@Valley Gardener,..when Foxy Molly enters the meadows she runs like a Rabbit then rolls in the fresh grass,..i bet she remembers when she was a house dog with her previous owner and thinks the outdoors are heaven.
Swans in the distance grazing on grass.
The poor Water Hen below built her nest last month before the water dropped,..when it did drop her nest was approx 45cm=18 inches above water level.
The new nest below.
Rosa (Rose 'Handel' ) on the wain,..and below that the new bloom.
@Fran IOM,..delighted to see your visitors arrived safely,..i hope you are enjoying the experience of looking over the girlfriend ,..not to worry about no feedback on the Allotment its not the same to them as it is to you but i do hope you get a compliment or two
@Jess is in the Garden,..i see your question was answered,..the cat being ''Whisper'',..i hope you get a wonderful Kitten,..thank you for liking the garden.
@Liriodendron,..i was looking at the plant Caltha palustris,..and comparing it to Lysimachia nummularia,..you were correct,..i don't have the latter,..same type of flower but different leaf,..thank you for introducing me to Caltha palustris,..the correct name for the plant in the image below.
Good morning all So much to look at and beautiful photos as usual @nultyphilip224. I love the orange rose "Laurie's Golden Orange", l know it's not to everyone's taste but l like the unusual colour. I used to have "Pat Austin", but she was never very happy to be honest. I also love Foxy Molly looking on with approval, she has a very happy face ! Lots to do today again, including the supermarket visit for MIL. When l was there yesterday l escaped without buying a plant, but they had some very healthy polemoniums... 🙄 Hope all have a good day, make the most of the weather, and hope @Fran IOM gets the compliments she deserves
Good morning all. I am sneaking around quietly, as I have a very small boy staying the night and I want to enjoy my coffee before he wakes up.
@AnniD thanks for the tip of the witches hat. I had not thought of that, but of course it would be perfect. I will definitely do that next year for the toms.
@Valley Gardener I left everything out last night as the low here was 10 degrees and they have survived, but looking at the long range it could drop again soon. I am such a cautious woosy type of gardener lol.
@Fran IOM as Philip said, don't worry about the young ones not saying anything. I bet they would notice if it was a big weedy mess. Nobody really understands what goes into gardening until they try to maintain their own patch of land.
@nultyphilip224 that photo of Olivia is great. She has such a knowing expression on her face. I wonder if she moved on to another home in the end for some peace and quiet from her offspring. As always, the plants are a joy to see. Today I am going to get my young helper to assist in cleaning out the pond. I use that term loosely as it is more like a big puddle with some artfully arranged rocks. After that we will go for a walk for an ice cream and by then Mum and Dad should be back (hopefully).
Good Morning all. What a difference it makes to waking up to sunshine. You can plan your day more effectively and it lifts your mood. @Jess is in the Garden Sorry to hear you have lost a cat. Are you thinking of getting a rescued kitten? @nultyphilip224. Such beautiful photos. Are you sure Foxy Molly isn't looking at you? Whisper and her mother and grandmother are so alike it's hard to tell the difference. I am sure Whisper has many years left in her yet. How sad that Olivia never returned. I had that with one of my cats and "Tibby" sat and watched out of the window for him for days. Tibby was also the one who looked after any other cats just like Plain. The girlfriend is so nice and fits in well that it doesn't feel like having a stranger in the house. I was fishing for compliments and as my son said the allotment when he last saw it was in "all its glory" like now and he didn't see it when it had been battered by the storms and all the weeding that needed to be done etc. Fair enough I suppose. Is that a wasp or bee inside your rose? My foxgloves are only just beginning to show signs of flowering. Was very pleased to see my rhododendron is flowering. It had been pot bound for years at home and first year on allotment it did flower but didn't do anything last year. @AnniD. Bet you were relieved when all the Begonias were planted out. Have you been back to the SM? My order from SGC arrived yesterday and guess who brought it in from the porch. Yes, my son, so thought I was going to get a lecture on spending money on plants but funnily enough he was impressed! Did mention free postage and 20% off etc. which was probably to his liking. Did you get an email from SGC yesterday? Deleted already? I haven't looked at it yet. @Purplerain My son isn't young! I am sure he would have something to say if I had neglected it. Was more interested in showing his girlfriend all the work he had put into it which I can understand as without his input it would probably still be a jungle. Actually have a photo somewhere. @Valley Gardener Hope all is well with you.
Good morning everyone. Not up very early today.....the prospect of a large shop looming!
I agree about the Orange Rose Anni, it's spectacular,Foxy Molly looks so happy on her walks, poor Moorhen was certainly left high and dry! I can see some good subjects to paint in your pics @nultyphilip224,
Good luck Purplerain, with your little helper,my little water area is all about strategically placed rocks too!! The tadpoles are getting quite big, spending a lot of time on the top, made sure there are rock steps to climb out when the time comes.
I'm glad to hear the visit is going well Fran, and you are so right, the youngsters have no clue as to how much work goes into gardening!! My daughter was forever on the phone last year........her first attempt at any kind of gardening, but not a word this year!! All a bit to much work methinks!
Ugh!!! Off to Asda! Still.........there may be a cheap plant or two outside, every cloud etc etc!😄😄
The whole truth is an instrument that can only be played by an expert.
@Fran IOM , just drinking tea before the next stage of the day, so thought l'd pop back into the forum. Glad your son's girlfriend is nice and gets on with everyone, l'm sure she was impressed by all your son's hard work (and your bit of input as well ) I have seen the SGC email and l haven't deleted it yet.....the polemonium was still in the supermarket, healthy but lost and alone, so what else could l do ? OH did the eye rolling thing again.... @Purplerain pond clearing and ice cream sounds good to me ! Right, must get on again, this weather is not going to last and we have parents to visit etc.
@Fran IOM yes, like anni I am pleased that your sons girlfriend fits in. I always think of our children as young, even though my oldest is approaching 40. I also came on to tell you that yesterday I found wasps building a nest in the shed. I sprayed Raid and ran like h*ll. Today there was one still buzzing but it left when I sprayed again. The white stuff is ant powder that I puffed when I felt brave enough to go in. Think I got 'em.
