Good evening all. @nultyphilip224 you and I have been all topsy turvy with our posts this weekend. Once again, thanks for the compliment on the photo. I love all of yours and yes, I did spot foxy popping up in your image for @AnniD. I also enjoyed the view back down to the cottage as you don't often do that angle. I hope you enjoyed your night out and are not too tired today. I had to watch a dismal film on Netflix last night because my sister wanted to see it. I am too used to suiting myself with the remote control 😀.
@AnniD so sorry that you had a bad night with your mum and dad, but glad that they are ok today. You and OH do so much for the seniors in your family and are very kind. We are the oldest generation in our family but still quite fit and healthy. I would be a terrible invalid and can image myself waving a stick around, trying to swipe at any whippersnapper who came within striking distance, if illness befell me.
@Fran IOM as part of my sisters visit, some of the women in the family decided to take a trip to the GC. I didn't need anything but ended up with a white azalea to go with my red pink and purple ones in the front garden. They have all gone very serious about growing catmint for some reason, so lots of seeds were bought and I provided spare compost and seed trays. My cold frame is half empty now too and lots of plants have gone to new homes. I can't believe that someone came and took the stone cat that you were not going to buy. How rude of them lol.
We have quite a strong wind picking up here but hopefully not damaging. I am looking forward to getting out in the garden tomorrow. Enjoy the rest of your evening and I hope you are still having a lovely time on your break to Tenby @Valley Gardener.
@Purplerain,..it was a very enjoyable night out and came out of the blue,..it does tend to be like that,..not at all planned most of the time,..just a phone call saying we are going for a meal in a certain place and would you come if you are free,..eating out is something i can not resist as its such a change from cooking for myself,..i do like my food i cook but its so much nicer to just sit there and have it presented .
That image taken from the end of the garden tends to be ignored a lot,..i happened to be doing something outside the garden gate and had the camera in my pocket,..a view from just beyond the garden gate below,..its mainly for the purpose of fuel delivery or anything i don't want coming through the cottage.
On the walk today.
Most of the Swans are grouped near to each other but the one below is on its own,..it always had a partner and they tend to have about six young,..no sign of the partner but this one is living in hope,..they tend to miss the other for a very long time.
Good Morning all. The sun is shining so hopefully will still be out this afternoon. There is a bug going round at the moment which depletes you of all energy and if you are unlucky you are sick. Had it for a few days now and going over to the allotment yesterday and not doing anything was a sure sign I wasn't up to it. My son has been really bad with it but I think we are on the mend now. Apparently it's doing the rounds. @nultyphilip224 With your photos they give the impression that your garden is huge. I feel as though we never look at the same area twice as so much changes. I did notice that my Achillea (Cloth of Gold) was rather flat in places and although there was a strong wind I think it looked more like a cat had been around. Took me a few seconds to find Foxy Molly! The buds on my rose bush which are red are coming from a different root to the other so that would explain the difference. Can't believe your foxgloves are 7ft! Mine have a long way to go to catch up. Your walks look so peaceful. Do you ever meet anyone else? Whisper looking as lovely as ever. Know what you mean about having a meal placed in front of you and not having had to cook it yourself. @Purplerain No fun in watching a film you are not interested in. Has your sister gone home now? No doubt you enjoyed your trip to the GC. Hope your azalea fits in with the others. Wonder what the interest in catmint is. It will only attract cats into the garden. Remember a neighbour had some in her garden and the cats used to roll around in it. Wonder where my stone cat has ended up... @AnniD Hope all is well with you. Did Mr B's baby find its way back to the nest? Often wonder how they find their way back. @Valley Gardener Maybe you have another day in Tenby. Will look forward to hearing about break and certain purchases...
