    Good morning all.
Another nice one by the looks of things. Sun is shining but still going to be that much colder. I will have to try and keep away from "post " till I have finished the post. Does anyone know if you edit a post can it still be seen on the thread whilst you are amending or adding to it?
@nultyphilip224 That white marble rock looks good. I have a small stone with what looks like the imprint of a plant on it which my son reckons is a fossil. Will your new find get a place in the garden? Labradors are notorious for eating anything so I don't think feeding him before we eat would stop him hoping for some leftovers. He got a birthday cake and little bottle of "dog beer" (from the pet shop!) for his birthday from the dog walker. He hasn't had the "beer" yet but a slice of cake which is very hard probably made of biscuits. Will look forward to seeing your geraniums when they are in flower.
@Purplerain  Love the picture of Philip collecting his stones! Hope you have managed to get all your plants back out again. Mine don't have a choice. They are outside and that is where they stay. Hopefully my order will turn up today. Seem to have suddenly got a lot more space. My trouble is that I forget how some plants are going to spread and put them too close together. I planted my anemones next to where an Astilbe was yet to make an appearance and not realising this at the time now that it has grown profusely it is taking over and pushing the anemones out of the way.
@Valley Gardener Hope today is a good day for you. Maybe it won't take as long as three weeks once the medication kicks in. Is OH still dealing with the shed?..
@Liriodendron Do hope all goes well with your house move. You will probably want to take a lot of your plants with you. Especially any that have a memory for you. Nice to know you enjoy the posts.
@AnniD  How's the wild life in your area?  Maybe the hedgehogs are Mr and Mrs and take it in turns to feed.

Must get on with the numerous things that pile up. Should really hope for a rainy afternoon so that I can do more indoors but much prefer the gardening so hopefully the sun will keep shining.

    Have a good day.

@Fran IOM, @nultyphilip224 and @Purplerain - thank you for your kind comments.   :)

We're alternating between excitement and panic here about the move; so much to sort out, both physically (we are bad about throwing things away!) and otherwise (eg what sort of medical insurance do we need in Ireland?) before we finally move across the sea permanently.  And some things are very much up in the air thanks to B****t, that word which must not be mentioned... like the availability of Pet Passports when Britain is no longer in the EU.  But no doubt we'll get there in the end!

@nultyphilip224 - I collect stones too...  I have a "volcanic bomb" from Iceland which I collected in 1966 when on holiday there with my family, and various fossils picked up on beaches and walks around Britain and Ireland.  They are fascinating as well as beautiful, and remind me of people and places important in my life.  Your "brain stone" is amazing!  It reminds me of the Liscannor slate floor in one of the houses we looked at in County Clare, where those little grooves gave it a non-slip surface - but I did wonder how you'd sweep it!!
Since 2019 I've lived in east Clare, in the west of Ireland.

    Good afternoon everyone  :)
There were 2 hedgehogs at the same time last night, unfortunately l didn't get them caught on camera in such a way that l could post a "still" photo. The 2nd one turned up while the first one was eating, he bashed him from behind (l could tell from the reaction !), and then ran away. The second one came out 30 seconds later and ran off in the other direction, then went running in all directions trying to find the perpetrator. Imagine the music of the Benny Hill show,  that's what it was like !
@nultyphilip224 you sir, are a genius!  I was looking at some hardy geraniums in the coldframe yesterday and wondering where l could put them. For some reason it never occurred to me to put them in pots 🙄. Is there any special treatment, compost etc ? I know they are pretty tough.
Love the white stone, but l did wonder why you had a nest of baby birds in the fireplace.....
@Fran IOM l haven't given up on the email link business, l can't find a link in any of my current emails that l can try to test my theory. Maybe l should buy something from SGC just to get a code.
I don't know about the original post staying "in view" while it's being edited. It's beginning to dawn on me that l don't know very much at all.........
I also take a list out into the garden with me, there's something very satisfying about crossing a job off, and in theory it stops me getting distracted (hah!).
I hope your dog enjoys his beer, l have never heard of that before !
@Purplerain your photo of Macapaca made me laugh ! I have watched In the Night Garden once or twice, l also used to watch Teletubbies now and again 😊
I only saw a little of Gardeners' World last night, but one shot l did see was of Adam pushing a wheelbarrow whilst being followed by a black labrador. I will try and catch up with the rest later today.
@Liriodendron l only realised after reading back that l hadn't acknowledged the news about your move. Please accept my apologies, l hope all goes well. It sounds very exciting!
And last but certainly not least @Valley Gardener hope things are progressing in the right direction and you are instructing your OH in the art of ceanothus planting.  :)

@AnniD 😂😂  that is priceless! Isn't he/she adorable, you must get so excited to see things that happen in the night. Thank you so much for sharing, that's made my day!

    @nultyphilip224.
That big stone is magnificent! I would think it's some sort of medieval carving,if it was near that beautiful white marble, surely there's lots of history going on in your area? Would it have been covered by your yearly winter flooding?  Fabulous stones, keep your eyes down when not watching out for Foxy Molly,I'm totally intrigued by your "finds".
    🐕🐕🐕
I just popped out to put the coffee grounds on the garden, had a quick look, and as usual Lidls don't name things, but I expect it's just a common one. The two Clematis I got there last year aren't named either, but I think they are both from the Montana family, early flowering. My Daniel Deronda has fat buds,so that will be early too.

