Mouse did turn up earlier in the night @Purplerain, he found something in the "tunnel" and was nibbling it, but it was very difficult for me to capture a still photo of him, and when he comes out, he moves so fast it's difficult to catch him on a still, he's just a blur ! Hedgehog really enjoyed his meal last night, the dish was licked clean, and l found various "deposits" around the garden this morning.... Apologies again for the error in posting this morning, l was trying to be so organised and as usual it went a bit pear shaped 🙄. Still, l got all the jobs done on my list, and the heavy showers have now started which works out well for me. Off now to read back, so l will probably edit this in a bit. @Fran IOM, hope you get the chance to get the fatsia out, it sounds like there will be plenty of room for more plants ! My auntie always had border collies, they were so well trained and knew she was boss. She said the secret was to keep them busy and entertained, some of them were real characters. The last one died just a few months ago, and she won't have any more as she feels she's too old for it too be fair to have another dog . @Valley Gardener, hope you have good day and don't overdo things. Sometimes a bit of retail therapy can be very helpful with recovery 😉 @nultyphilip224, l know what you mean about slippers in the garden.I have been living in trainers for months (long story) and have an indoor and outdoor pair. Needless to say l am forever forgetting to swop from one to the other. Fortunately l haven't got the indoor ones too mucky.....yet! Love the photos of Whisper sunbathing and the grin on Foxy Molly's face as she gets closer to you. Wish l could run that distance in 14 odd seconds. It would be nearer to 14 minutes to be fair. Anyway, think l have got up to date, have a good afternoon and evening all.
Good Evening all. Hope you have all had a good day. This morning the weather was far from gardening weather. Heavy rain and very strong cold wind. It did stop raining after lunch so did spend an hour just mainly tidying things and cutting off the dead leaves of my Echiums. I don't know what they will grow like as after they were eaten and I managed to get rid of the sawfly they started growing again but don't look normal to me. I think it would be next year when they flower. After having had a beautiful one I do hope they are successful. Just love seeing them covered in bees. My apple trees and pear tree are producing blossom now. When the wind is strong the petals are all over the place. @nultyphilip224. I must remember to feed my Tasman lilies. My Michaelmas daisies appeared some weeks ago and are flowering. Is this the time of year for them? Also my Convolvulus has not stopped flowering. I have Gardeners' World on but not found much of interest so far. I normally watch it early Sunday morning but they seem to have stopped repeating it. @AnniD I can see hedgehog on your latest photo but not mouse. His eye shines out. I wonder what the relationship is between the two of them. Have you thought any more about writing that book about them with @Valley Gardener doing the illustrations? A post came up before to say there was a discount code on the SGC thread. Our border collie used to love jumping up for the frisbee, catching it and bringing it back. I can understand your Auntie not wanting another dog. With my age if I wanted another cat I would go to the rescue centre and pick one of the old ones that nobody else wanted. My fatsia is still standing. @Purplerain I was glad you couldn't see hedgehog either. Thought it was only me. I wonder if you are posting now. Had better have a look before I post this. They are just cutting down a Buddleia on Gardeners' World now! I shall have to keep an eye on the two on the allotment so that they don't get out of hand. They have the normal purple flowers. @Valley Gardener I noticed that when I bring up your name it is in inverted commas but on the post they disappear. Think you must all think I am losing it! Do hope you enjoyed your trip out and don't feel too tired. You must be itching to get out into the garden and maybe go in the shed...
Don't think tomorrow's weather is going to be good. Goodnight all.
@Valley Gardener,..i can well see the reason you dislike the Yucca's,..a 30Ft-10 Metres high one is some tree,..those roots caused you a lot of bother not forgetting the havoc of it raining bird droppings,..though when the young birds were falling to the ground and the cats getting them,..seeing that sight would be something to entice me to get rid of the tree as well.
My Yucca was only about 15 Cm high when i removed it from the base of the parent tree,..i was told that the parent tree was to be disposed of,..i took it with me to the next house i lived in,..then it arrived in my present abode so its had an exciting life,..i have cursed it many times,..as often as the Mahonia japonica with its holly like leaves,..the Yucca is far worse as its not named 'Spanish Bayoned' for nothing,..the tips of the leaves can penetrate ones skin very deeply.
Lol at your cats fighting for position at the window.
@Fran IOM,..ah so you have the Saxifragra densa as well i find if i keep it moist it behaves better,..it will manage without doing that,..but to get it dense and green and to bloom,..give it a gentle spray,..it appreciates it.
nice to know you took on the Border Collie,..the runt of the litter,..plus it turned out to be a very obedient dog,..Collies are exceptionally clever.
I have always loved the Very short video below,..just watch the Lerner Dog following the more experienced one.
@Purplerain,..you had it overcast while we had the rain,..at 0500 it became gusty,..so no gardening,..made the shed tidy and found things i had forgotten about lol.
I hung all the Chicken Wire Protectors i had made from the rafters in the shed,..otherwise i would freak out getting caught up in them any time i walked in.
The Pieris japonica 'Mountain Fire' that i almost disposed of but then decided i could dig it up and plant it in the front garden,..has certainly rewarded me with its display of colour,..alongside it is the Variegated Wallflower.
@AnniD,..well like in your case with the trainers for indoors and the others for the garden,..you forget to put on the appropriate ones,..i have two sets of Clogs,..not the wooden ones,..the rubber type,..even with two pairs i still head out in my slippers,..well i used to,..@Valley Gardener said its not allowed at her place,..so i could hear a wee voice this morning,..didn't wear my slippers as a result lol.
Great image of the Hedgehog,..i always love to see that you captured the image,..i must get myself a camera for the yard,..i could see the Mouse and the Hedgehog when they were dining,..it was the eyes that directed me especially when you wrote they were in the Restaurant,..well done.
I have thought about my age when getting Foxy Molly,..then i decided i couldn't be without a dog,..one isn't living alone when you have a dog and its a great excuse for taking long interesting walks,..however i understand your Aunts thinking as i was likewise.
Sharing a meal.
Hedgehog,..didn't like the idea that when the door opened before,..Foxy Molly jumped over it.
Good morning all. Something tells me this will be a productive, spendy type of day. I have all sorts of ideas for the garden😀.
@Fran IOM Border Collies have always been our family dogs. I was brought up with them and my children were too. My grandsons best friend is his Collie called Riley. The only person who stepped out of line was my Gran who decided to favour Poodles for some reason. Here is a photo of Riley at the beach outside his house taken a few weeks ago.
@nultyphilip224 I really like that combination of the wallflower and the pieris. They grow really well round here, but some people let them get very large and unruly. I know what you mean about never feeling alone when you have a pet. Like Fran, I would adopt an older cat, but not a dog as I feel that would be too much of a commitment.
@AnniD that certainly is one fat hedgehog. He/she was getting enough to eat somewhere, or else she might be having babies, meaning he is a she lol. I liked your Princess Diana clematis very much and I hope you have success with it.
@Valley Gardener Did you enjoy your trip out yesterday? I am not sure how the weather will turn out today as it was raining here overnight. I found a tiny slug on my hosta. Cheeky thing. It is no more.

Ah so you cheated on the Geraniums stock by making a purchase lol,..not to worry i just go overboard taking cuttings.
