@Fran IOM.  Welcome back. Well you certainly had the weather for it!
You will soon be back out there, planting up the bits you bought, all sound like bargains, well done.
I think you'll soon be getting yourself a Moongazing Hare.......😊

If anyone is interested I managed to dig out the root of the Dreaded Buddlea! It had started to creep under the wall,so that was a wakeup. I've put down a root killer just to make sure, and covered the area with rocks for now,so the cats don't dig there (soft soil)
I'm pretty horrified at the speed with which it had taken over. This was a tiny twig 18 months ago, that I pulled up on a walk. Never again.
Still......I'm quite pleased with using the big fork to get it out! OH will be amazed when he gets back from golf.😱
In future I'll stick to Clemmies and Crocosmia, and other things which will pull out easily!

  • @Valley Gardener,

I took up your suggestion,..sat in the garden this evening after everything else was completed,..two glasses of Australian Chardonnay,..enjoyable but it felt like more  :) ,..had the car tested today and it Failed,..luckily it was a visual re test,.. which i returned in the afternoon to take at no cost then Passed,..what failed me was the Battery Mounting,..new rule,..it must be bolted,..not secured with Cable Tidy or something Belt Like,..last year was the same story,..Failed on one count,..Foxy Molly had chewed about quarter of an inch of the rear seat belt,..so i had to replace the belt,..after that it passed the visual test,..at no cost,..except i had to get a second hand seat belt for £50.

Oh that chap who wore your Baseball Cap for the week is hard to beat,..''Jack Benny'',..he must have passed dozens of shops in Spain that sell Baseball Caps,..tight is right,..makes one think about people like that.

I liked giving a hand to that friend as she doesn't mix with the group who go out for meals,..keeps to herself,..reads a lot,..we get along because we both like to live alone.

Oh i see you managed to dig up all the roots,..well done,..seemed like a nice idea to plant that little bush at the time,..it surely grew in a short time,..i bet you are still saying,..never again lol.

Rose ( Rosa 'Fragrant Cloud' )

    No ID Climber.

  • @AnniD,

I have to laugh at those expressions of Foxy Molly,..the narrow eye look in particular,..i wonder does it mean what we are thinking?.

Ah that first image,..that's for the Hogs to avail of,..Eat n Drink then ''Hogwash'' lol.

The reason one seldom sees my front garden is because its so small i do forget about it myself,..seeing its also more or less open plan,..nothing planted is sacred though so far nobody has touched anything.

    Its cutting hay time.

    The poser on the bridge.

    Cooling off.

    Snapdragon.

  • @Purplerain ,

Ah yes i had that Vitax Hydrangea Colourant some time back,..it works very well indeed,..i really am looking forward to see your results.

The little section in front of the house is a Zig Zag shape,..i park my car alongside it and drivers who mistakenly thought they could get to the main road coming past my house have backed into that garden area,..so i placed two large cement breeze blocks to stop them,..someone drives into the blocks at least once a week,..teaches them to be more careful,..the block are actually in my garden.

Yes i remember you telling me about the Mystic Merlin Mallow and how they turned out pink,..nice to see you managed to get at least one purple one,..it is a beauty,..well done taking cuttings,..they root easily enough at this time of year to the extent you could greatly multiply your stock of them,..rooted in water or a pot and outside they will take,..have yours taken already?

    Perennial Sweet Pea,..images from today.

    Rose ( Rosa 'Korresia' )

  • @Fran IOM

Welcome back Fran,..you had a nice break away in the very hot weather,..you were lucky to have your Daughter and SIL watering the garden for you and i would say water was badly needed,..i had to watered mine every second day of late.

Lol at your comment,..''You should have seen the Heucheras'',..ah yes bitten by the Heuchera Bug for certain  :)

    Good morning all  :)
Fairly short and sweet this morning as fair bit to do , including dropping supplies to the Hedgehog Rescue. Hopefully someone will be there as l don't really want to leave them outside and l don't want to pester the lady ,she has enough to do as it is!
Love Foxy Molly striking a pose by the bridge, l can hear the strains of Madonna's "Vogue" in the distance!
@nultyphilip224, glad the car got through the test and you enjoyed the celebratory Chardonnay  :)

Good news on getting the buddleia out @Valley Gardener, they have a habit of sneaking up on you. OH cut the one in MIL's garden almost to the ground and it must be back to a good 6 feet.

Right, better get on, hope @Fran IOM is settling back in, and @Purplerain has a good day.

Good morning all. I was sitting out with my coffee this morning just looking, when I was struck by the total silence, apart from the birds. It took me a minute to realise that this is because the primary school, which is a fair distance away, is shut for Summer. I am used to the distant screaming and general hubbub of small children, until the bell goes. I didn't realise how much I liked the sound until now 😀.

