@nultyphilip224 I think your stone looks like the head of a fish. Perhaps off an old fountain or something maybe?  I like it 😊

Perhaps we see what we want to see 😁

    Erysimum linifolium variegatum,..'Variegated wallflower'.

    Morning everyone  :)
@nultyphilip224 , that is a lovely card. I got quite emotional when the lamb couldn't get back ! Running later than usual this morning, even OH didn't wake up until after 8 o'clock which is very unusual for him. Looks like a lovely day, hope everyone is well or getting there.

    Good Morning all.
We are so lucky with this beautiful weather and more yet to come I believe. We could probably do with some rain for the garden but when you can hose it down why worry.
@AnniD. Do hope you get your hot x bun today. Had to laugh at the idea of Philip in a blouse. When I buy something that I wouldn't want anyone to think it was for me I ask for a gift receipt. You have probably picked the right name for the allotment as most of the plants come from SGC. What a wonderful amount of money you have been able to raise on the sale of your plants and very worthy charities it is funding. Good job I don't live near the charity shop or I would be very tempted to buy some.
@nultyphilip224. Very interesting video but the card won't load on my laptop. Don't know why. I have just had to buy a new mouse and even this one isn't behaving too well. I shall have to dig up my heucheras that are lifting up and replant them. Hope you get your Hellebore seeds.

Was very pleased with my purchases from SGC. Most can be planted out but a couple need to mature a bit more. Yesterday I bought locally an aubrietia and carnation. Both very healthy. It's that time of year when they get their plants on display and I can't resist. Not sure if I have put them in the right place but will have to wait and see. Already have two aubretia doing well. I have yet to put the bark around the roses but not sure whether to water the ground first so the bark keeps the moisture in. Any tips welcome. Also do ivy cuttings (not the type you want to get rid of but type you buy) root in water or can you just plant in the ground? Yet another - Still have Tasman lily bulbs to plant and not sure what area they would be happy in. Would they flower this year or am I too late? I would also like some ideas as to what to plant in my new pot. It would be the shape of a globe with the top cut off. The height is 20cms, the diameter for plants 20cms and the circumference of the outside of the pot is 80cms so it's going to take quite a lot of compost. Sorry to go on but I know you are all knowledgeable  gardeners.
Saves starting  a new thread with rather naive questions.

Still concerned about @Valley Gardener and her OH. Do hope things are looking up for them.

Will leave you all in peace. Enjoy you day...

@Fran IOM re: the bark, I water the ground before I mulch, whether that is correct I have no idea, but it works for me ! No sign of Hedgehog or Mouse last night, in Mouses's case I am not surprised -
Right I have made a list of jobs that I probably won't stick to, and OH has gone back to his mum's. 10am already !! A peaceful or productive Good Friday to everyone.

Good afternoon and happy Easter to all. Lots needed done today so I cracked on.

@nultyphilip224 thanks for the card, and video. I am going to look at it again. So much history, and I can see you popping up here and there behind ancient stones 🙂. Yesterday, I got a lot done, including painting the cold frame (Cuprinol Shades Willow) if anyone is interested. I meant to do it last year but circumstances (laziness) got in the way.

It has been so hot today that it became urgent to get the seedlings out of the plastic greenhouses and potted on. They were wilting as I was doing it, but hopefully they will be ok. I will move the Alderman peas and other stuff out of the cold frame to make room for them. Joy to me is thinking I have run out of 3" pots and then finding a stack of them in the shed!

@Fran IOM and @AnniD I hope you both are having a great day. I haven't had time to read everything, but will when I recover from not so stress free gardening.

    Small pleasures.

Glad you were pleased with the SGC plants. I was too and could have split some but I thought it best to just get them in the ground. I looked at the emails and I did order the Helenium just to make up the price for free postage.

The mulching should be watered first as Anni said and then laid on top as it is supposed to help keep the moisture in the soil.

I have never rooted ivy, but I am sure it would root in water. Most things do at this time of the year. Always worth a try.

When planting up a pot I tend to go with the Thriller, Filler and Spiller idea. Something dramatic as a Thriller could be a red cordyline or a big pelargonium, bacopa makes a nice spiller along with ivy and calibrachoa (million bells) and the filler could be just about anything compact like viola. A lot depends on the colour of the pot too.

Right, thats me off to get the hoover out and make some tea for grandaughter who wants to stay the night 😩. I could do with putting my feet up.

I know how you feel @purplerallim, l am shattered ! OH went to MIL's to cut the grass and do more measuring and stuff. At first it was all "I don't know why you're bothering to do this", today it's "Oh, it's looking nice, isn't it ?". Thank the lord for that, he is working himself to a standstill. I pricked out 4 seed trays worth of salvias and poppies . I think there's a school of thought that says you shouldn't disturb poppies, but l have gone for it. Emptied a coldframe. This pm washed 4 bags worth of decorative stones, sieved some soil. Boy, was it warm ! Our garden is South facing so there is very little shade. One good thing was watching the plants. This morning the irises were just in bud, now in flower, and the clematis Montana is opening. If Hedgehog doesn't turn up tonight l will just have to hope that he has found a better deal elsewhere. It has been like a summer's day, so l would expect him to appear.
@Fran IOM and @nultyphilip224, hope you have had a good day in the sun, and that @Valley Gardener is feeling better.
Off for a shower , l really need one 😮.