@Purplerain, what was your decision on weeding border of planting baskets,do you have somewhere sheltered to keep them till "swing time"?  I haven't done those for 8/9 years, but quite fancy just one,up on the terrace wall.

@Fran IOM  I can understand why your plantings have to take pot luck with the weather, you might have to get a new shed!!!    I was allowed to bring tea and biscuits to the hallowed shed thisafternoon, but was told off for pinching the comfy chair!

@ Liriodendron, the time will fly by believe you me! I brought my Dads favourite Clematis from Bournemouth to Brittany (where we were living) when he died, and much as I tended it,the blinkin thing didn't like France,so sometimes it's best to just start anew with planting, that's what I've had to do here,as there was nothing......a horrible garden in deep shade with 11 Leylandii all down one side at 30 ft tall!  Good luck with packing!!

Health update........ I've done half an hour light weeding, and tucking in tendrils!  I feel ok, just a bit weak, the pills are helping the deafness!
It doesn't look too neglected, though I've lost 2 of my three expensive Delphs! That happened when I was away. I wrapped up  wearing  OHs big fleece, against the wind.A little each day I think!
Hubby said the "plunge pool" needs refilling............I just visualized my baby frogs with their Speedos on diving in!!!   🐸🐸

Hope everyone's having a good day?!

    Good evening all.
Was very late going to the allotment today. Was 4pm but stayed there till after five as it was still very pleasant with the sun still shining. Managed to cut the fuchsia hedge on the outside of the allotment which I prefer to do when I know there is no one else around. Like to think that others think I'm a tidy person. Wonder what they think of my heucheras on display. When I was digging up the weeds the other day I wondered what I had found and it was a potato from last year's disastrous harvest! When I boiled them they turned to mush. Haven't bothered this year in fact I had forgotten till I dug up that reminder.
They have been discussing lately on the Forum Fiskars Weed Puller. I watched how to use it on You tube and it would appear something that would be useful for me to get rid of the weeds on the grass area. What worries me is the fact that once all the weeds have gone would there be any grass area left as I think 90% of it could be weeds.  :/
@Liriodendron. You must have a lot on your mind but maybe Philip can help you out with some advice. If you have family there I'm sure they will help you out. Another stone collector! We shall look forward to seeing some of yours but will you have to leave them behind when you move? I don't know where I could find any apart from the hundreds on the allotment!
@AnniD   Had to laugh at the Benny Hill antics of the hedgehogs. I can assure you I would win the prize for knowing the least. We probably did know at one time but have now forgotten. I did find it satisfying being able to cross things off the list. If I had forgotten to take it with me I would have done completely different jobs. No buying from SGC just to get a code. My order arrived today. Very pleased with it. They sent me an extra Veronica and I think I know why as they are so well established they need to get rid of them quickly. Mine were 22" high in flowers which were popping out of the cardboard packaging. Don't know how they managed to remain intact. It always says "Live plants this way up" so the postman turns them upside down. Don't think they ever read it.
@Valley Gardener You certainly sound as though you are finally on the mend. I had thought that the shed was for you! Hope you made the tea and biscuits last. Was the comfy chair the one that you bought for OH? I have very little space for myself in my shed at the moment. There are things in there that would be better off in a museum. Think they must have been used in Victorian times. That and other things my son has put in there all need to go to the tip. I know there are lots of spiders lurking as one attacked a wasp the other day and I didn't stay to watch the fight but next day found the wasp entombed in spiders web.  :s

@Purplerain and @nultyphilip224  Hope you have both had a good day with gardening weather. I think the weekend here is looking good.

I will leave you in peace. Enjoy your evening.

@AnniD - please don't feel you must apologise!  I can never remember what everyone's been up to, and don't post here very often, so it must seem as if I'm ignoring people most of the time, even though that's not my intention.

@Valley Gardener - I shall be very selective in choosing plants to take to Ireland.  This current garden is mostly shady with deep acid soil and plenty of rain.  Where we're going has a similar amount of rain, but warmer winters, and the garden is mostly sunny.  I need to do a soil test but I think it's alkaline, so rhodies etc will be left behind... but I can take a few favourites, like cyclamen given to me by my late dad, and have the fun of striking some cuttings and collecting seeds...

@Fran IOM - I'll take some stone photos soon (but not tomorrow because I'm out all day singing).  The collection has already moved house several times - it lives in the shed, which is my domain, so Hubby knows nothing about it until it gets unpacked in its new home...    :)
Since 2019 I've lived in east Clare, in the west of Ireland.
  • @Purplerain,..very cold here this morning but by 02.30 it had warmed up to 15C=59F so not too bad,..it did get warmer as i could feel it when in the garden.

You going to have a second cup of coffee made me envious as i can not drink the coffee i make,..i do love the taste when out dining and as for travel abroad its always a nice coffee,..i have tried with one or two spoons of coffee no go i can not drink it?

I changed the containers of Geraniums around,..now there are four,..i might even bring down the 5th one and place it to the right side,..i have to keep in mind that the Hedgehogs run is behind all those containers and comes out on the extreme right.

Lol at me reminding you of Macapaca the stone collector,..never heard of him,..i also have not seen 'In The Night Garden',..what station does it be on?.

I haven't has a Hosta change its colour after dividing,..its understandable when we take a cutting from plants that changes take place,..but this wasn't a cutting just a division,..its a new one to me.

This Summer i intend to save some of My Hosta seeds hoping to see changes in leaf colouring,..it happens fairly often so it will be interesting to see the outcome.

    The new Geranium containers arrangement.