@nultyphilip224 I hope you enjoyed your wine. Sometimes it is nice to contemplate at the end of the day with a glass of wine. I think the cuttings I took look ok. They are in water and I can see the start of some white roots. I will take a photo of the hydrangea for you regardless of the result, but I am hopeful that they will change. Thanks for suggesting it. I loved the pose of Foxy Molly with Anni's Vogue going through my head. (You have a way of putting things Anni, that makes me laugh every time).

Last night I sowed some more foxgloves, this time Excelsior although a bit late. The others have all germinated and as usual I have far too many little plants. Lots of pricking out to be done soon and I will admit to it being my most hated job. It's taking away a little life that hasn't done anything wrong as I see it ☹️.

@Fran IOM by now you will have been over to the allotment so hopefully all is in order with the family keeping up with the watering. It's good to have you back and I hope you are feeling fresher after a good nights sleep in your newly painted home 😀.

@Valley Gardener I read that you were worried about rust (I think it was you) on another thread. I noticed it too on one Lavatera close to a fence and just snipped off the affected leaves and disposed of them. The others seem not to be affected, but I also wondered if it spreads to other plants, although I have seen no evidence of it. Any expert advice from our learned panel?

@AnniD I envy your trip to the hedgehog sanctuary. Do you help out there as well as look after your own? I haven't heard of any near me, but I would volunteer like a shot if there was one. I love the photos on our thread and it has made me more familiar with their habits.

Well, I am ready for my second coffee and then a busy few days ahead, so take care and have a lovely Tuesday.

    Good Morning all.
Lovely to be back in the routine. Last night I was reading back trying to catch up on everything. I started early as I felt I had so much to mention but my daughter and granddaughter arrived earlier than usual so haven't even got started yet. (School off for teaching training) and Friday is also a Bank Holiday over here. Can't believe it is now 10.45 and I must have sat down at 9.15! Haven't done anything yet so will take each of you in turn and probably post and then to ease the guilt do something in the house and back here again. If you can understand that!
@nultyphilip224 When I was away I thought I recognised a dog as Foxy Molly. Looked exactly the same but much older and had a blue harness so presume it was a boy. Now if I had a decent phone I could have taken a photo.  :(  Love Foxy Molly's paws and whiskers.
Everything looking good on the allotment. This afternoon I think will be taken up picking up the rose petals. So many. Have some lovely roses and the pound shop ones are doing well. A couple of years ago I had a small root of a climbing rose which my son told me to get rid of but unknown to him I planted it behind the trunk of the apple tree and kept an eye on it. To my surprise it started to grow and noticed yesterday that the bud had now turned into a lovely pink rose. Probably to thank me for saving its life! I was going to ask how your Verbena (from the trolley) was doing and then you put a photo on so doing well. Mine are now flowering and moving in the breeze. Did you plant out your Cornus? Mine seems to be doing good but not sure how long it takes before it is mature.  Lovely photos of the swans. How long do the cygnets stay with the mother?

If you did understand the beginning of my post I shall now make it look as though I have been busy and get back later. I haven't forgotten you all! Have a cat on my knee which doesn't help matters.

    Enjoy your day.

Good morning all,a bit on the late side as I couldn't wait to get out there and dig up the blinkin Hollyhock! Totally smothered in rust, and I'm not doing those seeds again! It looks better without it! So now moved a climbing Hydrangea against the wall in its place.
OH is busy placing in the edging ready for the gravel being delivered later,no doubt will be needing a cool drink by now!

@nultyphilip224. As you say Foxy Molly is posing! I always think I'd like to paddle where she does,it looks so refreshing.
The Yellow rose is perfect,I have an unknown one bought for £4 in B+Q,which is now in bud,but I haven't a clue about the colour! Yellow would be nice,as it's growing up the arch with the bronze leaves of Daniel Daronda, sometimes it's nice to get a surprise one, then you aren't disappointed if it doesnt turn out like they describe.

@AnniD nice to be popping into HH Rescue,do they have fundraising days? My daughter is into Rabbit Rescue plus a few guineas,so I get roped into painting stones and bunny type signs for table top sales at fetes......every little helps.
Anyway you have a productive day.....it sounds like youre busy today.😊

@Purplerain  I agree,I like the sound of the kids playing,it would never bother me living near a primary school, not sure about the older schools though.😯
Good luck with the long laborious job of picking out your Foxgloves, times like that a radio comes in handy with the afternoon play on!
Dove gave me a link to the rust carry on,it won't pass it on to the roses, but to be honest I've sprayed with just about everything, the flowers looked fine but the leaves were thick with it.....so ugly!  Anyway I'm not sorry to see it go,as the seed was free, and it was white instead of dark red,so never that happy with them.I

@FranIOM.  I can just imagine how pleased you are to get back out there,I bet you've had a thorough inspection of every inch.....😊you
No doubt puss will try and hog your lap for a while to make up for lost time.

Hope you all have a good day....weather lovely too!

The pic is the tentative start of the bottom patio ( was to have been a hardstand) it's looking better than that now!
There will be a fence between us and the excavation site next door...eventually!!
