Last of the Mahonia japonica cut down,..the colour of the wood is bright yellow,..as hard as any other wood but looks soft,..the bark and the wood are of medicinal use.
A no name Heuchera,..in time it will have a name,..when it matures a bit more.
Hi all! Still reading the posts avidly, and noting that others are chatting too, that's great! I heard the cuckoo thismorning, which was lovely as it's the first time for many years! Still no improvement, but Googled, and it said if no improvement in 72 hours, then back to Source for change of anti bis. I noticed my "rustic rail" is sprouting!!
The whole truth is an instrument that can only be played by an expert.
Good Evening all. @Purplerain@AnniD. We were all posting at the same time this morning but you both managed to get in before me. I would never have thought that the weather this morning would have turned out to be like a Summer's afternoon, no coat weather. It really was an enjoyable 2 hours gardening. Nearly finished weeding what I call the "fruit area". Consists of strawberry plants, Gooseberries (inherited) and have planted a raspberry cane which just looks like a stick stuck in the ground at the moment. @AnniD. The local shop has brought out loads of fuchsia plants which I do not need but there were two little plants left over from their previous selection which hadn't sold so yes I bought them. Felt they would be left to die. One is Verbena enchantment and Helichrysum Gold. You can see my input on the Heuchera thread! Without photos I could be telling porkies. Will probably have another look at the SGC website later. @Purplerain. It looks good to see some space for more plants so as you say I don't need to feel guilty.. I want to get as much done as possible before my son comes home. I don't somehow think the grass will be cut. It's good you are able to share your Lavender plants. Looks like gardening runs in the family. Hope you enjoy your evening out. You will have had a busy day. Always another day for gardening. @nultyphilip224. I don't think I have seen a white geranium before. Yours look good and your hostas. I am thinking of getting another hosta called halcyon. It looks almost blue in colour. I have left my heuchera to soak overnight. It was very dry. Does it happen often? My measurements of my largest Heuchera were diameter 60cms and flower 50cms high. That one is Marmalade. My Echiums after being eaten by the sawfly and since being sprayed with Neem oil have taken on a new lease of life but they seem to have developed numerous flower heads so it should be interesting to see what happens. My latest Clematis which I bought to climb up the tree has taken well. It has four or five flowers but when does it produce something which will enable it to climb? One more question sorry, I have a Hebe (I think) which when I bought it had lovely green leaves with whitish border but the new growth is totally green. At first I cut it off but it hasn't helped. Does it need feeding? @Valley Gardener Do hope you have been able to change your antibiotics. You must be feeling as though you will never get better but I'm sure you will in time.
Will leave you all in peace now. Enjoy the rest of your evening.
@AnniD,..i missed seeing your post at 13:04,..i had just posted at 13:02 then carried forward to post at 13:25,..soooo you were also caught out in a shower,..we are still having April Showers in May lol.
That white Geranium appeared one day,..it surprised me as i didn't start off with a white,..at this stage all my Geraniums are from cuttings after cuttings and no longer represent the true plant,..were the cutting from a true plant i could be fairly sure it would be similar but a cutting from a plant that was also a cutting can produce anything.
After the heavy winds and rain i didn't hold much hope for my Chilean Lanterns but surprise surprise not one of them blew off,..today they are getting more colour and getting bigger.
@Valley Gardener,..sorry to find there is no improvement in shedding off the lingering bug effects,..were it me i would tend to go for something natural instead of prescribed medication,..like say Honey,..i always had good results when i had cuts and bad wounds,..its good for internal healthiness as well.
Isn't that something,..to see your Rustic Hand Rail coming to life,..will you allow it to grow?,..it will be interesting to see how it grows its got a new lease of life and it looks good,..you could say its growing just for you.
You always notice the use i make from stones in my garden,..well some years ago i dug up a very large stone,..washed the mud off it and its sort of being hidden under 'Campanula',..yesterday i uncovered it to use it as a stand for a pot with Cat Mint 'Nepetia cataria',..this stone was from the original house that stood where my house is and it was the Lodge leading to the Church,..you can see the glossy tiles that were on the edge of the floor.
@Fran IOM,..delighted for you that you had a nice Summers Day and that you spent 2 hours in the garden,..when the weather is like that gardening is a pleasure.
I haven't seen the Thread about Heuchera Plants yet,..sometimes i get enough time when not selecting images and answering posts lol,..i also had 25 emails this morning all from other places but it keeps me busy lol.
