@Fran IOM,..job done,..as @AnniD said someone will come up with a cunning plan
Ah yes i sometimes scroll up and down to see what i am responding to,..other times i find its best to make wee notes,..that is the best way,..however i find that as i am typing and looking at my notes i often wonder,..did i type this before?,..or am i just remembering what i was thinking as i was making my notes?
@AnniD,..yeaaaaah Mouse is back,..probably just on holiday lol,..delighted to see it,..i hope it doesn't get squashed between two romancing Hogs.
my cats on patrol, hoping i will take them walkies ... That huge black one at the back is a sheer bully, but I love him and...my sleeping beauty, who saw I was about to take his photo, and closed his eyes again. 7 months ago he was a terrified street stray,
@islander,..nice to see your two cats on patrol,..lovely to know you took in the one that was a terrified street cat,..is that a Fuchsia on the right side of the walk?,..do you do much knitting?,..seeing the wool reminded me of Donegal,..i had a friend there and her Mother plus all the neighbours knitted Aran Type Jumpers.
Good morning everyone. There is so much to see and read on the thread today that I don't know where to start! I was out last night at the theatre, and as I drove home the rain came on. I managed to put a plastic tablecloth over the waiting to go out plants, and grabbed the swing cushions before any damage was done. It's still raining, but very gently so good for the garden.
@Fran IOM at last. It is such a lovely oasis you have there. I can see that you have put a lot of work into the allotment and I love the way you have contrasted the colours. Your Heuchera are very at home in the garden and I like your stone cat. It is very much as I imagined it and I can see why you love spending time there. I should follow your tip and buy more gardening tools. It would save time in the long run. Like you, I only use a text and call phone so it was great that Philip was able to help out.
@nultyphilip224 so many gorgeous images today. I like the creamy yellow foxglove with the pink tips, and that photo of the arum lily with the red rose popping up is very artistic. Was it Constable who liked to add a touch of red in his paintings? That was so nice that you were able to help Fran out and get her garden on the thread.
What a disaster about your ex losing her cat. Very distressing and as you have said before, it is the not knowing that plays on your mind. That bengal never lived here, but Fran has one that visits her allotment so that would have been what you were thinking of.
@AnniD I wonder what joys your camera will hold today. There is quite a little mystery with all the comings and goings in you garden at night. @Valley Gardener I think it is time to get your paintbrush out to illustrate it all. Cush is just right for your cat, nice and squidgy.
Well, I don't know whether to get a raincoat on and keep planting or not. I didn't get to half as I intended, as my back was getting sore with all the bending. It is warm, and the rain is soft so I can't see what harm it would do.
Second coffee about to be made so enjoy the day whatever you decide to do. Take care all.
@nultyphilip224 . Some beautiful images philip, you are so lucky to live in such an unspoilt area. I love the foxgloves too, very unusual! Foxy Molly is worried she's going to disappear in the long grass!! The Delphs are all about 8" high, so not going to flower very early,I think they will be better next year. My Daniel Deronda clem has one flower! I think my cheap Lidls ones will be just as good! "Josephine" is another expensive one I wouldn't buy again!
Fran I can't believe how pretty your allotment space is!!! I certainly didn't imagine it to be like a secluded private garden,no wonder you get there as often as poss! Do you live nearby? It's lovely, you've done a lot of work that's for sure! It goes without saying that I covet your stone cat, isn't he great!
Anni.....pleased that little mouse is back for his evening nosh!
Purplerain . Was it a play you went to? Hope you enjoyed it whatever it was! It's raining gently here too, don't get too wet if you do go out! I only popped out yesterday to put the coffee grounds on the garden!! Must go and inspect things today,it changes everyday.
Lovely pics Islander! That kitty landed on his feet! He looks so contented, glad to have a secure home now. Nice knitting too! Well spotted Philip!
Well I hope everyone has a good day,and the weather gives us a bit of a break to go out for a while!
The whole truth is an instrument that can only be played by an expert.
