Good evening everyone Had unexpected outing with next door neighbours to Flower Festival at our local church. The flowers were absolutely stunning, the work that had gone into the displays was incredible. My flower arranging technique involves basically shoving them into a vase and hoping for the best. Nice cup of tea, neighbours had coffee and carrot/chocolate fudge cake, but l hadn't long had breakfast and just couldn't face it, lovely though the cakes looked . Neighbour had promised OH that if there were plants for sale, he would do his best to stop me - hah ! Came across a lovely Galega officinalis alba, £4.50. Had to be done ! I already have one, but you don't see them very often so l took the opportunity. Love the faint smell of coconut from the flowers. Very breezy this afternoon, went round with the hosepipe as things are starting to collapse a bit, then we sat in the sun with a glass of cordial. Nothing done on my to do list, but tomorrow is another day. Don't envy Philip having to catch up with all the "wittering" , but it beats watching the telly Okay, pizza and salad followed by raspberries and cream. Have a lovely evening everyone 😊
Lol at the ''wittering'',..you were right not to envy me looking back at approx 5 pages of ''wittering'',..i started to feel my head spinning lol.
Those Foxglove seedlings,..which are twice as big now,..were all from self seeds,..there are still more here and there in the garden that i will rescue,..i will leave some where they started as they are still too small to start re potting though they would be fine its just being so small its difficult to manage them by hand.
I liked your Elephant Slide lol,..that's a great example of my moving pots around.
Nice going i see you purchased a Sempervivum tectorum,..you asked how did i accumulate so many,..i was given one in a miniature pot as a joke,..from there they multiplied to what you noticed in that post,..the container was a Musical Instrument Box Lid lol,..i also have about 3 good sized pots full of them.
About the Garden Gallery Thread being still there with 1.500K posts,..it doesn't convince me that this Thread would be treated the same,.. looking at the other Threads that were locked,.. and then a new Thread started,..shows the decision to do this is hit and miss,..i could start a new Thread myself on ''Cottage Garden-By Philip'',.. but it goes against the grain to do so and it would be the first time this has happened to me in over 15 years of posting in Garden Sites,..meaning closing down a Thread which was started approx 12 weeks ago due to its being overly active by reaching the rumoured 1.000 limit,..plus in the middle of the Garden Season,..so i won't be posting images in this Thread with the cloud of,.. will it be suddenly closed,.. hanging over me,..i will wait a spell to decide will i open some other kind of Thread in GW,..or move to another Garden Site,..however that doesn't prevent you ladies from posing as usual,..its just that i won't be there.
Mentioning Goldfinches and Bullfinches,..sometimes i see them in my garden,..only sometimes,..they do show themselves all the time in the front of the house area,..there are Cherry Trees there and that is where they seem to dwell,..i have watched them eating the buds on the trees just before the blooms begin,..it was only in the past three years i learned and watched them do this.
Very nice Hand Pick image,..its a first for me to see one of those obviously used down in the mines,..if it could talk it would have some stories to relate,..it would be easy enough to make a nice short smooth wooden handle for it.
Ah yes i just finished viewing all those images,..very clear and loved the Dog image,..of course the blooms as well ,..in case you wanted to look back at older posts here after the Thread closes,..you could Bookmark it as it will not be in view for long as it will fade into the background of old Threads
Hello Philip, rather than take the risk of your thread being closed, @Purplerain, @Valley Gardener@Fran IOM and myself have decided that we won't post on here any more.
That will free up the thread for you to continue posting photos of your beautiful garden. We have enjoyed our time here very much and would like to thank you for giving us the opportunity to become "Forum Friends" . We wish you, Foxy Molly, Whisper and co. all the very best for the future and hope you reconsider your decision to leave the forum. Very best wishes from all of us, AnniD x
