  • Good afternoon all. I was in a rush this morning, but I tried to take a photo of a yellow climbing rose that didn't work as the sun was in my eyes. Home now and quickly took this one. It needs deadheading now that I look at it but I can't remember its name.  Like you Fran I hope anni is ok.

@Purplerain,..that's a nice deep yellow bloom,..not to worry about a name as i have many without a name,..having them in bloom is enough.

I captured an image of Rosa ( Rose 'Korresia' ) this evening just as the sun was hitting it.

    A group of Hostas.

Hoping all is well with @AnniD
  • Pelargoniums all coming into bloom,..the odd one out apart from it being white has no leaf markings,..it was a cutting from a cutting down through the years.

Good morning everyone  :). Apologies for my absence, bit of life getting in the way, plus some very sad news of a contemporary of mine that has rather knocked me sideways. However you will be pleased to know that Mouse, Mr B and Hedgehog (s) are all fine and have me well trained as always.
Luckily the weather has been pretty good so l have been out in the garden, neighbour was very pleased that l didn't kill his plants (!) and gave me some sweet peas by way of a thank you which was very kind.
I think today l will be planting out the nemesias and washing pots, the forecast seems pretty good again.
Right, off now to read back and get my Foxy Molly fix. Any interesting hoggy photos,  l will post them.
    Hope all are well. x

@AnniD glad to see you are well but sorry about your news. Last night I brought in some plants and fleeced others. It was down to 5 degrees and that is cold. Hopefully everything planted out will be ok. Like you, I will be doing a "spot the Foxy" then having a walk round the garden before going on my usual Wednesday walk. Enjoy the day everyone.

@AnniD sorry to hear your news, but good to hear from you.

@nultyphilip224. I can't spot Foxy Molly in any of those pics, she must be indoors asleep!
Your garden looks stunning,so secluded, and some gorgeous roses coming on now.

I just happened to pick up a few pots of herbs, and a red Sedum in B+Q whilst OH was pricing up fencing, the herbs are so good steeped in hot water, with  teaspoon of honey, then gargled then swallowed, excellent for irritating coughs. Our Spanish doctor swore by it!

I'm planting cat grass seed today!  Cush is eating my rockery Pinks!
Good forecast for a couple of days,so I hope everyone makes the most of it.😊

    Good Morning all.
Everyone up bright and early.  :) Will be out this morning but should be on the allotment this afternoon. Yesterday was so hot I couldn't contemplate anything strenuous so did some pottering. The sun seems to beat down there from early to late. At least it is cool in the seating area.
@Purplerain  Those roses do look good. I hope my white (Iceberg) climbers look half as good. There are a few buds already. Seems strange that mine are so slow when all these photos on here show so many blooms. Enjoy your walk.
@Valley Gardener  What sort of herbs did you buy? The concoction for a remedy sounds ideal. Will look forward to seeing your red sedum. I bought some cat grass seeds once and they took forever to grow! Nearly gave up on them but eventually I got some grass. I have to be careful with my cat and house plants as he will try anything. A year or so ago he was really ill and I couldn't think why until I found a potted rose I had received as a present  and half of it was missing! It took five days for him to recover. You would think he would have learnt his lesson. I could dig up some of the grass on the allotment and pot it up for him. That's what house cats miss out on.
@AnniD  So pleased you are back on the forum but so sorry to hear you have had sad news. I bet your neighbour was worried in case you had forgotten to water his plants but we can look forward to seeing your sweet peas. Enjoy your garden and pot washing. Sound as though your "visitors' are in fine fettle.
@nultyphilip224   Looking forward to seeing your sweet peas as well once they start flowering. If you have to get up early for a reason you could guarantee that would be the morning you would sleep in if you didn't set the alarm. I must count my heurcheras today and see if I have more than 12. Somehow I think I have! Your garden seems to be enormous and each day it never seems we are looking at the same areas. I am sure you could have a gardening programme of your own on TV.

My son has photos on his phone from the very beginning of the allotment transformation. I asked if he could remember when I first got it and that was early 2015. I can't believe what it was like originally and all the hard work he has put into it.
I was amazed at what he had done shown in pictures. What worries me is my memory! I can hardly remember any of it! I obviously don't give him enough credit for the work done and take it all for granted. Feel quite guilty.   :(

Hope you all enjoy your day in the sun. We have possible rain forecast for the next couple of days but only showers I think. Nothing to soak the ground.

@AnniD  😁😁😁😁 brilliant picture!  Love it!

@Fran IOM    love to see before and after of your patch! I'm the same just can't believe how much work has gone into a plot that was decking and weeds! Oh and 11 dreaded Leylandii.......first to go! My herbs so far are Lemon Thyme,Rosemary,Oregano,Sage and Chives. It said on the label that the bees like the sage, but of course they are all pretty anyway, and most put a zip into salad!!!
@Purplerain meant to comment on your lovely climbing rose,is it perfumed? I too wish mine would do something, just tight little buds so far,I don't think we've had enough warm weather, everything seems to be hovering on the brink, frightened to bloom! One or two Clems have appeared now!
Temps next week are the dizzy heights of 13 during the day!!  Oh well,I suppose it cuts down on watering!😟
Off to plant my cat grass seeds.......thought I'd dig a clump of grass from the lane, pot it,and put in seeds as well,I'm worried he might eat the wrong thing.

I know this is a bit of waffling.......but when we were kids we used to put the foxgloves flowers on our fingers, and I remember sucking the ends of the flowers as they were sweet!!!  Why aren't I dead?

  • @AnniD,
Nice to see you posting and glad that all is well with you,..i won't say the same for Hedgehog as your great image indicates  it looks to be an ill timed exit from the Hoghouse,..do any of them sleep in the Hoghouse?,..or hibernate there in Winter?.

Soooooo you were looking for a Foxy Molly appearance lol,..its got to the stage i have to check where she is before i take an image in the garden,..most times she is behind me,..of course when i turn there she is ready to be captured.

On the Foxy Molly walk today,..off to the right.

  • @Purplerain,
We seem to be a good few degrees warmer here than your location,..the garden of course is even warmer,..i had to place a cushion on the wooden garden seat as the seat was so hot,..its no wonder the roses are popping open.
