Good morning everyone. It's dullish here at the moment and around 11c so not anywhere near your temperatures @nultyphilip224. Tonight it's down to 6c so I will still err on the side of caution with the tender plants. I had a nothing to do day last week like you, but that has quickly passed and I have plenty to do now. I am going to attempt to assemble the new lawnmower that I bought grudgingly, as it arrived too late yesterday for anyone to do it for me. I like your plant arrangements but how long will they stay like that? I can imagine you sitting looking at them, then getting up and swopping more things around 😀.
I need to get on with the dusting @AnniD as my sister is coming to stay for the weekend. Not my favourite chore. So glad your husband is feeling better and got treated so quickly. It's always a worry when things like that happen, but you are right about our NHS when they swing in to action. We are lucky to have them. I didn't realise that Mr B had a wife and children, but he is so handsome that I am sure his offspring will be equally good looking. Try and post a photo of them if you can if they ever come in to feed.
@Valley Gardener I missed your post about your break in Tenby, so have a lovely time. I see Anni has been doing some GC research for you and I hope you come back with a water lily bargain. Your tadpoles seem to enjoy the pond and are well on their way to becoming frogs. A frog sitting on a water lily is an iconic image so have the camera ready.
@Fran IOM thanks for captioning your images, they are lovely, and it would be good to see the allotment before you began. The Heucheras do well for you and they must like your conditions, all 31 of them! Did you look at SGC and see anything worth getting? Apart from the few things I bought early on, I haven't looked as I have so many plants growing from seed that still have to go out or be given away. I have too many Tumbling Toms, so last week gave one to my ex for his balcony. He is not a gardener but has taken to calling the plant "him" and has bought tomato food and keeps asking about watering etc. I think he is treating it like a child. I hope it doesn't die on him lol.
Well I suppose I better get started and swing into action, so keep well everone and enjoy your day.
Good Morning all. Would have been a bit earlier but when I logged into the forum a virus alert came up so we have been trying to see why. It stated it would appear every 30 minutes if it hasn't been cleared but my security should be automatic. We shall see. Today not quite so sunny yet. It was quite cloudy yesterday but very warm. This lack of rain certainly stops the weeds from appearing. At the moment it's just a case of tidying up so nothing too strenuous apart from more soil sifting. @nultyphilip224. Foxy Molly has to make sure that you are still there. I am sure she would panic if she couldn't see you. With all this moving pots around I think I can see Foxy Molly's water dish so she is making sure you don't move that. What I don't like about those metal hanging baskets is the chain gets mixed up with the plants when you take it down so you have to be very careful. Maybe next year my foxgloves will put on a better show. There are a few still to flower so they could be an improvement. Looking forward to seeing your mystery blooms on the rose bush. Is the cat in the photo a friend of Whisper's? @AnniD Pleased to hear that OH is on the mend. Before you know it Mr B. will have the babies outside your door teaching them the best place to get a good breakfast. I had two baby sparrows in the tree the other day with Mum or Dad going backwards and forward to them. Hope you have a nice quiet day. @Purplerain. Hope you get the lawn mower assembled. Not something I would be inclined to take on. I am sure your sister won't mind a bit of dust here and there but then I would probably be doing the same. Sounds like you will have a busy weekend. Does she live far away? I did have a quick look at the SGC email but as yet haven't been tempted. Hope the Tumbling Tom survives...
Will now think of other things that need doing so have a good day all. @Valley Gardener is probably packing an overnight bag for her weekend. Wouldn't mind that myself. No posts from @islander so do hope she is ok.
Garden (and cat) looking good there @Purplerain, hope you have a nice weekend with your sister. @Fran IOM always worrying when you get one of those virus messages , glad it seems to have sorted itself out. I was planning on a quiet day, ended up tidying the clematis Montana. Thought it would be a reasonably quick job but ended up taking it off part of the wall as it had completely engulfed a hanging basket bracket. Poor Mr B has been backwards and forwards all day long, l ended soaking mealworms as l thought it would be better for the babies. I was just getting a glass of water about 6 o'clock when l looked up and there he was on the window box, requesting more supplies ! He distracted me so much, l forgot to switch the oven on, so dinner is going to be a bit late tonight. Hope everyone has a relaxing/exciting evening according to taste.
