Hi Pam, welcome to the madhouse (poor Philip it was all so peaceful, l'm not sure what happened) 😁
  • @Pam’s Pastures,..hi Pam delighted to see you are still looking in here despite all the work you have taken on board,..your garden is certainly filling in and lots of greenery to be seen now,..its looking great,..good work,..i still don't know how you got away with where you have your OH's Bicycle lol.

I always use a liquid fertiliser,..a Seaweed one at present because its natural,..its from a very long standing English Company,..''doff'',..a 1 Litre Bottle will make up to 300 Litres of Feed,..Miracle grow is good as well,..many people use a Liquid Tomato Feed,..i tend to give a feed about every 14 days concentrating first on those plants that love a feed,..of course its by watering can but it doesn't have to all be done in one day,..i always mention that its best to feed on a dry day so the plants will soak up the feed rather than on a day after rain as the feed will be part wasted.
  • @AnniD,..lol,..its like a daily Garden Party so i don't complain  :)

A horrible day here today,..not even a Doggy Walk,..strong cold wet winds,..i did go back to bed for two hours,..i needed the rest lol.

All five troughs of the Hardy Geranium 'Cranesbill' are together now.

The Lungworth 'Officinalis' has finished blooming now the leaves will get several times the size of when the plant was in bloom.

Nature has a funny way of showing it can naturally create a display,..the Harts Tongue Ferns show off themselves.

@nultyphilip224, it's all so lush and green, it's lovely.  We have had a fair bit of rain today, so my garden is looking "almost" as lush as yours 😊. It's still raining now but l have put the hedgehog food out as l'm sure they will arrive eventually (and play nicely !).
Poor Foxy Molly, no walk today.

    Good Evening all.
I just had to sign in which doesn't often happen. Must have left the site open too long. The weather has been so disappointing. It didn't stop raining and is still raining now. Went to feed the birds when it wasn't too heavy and was itching to do things but I thought if anyone could see me they would have considered me mad more than likely. I feel more tired having been indoors than if I had done two hours on the allotment. Hopefully tomorrow will be an improvement as time is running out.
@AnniD. Bully Boy Hog could be the subject of a story with a lesson to learn. As you say all plants were cuttings or seeds at one time. Don't think that would work somehow. I was confused as usual and didn't realise you had already bought the metal arch. Cute Kevin arrived rather early. Glad you are happy with the plants he delivered.
@nultyphilip224. Glad to see the birds in the nest are happy again. Would you have fixed it if it hadn't been mentioned on the thread? That is a good idea of yours as to how to have drainage on that container. Will keep that in mind if I get my hands on another one. That initially had logs in it.
@Purplerain. I still haven't looked at the SGC email. I was just about to browse through it when my daughter phoned to say she was on her way to pick me up so that was that. Maybe later this evening...
@Liriodendron. Pleased you got over your headache. They can make you feel really miserable. How did the Novel Appreciation group go? Doesn't sound like the most interesting of books to read. I'm sure nobody will mind if you come and go on the thread. Philip says he is not really much of a chatty person but he seems to do very well in spite of it! We will expect you when we see you. We probably all have days when we don't want to talk much.
@Pam’s Pastures  Good to know someone is interested in the thread. I'm sure Philip will be pleased as he posts such lovely photos and seems to be able to answer most questions we have to ask him.

Enjoy the rest of your evening.

  • @AnniD,..i feel for them when they come out in all weathers for food,..i suppose they don't mind as they are out nearly all night when not hibernating,..your idea of providing the Restaurant under cover is a good incentive for them to come to feed and do so without being drenched while eating,..the only cover they have here is close to the back door,.. there is a ledge which though small it is sheltered,..so well sheltered the plants under it always need me to water them.

I hope your Hogs come out tonight,..but no fighting each other lol.

@Fran IOM,..so true about one being more tired by being indoors than a few hours in the garden,..i went back to bed for two hours,..great sleep.

So you also had the bad weather,..it will help things grow but i would prefer to be out there to see which direction they are growing,..my plants seem to prefer growing towards the East,..i planted a Rose Bush in a very big container to the left of my back door with the intention of training it to grow over the door towards the right side,..i had to force it to grow to the right,..the only location that differs is inside the greenhouse,..the back wall is white-ish so the seedlings grow towards the wall instead of outwards towards the light and left where everything else heads,..this is because the wall is brighter longer than the hours of light,..clever wee plants.

Oh i have looked at that nest of chicks being broken since last Summer with the intention of repairing it,..no excuse as there is loads of glue in the house,..because it was spotted here in the Thread i had to fix it lol,..also being asked when would it be fixed,..i had to act,..i forget that the image i post of say a stone,.. is not the only thing noticed lol,..i will have to hide things in future i really got a laugh over this as normally i leave things out in the open.

Unable to provide any Wildlife pics I think it is only fair to show you my old 18 year old boy called Fish..  He would not stop swimming for his cameo but here he is:

The curtain pole idea was great Philip and they are 4ft tall, but as many of us gardeners do when faced with a piece of wood, I decided to paint them green and use them as Dahlia stakes.

@Pam’s Pastures I think anyone who has widened their borders thanks to Philip is more than welcome here as everyone is. He is a kind and generous gardener to us all.

    Hello all!

We've had rain all day too, not too heavy so it's been soaking in rather than running off.  The garden certainly needed it.

Novel Appreciation was interesting.  I won't be reading the book again, but some in the group had enjoyed it more than I had, and opened my eyes to some good things about it which I'd overlooked.  Always good to have an open mind, I find.  But this month's read is "North & South" by Elizabeth Gaskell, much more my cup of tea.   :)

The headache is lurking in the background again so I'm off to bed.
Since 2019 I've lived in east Clare, in the west of Ireland.

@Purplerain, just wondered how long it took you to come up with Fish's name ?
    He is very handsome.  :)
