    Good morning all  :)
@nultyphilip224, it always takes me a while to work out the layout of something,  even with lovely photos like yours. I think l have the gist of it now though !
Such a shame about your hosta leaves, l don't think l have ever had a year where even one plant escapes unscathed.
I like your photos of Whisper, they put me in mind of a lion tamer ! That last one seems to say "Right, that's as far as you go, Mister".
@Purplerain , crows are very intelligent so l can well believe they were planning to get revenge on your cat. Mr B decided to take one on the other night, they were both on the neighbour's roof and he kept swooping down on it. It just kept shrugging him off like an irritating fly, but l was so worried that eventually it would loose patience and attack him.
Hope you got all your planting done.
@Fran IOM hope you continue to improve health wise. Your son's girlfriend sounds like a nice young woman, very willing to help. It can't have been very nice for her to be so unwell away from home, although l know you will have taken good care of her. Don't overdo the allotment work !
@Valley Gardener, hope you have sprayed your hostas to beat the pesky slugs. Have you got all your "Tenby bargains" planted ?
Right, Mr B has had first serving of breakfast,  the mealworms are soaking, and l have a list of jobs to do. Rain is forecast for later so l had better get on.
    Have a good day  :)

Good morning everyone. I took a walk round the garden and realised it is definitely warming up now. When it starts to push up from the colder night time temperatures we have had, then everything will flourish and I can begin to enjoy the fruits of my labour at last. Looking at some of the threads here, it shows up the North/South divide quite clearly.

@nultyphilip224 I laughed out loud at the photos of Whisper with your hand on her head. She looks as though she won't tolerate this intrusion of her barnet a moment longer lol. They are such funny little creatures and I can understand why some people don't get along with them, but I can't think of any other animal that can live comfortably with humans and still retain their wild side. I respect that.

The hailstones can do so much damage and not even the Neem Oil stands a chance against them. Still, as long as most of your plants survived, that's the main thing. As usual, some lovely interesting photos and the hedgehog house will be just the job when you finish it.

@Fran IOM I hope you are feeling better, and with Philips instructions along with family help you should be free of your Computer problems. The idea of the catmint is for them to grow it indoors. I am not sure if it will work, but they are going to try.

@AnniD I did laugh at your Nora Batty comment as that is exactly what it looks like. I hope little ET is well and getting his share of breakfast along with everyone else. Edit: As often happens here you post came in before mine anni.

@Valley Gardener hope you are catching up with all that washing that seems to accompany every trip away and that the garden is looking good.

Well that is me off to start what promises to be a very busy day. Take care all.

Good morning all, up very early as I was cold in bed, having ditched my blanket a couple of weeks ago ( can't use duvets as I feel claustrophobic under them) very chilly morning, only 7 ! No wonder everything is on hold for growth!

@nultyphilip224 what a nasty hailstorm to tear up your hostas, how are the geraniums, did they stand up to it?  I agree with Anni, the yellow Casino rose is a fabulous colour. Cats are all so different, mine would love to have their heads scratched and smoothed all day,it depends how they start life as kittens I guess. Yes the Nora Batty stocking look, was a great description.

@AnniD.  Glad to hear mouse is still about, and you've got everyone in line for the breakfast frenzy.I haven't noticed any scrapping amongst our visitors, but had to chase the Jackdaws off a few times yesterday.

@FranIOM Good to hear youre getting over your bug,and feeling more like doing a bit,the weather hasn't been that good to do much, but every pulled weed helps!

@Purplerain Wow!! That was some big kill for a small cat,the crow family do tend to gang up,so puss was safer inside for a while. I saw them attacking a Buzzard the other day.

Not much on today as rain is our forecast!
I managed to get my new bits and pieces in,applied Neem Oil to the Hostas, though I shouldve done it earlier........and fiddled about with some rock edging, before being driven in by a cold wind yesterday! It's a long time since we had tea on the terrace, and the new cast iron umbrella stand hasn't been needed yet!
A day in the "studio" I think!

Hope you all manage to get a bit done between showers!

