A few photos, first one is a poppy from seeds I received from the seed swop on the forum a couple of years ago. Unfortunately I can't remember who sent them to me. Begonia D'oderata Angelique
Another lovely poppy And finally, Geranium "Rozanne"
@Purplerain.....Love the hat,I bet you look very fetching in it too! Sorry to hear the plans for the Cordyline didn't work out,did you want to use the pot for something else? Perhaps you have a place for it planted in the garden? They are nice "statement" plants. The Heavenly Blue Penstemon is a lovely one. I had a bit of a chuckle about the black fence,as my Dad used old engine oil from his car,so had a black fence over 30 years ago. We all thought he was nuts, but his plants always showed up very well against it.
@AnniD I always thought it must be nice to waken to church bells ringing,I suppose it depends if you had a good night's sleep. Like you I found it stifling and was forced to get up pretty early, we've had a tiny shower, just after I finished cutting down the Buddlea! Just the roots to get out now,I'm much happier to see Josephine, and hopefully Rescue rose will bloom this year, which was also hidden by the rampant Buddlea.......never again,I think I'd rather admire them from afar!😊
The whole truth is an instrument that can only be played by an expert.
Yes indeed totally refreshed and as you say sometimes the body knows enough is enough,..the straw that broke the Camels back was the excess heat.
Being a glutton for punishment,..i went to give a friend some help in her house,..took Foxy Molly with me as there is a big garden well fenced in,..so she had a great time sniffing about lol,..i slept over and had another good sleep.
Yes its amazing how many different colours one can have from just two Hydrangea Bushes,..i would like your Hydrangea ''Dark Angel'',..though despite all the rain we get they demand lots of water which is my problem as they are in containers,..i might plant them in the garden after this Season.
Lol about your quote from ''Jaws'',..''We're going to need a bigger boat'',..yeah sadly its true,..three ''Mary's'',.. and a ''Maura'',..''M'' is not a lucky letter
The one below has Warts over its right eye,..so its ''Warthog''.
No Warts on this one,..there are two more so eventually i might be able to see something to identify them.
Lace Hydrangea not in full bloom as yet.
Philip thinks that ''We'' had a good time.
You posted two beautiful Poppies,..my favourite is the dark one,..i also like your Begonia,..that Geranium ''Rozanne'' is nicer than my Hardy Geranium though i was sent some seeds which may well be the same as yours though so far they have not flowered though they may before the season is over,..they were described as light blue with white.
Ah yes that was a record,..me having 8 hours sleep,..it felt great,..i hope it happens again but not the weak legged session,..heat for certain was the cause but a build up of lack of sleep added.
You may have got the same Hydrangea Colourant as mine,.. then maybe not as there are a few out there and possibly have different doses to measure,..seeing mine are in containers i only had to add the Colourant once in the season and that was two Tablespoons full,..i will be watching out for your results,..you will be pleased with the results.
Lol,..gone AWOL again,..i did have a good sleep though it was after a lot of lifting furniture in order to do some painting,..i tend not to get a good sleep in someone else's house but i managed to do so.
Like the Hat,..i wear a Baseball Hat all the time,..in fact i started a collection in 2009,..then started wearing them as one wore out.
So you like that very dark Lily,.. Lilium ''Dimension'',..it reminds me of a nice Wine,..funny how colours remind us of something else.
Lilium ''Lollypop''.
Your Penstemons look very nice,..yes it can take a full year before they really mature and become more dense,..i was given some seeds but didn't get to sow them as i had a huge amount of Foxgloves which self seeded plus i multiplied my Lupins bu dividing.
Up to this week i didn't have a Lupin other than the Purple type blooming,..yesterday a yellow started showing its colours,..there should also be a multicoloured one and a red,..heaven knows where they are?.
Imagine such small feet on Foxy Molly,..that's one reason i dread stepping on her foot,..amazing that they are the same size as your ''Cush'',..dainty footed pets.
Sometimes i sit in the garden and try to read,..then i see something i can do and it goes from that to something else,..even having a mug of tea ends up the same.