Good afternoon everyone Mixed bag of weather here, but generally dry. @nultyphilip224 , as Purplerain says, it's nice to see your garden from a slightly different angle, that's a beautiful wall along the back. I thought my foxgloves were okay, but 7 feet !! Sorry about we ladies and our confusing posts - women, eh ? So sad to see the swan waiting for it's mate to return. @Purplerain thankyou for your kind comments. We haven't heard anything since yesterday morning so l am hoping everything is okay. I have an agreement with dad that l don't ring him, he rings me, but he knows to let me know if anything happens. Glad your sister's visit included a visit to the garden centre, that white azalea sounds lovely. @Fran IOM, hope you are feeling much better now. Are you sure your OH didn't hide the cat while your back was turned? Good job you didn't want to buy it, but l know how you feel. I have been doling out dried food and soaked mealworms all morning. Not only for Mr B and ET, but a load of spuggies (sparrows) as well. Word is definitely getting around that there is a "soft woman" living here. I still can't get anywhere near the compost bin 🙄 so have no idea what happened to the baby blackbird. I didn't do a darned thing gardening wise yesterday so l plan to get out there this afternoon 🤞 Just picturing @Valley Gardener strolling round the garden centre with a large trolley. I wonder if l'm right ? Laters x
Back from my hols, just at the right time before the rain starts! Had a really nice break, and did all the castles in the vicinity.I'm so truly grateful that the cortisone/steroid injection worked so well,it's like a miracle being able to climb steps and walk without pain. We also did a lot of walking in one GC!! Yes Anni I got to Tavernspite! Water lilys were the same price unfortunately!! But came away with other pond plants, plus more rockery plants! A fabulous GC though!I could've spent a fortune!
It's taken me a while to read up on what everyone's been up to,@FranIOM I hope you're feeling better now? And out and about in your secret garden? Pity about the cat though,it would have been a nice addition!
@AnniD Hope things are back to normal with your parents, and they are able to sleep comfortably now. I didn't realise Mr and Mrs B had a family, I can hear baby tweets down the bottom of the garden in the ivy,but they could be anyones brood,as so many use the ivy for cover.I know the robin had a family in there last year.
@Purplerain. Hope you had a lovely time with your sister,I liked the pic of the garden plus Bengal! I know what you mean about the telly! My daughter comes and wants to watch "American rubbish" and we like good old British dramas (as in Line of Duty)😊😊
@nultyphilip224 some stunning photos again! I love the wooded scenes, you have very diverse scenery near you. Your garden is looking so lush! I also had to look carefully for Foxy Molly in the jungle! We all have our favourites in your garden and I think mine are the ferns and rock plants, closely followed by the gorgeous roses!
I've been out for a bimble,to see what's grown in the few days away........A flower on the cosmos,a Poppy, and Alliums about to burst forth! Bees are already getting inside them! I also noticed bees on the wild pink cranesbill, but none on the cultivars?? I wonder why that is?
Have a productive day folks!
Pics are Tenby,Carew Castle and Pembroke Castle, Carew is the one with the water,we were the first to go in at 10.00am,and had it to ourselves for the first hour!

Good afternoon everyone. Lovely to see you back @Valley Gardener and pleased that you enjoyed your holiday pain free. That makes such a difference when you want to do a lot of walking, and your photos are great.
@AnniD it does sound as if you are feeding the neighbourhood now and are run off your feet when doing so. I just happened to notice a post where you said you were in Homebase! Why? 😀. I managed to plant out the white azalea and it is a nice balance against the others. It is only in bud so I will enjoy the flowers for another few weeks I hope.
@Fran IOM I hope you are beginning to get your energy back. There is not much you can do about the garden when you just don't feel like it. I think we all get times like that. I know I do. Sister has gone home and I think she enjoyed herself. The catmint is to be grown for her indoor cats and as DIL has two cats that hardly go out, she decided to grow some as well. It's a nice idea for indoor cats I think.
@nultyphilip224 that's an interesting view from your gate and the wall is very ancient by the looks of it. Does the wall add to the micro climate in your garden? What a gorgeous woodland walk you have. Definitely gold medal standard at Chelsea 😀. I hate to see a swan on its own, poor thing. I wonder if they ever find another mate, although I have always believed that they don't.
I managed plenty of gardening today and continued planting out although I still have some to do. I find my back hurts after a while so I stop then. Fortunately, I don't have back trouble but it must be difficult for those who do. Anyway, enough from me and enjoy the rest of the day.
Sorry to be a pain,I've been looking for the diluting proportions for the Neem Oil, can anyone remember what page it's on? I need to get my Hostas sprayed before the frogs come out for the slugs!!😊😊