    Good Morning all.
Don't think it will be a gardening day today with so much rain forecast. Managed to get quite a bit done yesterday but paid for it afterwards with aches and tiredness. As my son said too much too soon. Once you feel better you think you can carry on as usual. Anyway we all seem to be on the mend now and feeling much better thank you.

@nultyphilip224. Can't believe the hailstones did so much damage. Whisper is just like my cat. You have to be so wary when stroking him and yet when he hears the voice of the dog walker he is there like a shot and she can do what she likes with him but is wary at the same time. He rolls over and rubs around her legs like something possessed. Does campanula climb? Forgive me if I don't understand computer jargon! The updates for security have been done. Don't think an adblocker is available on this laptop. It is my local provider that issues the warning. Will have a word with my SIL next time I see him.   Noticed my Choysia is beginning to look quite healthy so maybe it just needed a bit of tlc. Two poppies out now so must get some more photos and also one of Buddy and the cat if they are willing to pose. The grumpy cat who lives nearby (and looks both ways before crossing the road) was sitting outside and I went to stroke him and he made a grab for me so told him that was the last time I would try to be nice.

@AnniD  Yes son's girlfriend is so nice. She is back to her happy self today and had been helping my son sift soil yesterday. She even does the washing up! Think I did overdo the allotment work yesterday but no harm done. Did you look at the SGC email? I had a quick glance but couldn't get over the price of the Lavender. Most expensive £288!!

@Purplerain You will have to let us know what the cats thought of the catmint. I can remember my "Tibby" many years ago who didn't have a bad bone in his body and wouldn't have killed anything and one day in the house there was a brown paper bag lying on the floor and it suddenly moved. Looked inside to find a small bird totally unharmed so took it outside and let it free. To this day I shall never understand how that happened it seems so bizarre.

@Valley Gardener I remember when duvets first became popular we found them so cold after being used to blankets but it takes time to get used to them. Don't think I could go back to blankets again. Did you have to put up with a duvet on your break?
With there not being too many weeds with this dry weather the only place where they are coming up is in the shady area which I usually hose down. I know we need the rain but I think it will give us a lot more work once the weeds take hold.

Out this morning so had better get a move on.
    Enjoy your day all.

@Fran IOM  Yes massive great puffy duvets! Next time we're taking a couple of old folks rugs! That was the only thing that spoilt it.....much too hot!

@Valley Gardener you are the opposite to me. I hated the feeling of being tucked in by blankets,  l love being able to throw the duvet off if l get too hot, or feeling warm without being strangulated.
Managed to get the tomatoes planted into the hanging basket and the runner beans planted before the rain came.
Had another scare with mum this morning, OH was taking his mum to the doctor's, so he had the car. Was just about to order a taxi when dad managed to get a home visit, mum has an infection (which is what we thought). Doctor thinks that why she has no strength so has prescribed pills. Last time something like this happened she ended up in hospital for a couple of weeks so l have my fingers very tightly crossed.
The antics of Mr B, ET and co have been entertaining me again, even they seem to have given up in the rain now though. Have been catching up with episodes of Garden Rescue this afternoon, next best thing to gardening !

@AnniD. I am so sorry to hear your Mum is unwell, anything we get in our older years always seems harder to recover from.  I do hope she's not going to be too poorly.
    Sending a little prayer.

@Valley Gardener. At least you knew that you would soon be going home to your blankets. Good job you weren't away for two weeks. We always take our own pillows!

@AnniD. So sorry you have had another scare with your Mum. Good job the doctor was able to visit and prescribe medication. Hopefully it has been caught in time and she will recover soon and no hospital stay needed. Such a worry.

It has rained all day but think it has actually stopped now. Went to feed the birds and walked around the allotment with an umbrella! Everything seems to have gone mad now that the rain has given them a good water. As soon as I went in the shed the birds came down and started tucking in. The blackbird who sings all afternoon even if it's raining must get rather hungry as he never stops. Managed to see him this afternoon right at the top of a tall tree. Do hope it isn't raining tomorrow.

@Fran IOM, it hasn't been the rain so much later in the afternoon, as a very chilly breeze. I've got goose pimples and have dug out a jumper. It's late May, for heaven's sake!
Edited to add, l have avoided the Secret garden club - for now !