Oh i mentioned to @AnniD about that White Geranium,..it just appeared during cuttings growing.
That Hosta 'Halcyon',..with a bluish hue,.. is a great Hosta i have one related to it and both are Slug Resistant which is a great bonus for a Hosta seeing Slugs treat them as a special meal.
I am really pleased that your Echiums that were eaten by the Sawfly are now looking healthy and also producing lots of Flower Heads,..as you said a new lease of life,..Neem Oil does work wonders
Your Heuchera 'Marmalade',..must look fantastic i can just imagine it and it has grown quite big,..just watch for that wanting to escape from the soil,..that happens from time to time but when you are aware of it its no problem re locating it deeper,..when people are not aware then they die on them,..almost happened with my Heuchera 'Sweet Tea',..i have never come across a remedy to prevent them from coming out of the soil,..but another plant will do the same and that's the Hardy Geranium 'Cranes Bill'.
If that is a 'Hebe' you have that has turned green not to worry as it changes colour in different seasons,..i have a few that do likewise,..some remain that Plumb Colour,..Shrubs that turn green ( apart from Hebe's) can be helped by removing the green growth and they sometimes tend to be reverting to the original plant colouration.
Don't worry about your Clematis producing the means to cling and climb,..it will happen once there is something next to them,..thin wire,..twine,..something thin so their small tentacles can entwine around.
Good morning all @nultyphilip224 that stone is beautiful, and to know that there is so much history behind it is fascinating . I love the red of the Chilean lanterns. It's interesting that you say that about hostas reverting, l have noticed one of mine has greener leaves in places like @Fran IOM has. Talking of plants, l still have 4 salvias sitting in a virtual shopping basket, l woke up last night thinking as to whether l should buy them. I had 5 little salvia "Amethyst Lips" arrive yesterday.....😊 It's funny how we all often "cross post", l think it's down to "great minds think alike" ! The report has come back that the dish is clean again and a fairly busy Thursday awaits (at least in the morning), so l had better make an attempt to get on with it. Hope Foxy Molly gets a good walk today and that everyone has a good day .
What a lovely old mossy rock, how nice to know some of its history,I could make use of that one! I've got one or two that are like miniature menhirs, many of the stones here are black with ancient coal dust. I'm waiting till tomorrow now to see how the ears are. I thought it was finally going yesterday, and I had about 5 minutes outside, then got dizzy ordering hubby to remove some gigantic things I planted the year before last! They were just like weeds,I left them as id forgotten what they were........like the wild flower Ragged Robin! What a waste of precious space. However from what I could see.....Aguilegia is out,the roses have a few buds, plus the Clems and Canterbury bells.......oh dear I've missed so much growth! Have a lovely day everyone, thinking of you all.😐

Yesterday was a busy day but I am free to do as I wish today, and I wish to be in the garden. I am not sure what the weather wants to do but at least it's not raining.
@nultyphilip224 you did the right thing by telling your friends that you couldn't take them to the supermarket. I think we know when we are being taken advantage of and it is up to us to do something about it.
I was impressed when you described the atmosphere in your garden as being moist and peaty rather like the botanical gardens. I could imagine that lovely damp atmosphere you get in places like that. You are very lucky with your micro climate. The Chinese lanterns are lovely and it was nice that you showed off your Heucheras on that other thread.
@AnniD you were up early again and have a busy morning. I hope you get time to get back to the garden, and I think you should click "buy" in your basket. It's good to know that the dishes were licked clean again. I wonder where the hedgehogs got to when they went missing before. Getting worried about mouse now and hope he is ok.
@Fran IOM your Heucheras are huge! I'm afraid I had to use a convertor as I still think in feet and inches lol. I hope you get another sunny day as you really want to impress your son. I'm sure he will be surprised and happy anyway. I laughed when you described your rasberry cane as a stick. I felt like that when I planted Hydrangea Vanille Frais. It was four brown sticks with no sign of life and then suddenly little buds grew. That will happen to yours.
@Valley Gardener it sounds as if your wooden supports were not properly dried out. I know Philip likes the idea, but I would be a bit miffed about it. Can the growth be killed off if that is what you want to do? Oops, your post came in before mine and I didn't see it. Keep well.
As I type, the sun has come out so I am going to start the day. Have a good one all.
@Purplerain, no they weren't dried at all, I may keep them leafy,I just didn't want the look of a metal rail. I guess this is how the willow arbors are achieved? A surprise nonetheless,as I didn't expect it to sprout! 😯
