to be really busy today and maybe no time for the garden.
@Purplerain I am becoming quite keen on Digitalis as they seem to grow well for me but not as tall as Philips. One of mine has flowers at the bottom, then buds, then more flowers followed by more buds. Looks rather strange. Annoyingly mine are almost all the same colour in spite of buying them in different places.
@Valley Gardener The subject of sheds comes up again! Bet you were pleased to get rid of the old ones. Hope you get your patio and green shrubs.

    Have a good day all.

@Fran IOM Re: being the last to post, you know what they say, "Save the best until last ". The fuschias will stay in the greenhouse in the very slightly shadier part, that's the plan. They are just to add to the begonias and pelargoniums. With luck I can take cuttings later on. I looked at the SGC email and got on the website, but I didn't place an order  o:) Common sense prevailed (for once).
@Valley Gardener I thought for a moment there you meant take a rolling pin to the hedgehog !! Good idea about crushing them, I will give it a try. Forget the space for the car, go with the patio, that's my advice.
@Purplerain Parents are okay, thanks for asking. I'm always pretty shattered by this time on a Thursday though. I'm more worried about you, buying foxglove seeds because you felt sorry for them. Mind you, I'm a fine one to talk. That Paul's Scarlet rose is a lovely colour.
I couldn't find anything particularly interesting hedgehog wise, so I thought I'd post this instead.
Meet Percy (or possibly Petronella, I have no clue).

@AnniD.  What a gert fat pigeon (as they would say in Dorset)  I must admit I like them,we put down the very wild bird seed for the pair that visit, which has to be served on the path,so it doesn't grow corn etc.
What's in the background? Is it your pergola on the left or next door? Love the oblisks!
Can you drag up the page for Helleborus seeds, and what to do please?
I've just discovered mine are now opening up their pods to reveal the lovely polished looking seeds. I can't remember whether I have to plant them later or now. They will all be the same kind, but will look nice under the Eucalyptus.
    Many thanks VG.

hi Philip ,Is that my  named rose I see :/ peach sorbet :) ?

Ii have just ordered some seeds ,white of the same flower.so I suppose I will have to wait for another four year germination rate     .,, I'm going to try some in the propagator   this might be quicker .I didn't have one last time . when I got the other seed four years ago.

The flowers of my mystery plant can be eaten in salad .

@Valley Gardener, all the pigeons seem to be a good size around here. I must admit l don't encourage them as they tend to hoover up everything and the smaller birds don't get a look in.
Background is my greenhouse,  you go down a step from the patio to get to it. The pergola is ours with one of OH's precious grapevines (Although l did manage to smuggle in a Princess Diana clematis on the left hand support >:) ). It looks lovely with the bunches of  grapes hanging down and gives some welcome shade to the bench underneath. He and the next door neighbour tried making wine from them a couple of years ago - let's just say The Savoy won't be adding it to the wine list any time soon......
D'oh. Just seen your request about hellebore seeds. I couldn't find Philip's expert advice if that's what you meant, hopefully the man himself can help, but l did find this

@AnniD.  Thank you for the link,it sounds as if they'll grow anywhere, but I'll collect some as well for insurance.😊
Your greenhouse is stunning! Oh how I'd love one like that,it blends so well with the garden.OH asked if I wanted one instead of the hardstand, but the garden isn't big enough to justify needing one, besides it would just be glass, Ooo I'm envious of yours!
Grapes must be nice over the pergola, can you eat them?
We grew green ones over ours in Spain....it ran the length of the Villa, but we couldn't give them away, the Spanish neighbours only made wine with red ones. Rats used to run about up there eating them too.....yuk!

Is that what you call a greenhouse @AnniD? Don't worry about me and the foxgloves, because I have made an appointment lol. I am glad your parents are doing ok and I wonder if you managed to slip another fuchsia into your basket.

I managed to get a lot done, as the sun came out. I cut the grass, tidied up the front slope and burned a stew and a pot of soup because I forgot all about them.

I vaguely remember Philip asking for a rose name ages ago Granma, so you must have won. It's a very pretty name for a lovely rose.

I agree with Anni about the patio @Valley Gardener and glad you managed to sell the plastic sheds.

@Fran IOM i had a look on SGC but I felt it was quite expensive compared to earlier in the season so I didn't buy anything either😇.

    Have a nice evening x

@Purplerain.  Oh dear.....not gardening and burning the dinner! What were you thinking?😉
However many times have we been distracted by the garden? I dread to think.......

Lunch out at the golf club today so no cooking,it sounds posh but two really nice meals for a tenner!  I'm a cheapskate!