Like the Baseball Cap
Musk Mallow ''Malva Moschata'',..started blooming at the front of the house,..i have three sections of it in the back garden but not in bloom yet.
Good morning all. @nultyphilip224. Super pics philip! I can't believe how many hogs are coming to your feeding station, Warthog! Love it 😊 the pics are just so clear you can count the bristles and the warts! I think that's one of the best pics of Foxy Molly in the ferns, that's a screen saver....it's !ovely. The Mallow is looking good too, well it all does!
I can understand how you can't rest in the garden,it's best in the evening with a glass of wine, surveying what you've done. There are always weeds that need to go though.
That was kind of you to give help for a day,but good that you slept well, normally you can't zonk out in a strange bed,I take a nytol if I'm away for a night,as I know I won't sleep.
There is a funny story with my old "Angel" baseball cap, my son had a friend stay for a week of Golf when we were in Spain and he forgot his hat. He was too mean to buy another so he wore my Angel one all week round the golf courses. Tight or what?!!
@AnniD beautiful pics. I love the dark Poppy too, also the Blue Geranium, the weather changed just in time for nice poppies,a bit too late for mine,as I only got one,the rest rotted with the rain. I've spotted a couple of Helleborus peeping out,bit late for them.
I've had my third cup of coffee and a crumpet.......so I'm off in a few minutes to try and get the root of the Buddlea out, what an invasive bush that is. Think I'm going to need a bigger fork........a bit like Philips boat.😊😊 Looking forward to hearing what you've all been up too.
The whole truth is an instrument that can only be played by an expert.
Good morning everyone Glad to hear you've had 2 good night's sleep @nultyphilip224 Wish l could say the same, very warm again last night. Even with the fan going for most of it, it was difficult to sleep. Never mind. I hate to have to be the one to tell you this, but that's not a hedgehog in your first photo (unless it's had a very long and hard life). Lol at Foxy Molly and her narrow eyed look "So he thinks that, does he ?" We don't see photos of your front garden very often (think l'm right in saying that). Very pretty planting. I know what you mean about sitting down with a cup of tea and spotting things that need doing. It's very rare for me to do that and not see something, trouble is by the time I've finished the tea l've forgotten what it is 🙄 Hope @Fran IOM, @Valley Gardener and @Purplerain have a good start to the week. Laters x
Good morning all, and nice to see you back @nultyphilip224. The weather here is drizzly and not looking very promising at all, so I will attend to a few things around the house today (sister is coming on Wednesday for two nights).
The colourant I got is Vitax Hydrangea Colourant and it is to be mixed 30g to 4 ltrs of water, so I have done it twice now. I prefer the sound of your only once treatment, but we will see how it goes. I love that deep wine asiatic lily and the front of house is lovely.
Do you remember me telling you about the Mystic Merlin mallow and how they turned out pink? Well, I did get one purple one which I like and have taken cuttings. Here it is:
I can see that you have posted @AnniD but I am scared of losing this one so will post. Hope you are well @Fran IOM and probably on your way home. Have a good day @Valley Gardener and will catch up with you later.
Good Morning all. Yes I am back after dealing with such hot weather. Unbelievable. Haven't yet been able to get to allotment to comment on what may have happened whilst away but if my daughter and SIL hadn't kept up with the watering I think most plants would be looking very sorry for themselves. Also the birds will wonder why they haven't been fed for a week. My 5p clematis has survived so far but don't think I shall plant it out just yet. It acquired three friends namely campanula, Juncus filiformis spirals, and another grass with no name but a nice colour. The second one looks as though it has used curling tongs. Have a place for grasses and ferns so hopefully there will be some room for them. Think I will put campanula in a pot. I found them in a market. Think it was a family affair with such beautiful plants but had to choose small ones for travelling. You should have seen the Heucheras. @Valley Gardener If only I had had some sort of shopping trolley. A stone hare lying fully out with his head looking up. So lovely but so heavy. No chance. Never mind one day.... I have so much to catch up on in the house so had better make a move but will read back and hopefully be able to remark on some of your comments. Hope you are all keeping well. Good to be back. Have sent a PM in case you don't notice.