My timing is bang on,..1200,..or 23.59hrs,..we had a very humid day and warmer than yeserday as i had to shed more clothes in order to do a few jobs in the garden,..i found space for a tray of Tall Salvia seedlings,..sent to me in seed form by @granma,..i managed to create two decent locations for them,..one lot below protected from one dog and one cat,..being a new addition they might just be inquisitive and trod on the seedlings,..or worse lol.
Ah so there are Mr and Mrs chicks,..you will be watching for them to appear and when they do you will have your hands full,..with Mealworms as well lol,..the Sparrows with chicks as well holy cow!,..the chicks are nice to see as they puff up feathers and are all a quiver,..the parents are so unruly,..what a racket they create when feeding in my garden.
My garden Robin is also looking a bit scruffy,..it was waiting to see would i dig up some worms,..luckily there were a few near the surface.
I wonder did you get a start assembling the Lawnmower?,..maybe you even have it in action.
Well i didn't move the containers and pots any further,..only because i was planting out seedlings and taking apart an old Dog House,..its one with a small entrance though big enough inside for a medium sized Dog,..not big enough for Foxy Molly to get into,..so i may convert it into a Hedgehog Hibernation House,..or just a shelter for them when not hibernating.
That's a very nice image you posted,..including the Cat,..its like an image one would see on a garden magazine as all the plants though of various sizes all blend in nice and tidy,..well captured image.
Interesting that the Virus Alert popped up as you logged in,..possibly a false positive from one of the Sites Ads,..do you use the software Adblock ?,..or a similar one.
Foxy Molly was tested to see would she react when i didn't appear to be coming behind her after she went around some bushes,..just a few seconds elapsed then she came running back at full speed.
That's another bad construction in those hanging baskets,..how the chain gets in the way when one takes down the basket,..i used to remove the chains and replace them with strong plastic coated wiring so they remained rigid when working on the basket.
Big blooms from Rose ( Rosa 'Ice Cream' ).
Lots of Lanterns from the Crinodendron hookerianum 'Chilean Lantern Tree'
Good morning everyone @nultyphilip224 what, no photo of Foxy Molly 😮 ? (only kidding ). Even a superstar has a day off. Your robin looks in a bit better condition than "mine", he (?) has the biggest black eyes, and as the weeks have gone on they've got bigger and bigger as he gets smaller and smaller. I make sure he gets his share of soaked mealworms as well. OH seems full of energy this morning, my turn to feel like a wrung out dishcloth ! Still 2 cups of tea and a bacon roll and hopefully l will get those nemesias planted. Hope all have a lovely day
Good morning all. Sunny now but supposed to cloud over with a few showers later.
@Purplerain. Bengal looks quite majestic sitting there. Does she have a home nearby? Certainly doesn't look like a stray. Don't suppose your cats like the idea of her making herself at home in their garden. Lovely arrangement of plants you have there. What plant is the tall one with purple flowers? Garden fork at the ready I see. Is your sister a gardener? @AnniD I have not given up on the clematis I planted out which looks dead as I planted another one some weeks ago which I thought was dead but didn't pull it out as it as quite firmly fixed and now it has two leaves on it so hopefully the other one will do the same. Mr B obviously thinks his food supply is more important than yours. I went to get the dinner out of the oven the other day - stone cold oven not switched on... I've never seen a baby robin. Wonder what size they are. Maybe you will find out. Didn't get a second message about the virus so hoping all is ok. @nultyphilip224 Posting bang on the midnight hour almost. My robin was too late visiting yesterday as I was just packing up and he could have had some nice juicy worms if he had been earlier. Your robin is looking rather scruffy! Bless him. Lovely hosta you have there. Do you find any slugs? I have only found one or two very small ones so far. I don't have an adblocker as they don't usually bother me but could be the reason. That is certainly one big rose. That photo of mine of the pink rose - it's rather strange as all the other buds opening are much smaller and dark red. Completely different type altogether. When watching the gardening programme last Sunday morning I actually learnt something. When dead heading the primulas take off some of the top leaves to give the flowers a chance and on doing that I found flowers which you wouldn't have known were there hidden underneath.
Hope you all have a good day and @Valley Gardener gardener is enjoying her weekend looking round the garden centre? We shall see... Think Anni will be to blame for that.

Fantastic lupin gallery I have is much bigger this year and the flower spikes are just starting to get colour on them.
