@nultyphilip224 if only you had let us know you would be offline with your friend from Minnesota. You should have, as we worried about Foxy Molly and Whisper, and the Hedgehogs. However, it is your thread and you can post as and when you like. Please consider @AnniD @Valley Gardener and @Fran IOM and myself in the future. Just a little offline post would do.  I hope I don't sound touchy, but we all love your posts.  I asked @granma to get in touch, but it is not up to her. BTW @granma my blue poppies did not happen.

@AnniD I see that as lurve with a hedgehog headache 😀.

@Fran IOM  only one sleep now X

@Valley Gardener my Cosmos are itching to go and I am tired of the in and out, so today I opened the French doors and left them in. I am not as brave as you lol.

See you guys in the morning I hope.

@nultyphilip224, l literally had my fingers crossed when l logged on this morning !   :)
I must admit we were all getting very concerned, but l quite understand your friend's insistence on no internet . I know what @Purplerain means, l think we were heading  for "worse case scenario" .
Modern technology seems to rule our lives, but in the case of this forum, in a good way (obviously !). Anyway, l am glad everything is okay and l hope you and your visitor had a good time.
Those photos of the roses are beautiful , especially "no id" - does that stand for "no idea" ?
@Fran IOM, hope all goes well today (it is today isn't it 🙄), l shall be thinking of you.
@Purplerain, those cosmos will be getting dizzy ! I left the hanging basket out last night, got up at 3 am to check for any hoggy action , it was pretty chilly but l decided it can take it's chances (also known as l can't be bothered).
There was more huffing last night, he is very keen ! We put a camera in our next door neighbour's garden last night next to the entrance to their hedgehog house to see if it has any inhabitants. We saw one on camera around our hedgehog house but not actually going in or out.
Right, a visit to the garden centre today, l have a list and will not be getting sidetracked.....
Hope everyone has a lovely day including @Valley Gardener , you might be catching up a bit now, l hope.
     :)

Good morning everyone. Well, that was a right telling off I gave to you @nultyphilip224 but glad that all is ok and hope you know it was caused by worry 🙂.

@Fran IOM I will be thinking about you today and it looks like the sun will be shining in more ways than one.

@AnniD I am sure you won't be sidetracked at the GC...😉. I bought two pots yesterday to show off the two patio roses I purchased from Brookside. I had looked and looked around the garden, but just could not find any pots that would work with them (that's my story and I'm sticking to it)

@Valley Gardener have the cosmos survived? I am going to take my chances with some Field Stock and Lettuce, as I have enough to cope if I lose some.

Second coffee beckoning, so have a lovely day all.

    Good Morning all.
I can finally settle to post now the cat and dog have stopped pestering me for more food. Hooray Philip is back! You should have put a little note "Gone fishing" or in your case maybe "Gone sailing". At least we would have known you were still in the land of the living and not had us worrying. Anyway all is now well.  :)
@Purplerain. You were up so late last night posting. Yes today's the day and such lovely weather hoping the allotment looks its best. Will let you know any remarks good or bad later. Hope to get over there before the arrival to tidy up as best I can. Had the flower beds all tidy but with having the grass cut there is a lot of grass cuttings hovering around. Can't have everything.
@AnniD. Enjoy your visit to the garden centre. Why not get sidetracked? List or no list.
Maybe Mr Hog realises there is a camera and doesn't like being watched. I had hoped my order from SGC would have arrived yesterday so I could get them planted out before today. Will probably get told off for spending money on plants.  :(
@nultyphilip224. So good to see you back.  :) Wonder what you thought of us all debating as to what had happened. Can't believe you have all those roses in bloom. I get excited just seeing a bud on mine at the moment. Maybe in a week or two I shall see something but I doubt anything like yours. My daughter took photos (!) at the weekend and emailed them to me. I am hoping my son will have some idea as to how to get them on the forum but when I right click on them there is no "copy and paste" etc. so as yet they are in limbo.
@Valley Gardener No doubt you will also be relieved to find Philip back posting. Hope all is well with you and you are enjoying your garden now.

Time now for me to catch up on all the jobs outstanding. Enjoy you day while the weather lasts.

    @nultyphilip224.    😁😁 That's you told off Philip!!
I hope you had a great time with your friend anyway, but we were all visualising the worse scenario!
I hope my three roses will look as good as those!

@ FranIOM  good luck for today.

@AnniD .You will definitely have to get a nest prepared! Imagine baby hogs! I bet they're adorable. Good luck with planting up all MIL Begonias, quite a lot,but they do flower till late Autumn, I had an urn of them last summer, then planted up with purple viola for winter, they are still looking lovely,so will leave well alone for now!

@Purplerain.  Come on! Get those Cosmos out!!   I put all mine in yesterday, and they overnighted well. They were growing out of their shelf in the porch,so had to go.

I'm catching up well now,I do a little and then sit for ten mins,as I'm still out of breath, planted my urns sat on my Dads upturned kneeler!

@Islander.    I for one,am not very au fait with plants, just basic knowledge! But I love to get out in the garden, and mess about, with the birds  singing and the sheep baaing on the hillside, my garden has "evolved" nothing regimented,no lawn, loads of clematis and rocks.  Love it!!!😁😁

A lovestruck Romeo.....steps out of the shade. Says something like "You & me babe, how about it?" (With thanks to Mark Knopfler)

😀. I think she is playing hard to get. You are getting some great moments on the cam @AnniD.

@Valley Gardener I am tempted to plant out, but there is a very timely discussion going on as to why not. I am going to put some dwarf cosmos in a pot and keep it close to the house tonight as a compromise. That's if I have the energy, because I decided to lift the forget me nots and it is not as easy as I thought it would be. Lots of weeds hiding etc.

@Fran IOM I wasn't exactly up late, I just couldn't sleep so decided to have "one more look".  I am glad I did, and found Philip had posted 😀. Anyway, back to the garden now, and looking forward to your pics.

@islander, we are all just enthusiastic amateurs, apart from Philip who is in a league of his own.

Another beautiful day here, hope it has been the same for everyone.
I was very good at the GC and stuck to my list.....l just might have bought more of each plant than intended 😊. For instance l calculated that l needed around 15 nemesias. After l potted them on, l counted 36. 36 !! Maths has never been my strong point, but really. In my so called defence, they were such lovely colours that l couldn't resist. I also swore blind that l was only having one hanging basket this year (for tomatoes),  there will now be three.
OH just rolls his eyes in that time honoured way 🙄, especially when l told him l was doing it for the hedgehogs. Well, l'm sure they appreciate the pretty flowers whilst munching on a slug or two.
I hope everyone has a pleasant evening , and that Foxy Molly had a good walk today.  :)
  • Yikes!,..keeping my head down here just in case i have to duck  :)
A very warm day here and so i spent quite a long time down at the river until i got hungry and headed home to potter about in the garden.

@AnniD,..ah yes as @islander guessed No ID means No Identity,..i have quite a few of these as they were either grown from seeds,..or cuttings from a rose bush that didn't have a name tag,..though mostly where the bloom from a cutting is completely new to the garden and shows no resemblance to the parent rose bush.

The rose below is the first cutting from the parent bush.

The rose below is a cutting from the cutting above.

  • @islander,..nice to see you here,..i am not an expert by any means,.. its just down to the years of growing plants and understanding where they like to grow best and how to get the best from them,..i am sure both you and everyone else will know more about the plants you grow than i do.