Good morning all @nultyphilip224 thank you for my daily Foxy Molly fix and all the other photos, they make me feel very calm (for a while at least !). Thanks also for revealing the secrets of Fran's lovely place. @Purplerain l know what you mean about lots to read, no wonder l get confused at times. Don't get me wrong though, l really enjoy it. Hope you enjoyed your theatre trip. @Valley Gardener, you are definitely sounding much, much better - strange how you can tell things from the way people post on a forum. I hope l'm right in saying that ! @Fran IOM , lovely to see the photos. Those heucheras are a rival to Philip's . Like the cat too. OH has put the camera right down the bottom of the garden under the hedge where the hedgehog house is and there is a tiny gap in the fence. Last night one hedgehog came in, changed his (?) mind, went out, then changed it again and came back. Sure enough, next thing he was bowled over from left field, rolled around like a pinball, then left in a ball in the corner. He eventually unravelled, and made his way rather groggily back through the gap. Mr B has decided he loves me again , which translates as he has got fed up of searching for insects etc. I have already fed him twice this morning and told him that l know l am a soft touch 🙄. Anyway, must get on lots to do, apologies to anyone l've missed or questions l have ignored. Have a lovely Saturday everyone
Good Morning all. First of all Three Cheers for Philip for getting my photos on the forum. Not used to having so many people in the house at one time so finding it hard to get time on my own. Also this morning the one line of keys on the laptop are sticking very badly so it is so frustrating getting them to work. Usually it's not so bad once I get going but today it is not good at all especially when I feel I need to post quite a lot. Haven't got very far I'm sorry but will have to come back later and hope the laptop is in a better mood. Could be here all day...
Just thought I would post this for a laugh and maybe some advice. I was given some fresh eggs, and one is...blue! I have put it beside a normal one for comparison, but I have been in and out of the kitchen debating whether to eat it or not. So far, not is winning 😀.
@Purplerain I have seen blue eggs in the supermarket, Cotswold Legbar.
Old Cotswold Legbar 6 Free Range Eggs With Pastel Coloured Shells
In 1928, botanist and explorer, Clarence Elliott brought jungle fowl back from Patagonia to Stow-on-the Wold, Gloucestershire. These rare birds were crossbred to create generations of pedigree hens that to this day lay beautiful, colourful, hard-shelled eggs with deep yellow yolk.
Must admit l have never tried them though. I'd be more inclined to scramble or poach rather than boil for some reason. Pretty colour !
Hi again! On my own at the moment so thought I would have another attempt at posting. So far so good. Had to make sure my password to get on my laptop didn't include any letters on the sticky row. It was passed on to me from my SIL so can't grumble as it didn't cost me anything. @nultyphilip224. As you say it will be a while before you can use that container now that Whisper has taken possession. I am in awe of your foxgloves. When mine are fully flowering I shall take a photo and you will understand why! Never seen lilies so perfect as yours. I can't understand the mentality of some people when it comes to looking after animals. Your son's ex didn't have a clue and you spend your time wondering what has happened. Just maybe someone took the cat in. Whenever we moved Tibby just took it for granted it was his new home and never wandered anywhere. @Purplerain. Hope you enjoyed your evening at the theatre. It was raining very heavy here this morning but think it has stopped now. Buddy came back from his walk soaking wet but very happy. The reason I have duplicate tools is the fact that I inherited some with the allotment. Not organised enough to think I could misplace one. Thank you for your comments on the allotment. If colours appear to be contrasted it is by sheer accident! @Valley Gardener. Thanks for your comments on the allotment as well! It certainly feels secluded when you are there and I only live across the road. Now you know why I had to buy that stone cat! Looks very grumpy but that adds to it. @AnniD. Will explain the whereabouts on the photos later as I have to try out the "Quote" to bring the photo to my posting. Don't hold your breath! I think your hedgehog area sound like a night club when they have all had a few. The bully is probably bouncer. @Purplerain. With regard to your eggs - they sell half a dozen in M&S in all different colours. Thought I would treat myself once and bought them expecting to taste something exotic but you couldn't tell the difference to the normal eggs we buy. Very disappointing. I have a feeling I have missed quite a lot. Can't believe how well the laptop has behaved. Not one key has stuck so hasn't taken me long to type all this. I can touch type but it's amazing how quick the young ones are nowadays using probably a couple of fingers. No need to learn to touch type these days. Will now see if I can bring the photos forward. Thanks for all your lovely comments especially to Philip who made it happen. Have a good day all and hopefully the rain will have stopped. Forgot to mention that my son said the cat was in the allotment this morning so with a bit of luck the owner should know where she is.
Thanks for your help girls. That makes sense, as the lady breeds free range hens, and I was told won eleven firsts at a hen show. She must have the Eggs-Factor. I still don't fancy it, as I'm frightened a budgie might pop out. Glad your laptop is behaving itself now Fran.
