@Purplerain. You had me worried when you said "We did it again" as I thought you had found out I had ordered from SGC last night! I hadn't noticed your post has slipped in before mine. Panicked before as there was a large box in the porch and I thought it was more plants I had forgotten about but was for next door as they leave them here if they are out. Phew! Was throwing it down with rain a short while ago but beginning to look a bit brighter now. It is going to be one wet allotment. @AnniD. That is a very clear photo of Mr H. Looks as though he is just out for a morning stroll. No doubt the restaurant would have been closed at that time. As above I did make an order last night. Bought some grasses to either put in pots or go with the other grasses I have. Festuca glauca Blaufkuchs, Festuca amethystina and Pennisetum Villosum. All worked out to include code and free postage. Just pence over ten pounds. Bet you are glad you deleted the email? Think they must have had a rush on orders and running out of plants if they only had half as many to offer. Wonder why.
Don't know yet if it is a gardening afternoon or a stay indoors one.
@nultyphilip224. Lovely clear pics of your hedgehog family, and nice to see Whisper enjoying the last rays! Has Foxy Molly got over her dunk? I bet that was a bit chilly! I would've been annoyed about the prescription too, thinking what a waste of precious dry weather!Glad to hear you're sorted.
@Fran IOM I wonder if you'll get out thisafternoon? It sounds as though you will have lots of planting to do 😁😁 May is an exciting month in the garden,a shame it's been so cold.
@Purplerain,Fish looks brilliant for his age,and your parsley is surviving! That's good! I'll try and get pics of the Tads before they climb out!
@AnniD your Blackbird is beautiful,so is your garden! That border is to die for too! I wish mine looked like that!
Today OH is golfing,so I've been out doing some bits, replanted Verbena Salvia Alliums, back to where they were before next door started his "excavations"At least we have a wall down from the terrace now,so no danger of losing plants down the hole.I've also put the Ceanothus in against said wall. There is a garden centre/Fish and pond place near the golf course,so he's got instructions to call in and buy a dwarf pond lily! His choice of colour,so that will please him! In now, with feet up and a cuppa!!

Just a quick visit to say "hello!" - and to say, @Fran IOM, that there's a dwarf version of "Red Robin" which grows to about 3 feet. It's Photinia 'Little Red Robin'. The leaves are similar to its big cousin, but smaller. They (the big ones) don't grow all that well here as it's a bit too cold in the winter, but I saw some healthy bushes in York at the weekend, covered in flower buds. I think they only flower if you don't prune them...
@nultyphilip224 - we have this plant growing wild in the boggy parts of our park:
We call it "Marsh Marigold" or "King-cup" - Caltha palustris is its botanical name, I think. It looks very like your Irish "Creeping Jenny". Plants have so many different common names it gets quite confusing... having worked in a garden centre for several years I got used to the local names for some plants, but found there were always some common names which applied to more than one plant. "Black-eyed Susan" was a case in point. There are at least three completely different plants with that common name.
The sun is now shining again after a cloudburst early this afternoon!
Since 2019 I've lived in east Clare, in the west of Ireland.
Good morning Hope everyone is okay today, no post from @nultyphilip224 (not that it is compulsory , l just look forward to the photos). Lots of hoggy huffing on the patio last night, Hedgehog was in the mood for "lurve". I wonder if he was successful? Realised at 3am that for some odd reason l planted a penstemon in the wrong place 🙄, so there's one job for today. Also maybe planting up the begonias for MIL's planters. Many thanks for your kind comments on my garden 😊, l think Mr B made it look better! Speaking of which, guess who l can hear...... Better get on with the day, have a good one
Good morning all. @AnniD. It is very quiet on the thread. Lovely sunny day here so hopefully will be able to achieve many things. Just about planted everything out now apart from a Clem which will have to go out today but worried in case it is too soon. Went to allotment yesterday but after an hour and a half felt so tired I had to give up. What a time to remember you had planted your penstemon in the wrong place! Hope Mr B enjoyed his breakfast. @Valley Gardener Rain actually stopped yesterday about 1.30 so the allotment was very wet but managed to get a few things done which had been waiting. Rain seems to have done the plants some good even if we don't like it. What colour dwarf pond lily did you get? Sounds as though you are well on the mend. @Liriodendron. Many thanks for the info regarding Red Robins. I didn't know you could get a smaller version with such an apt name. Mine have not reached the size yet for pruning but don't think the one I can see nearby has ever been pruned so I shall look out to see if any flowers appear. I googled the little ones and they are rather cute. Don't tempt me! Enjoy your day all and hope it's sunny like here.
Good morning everyone, and a beautiful one too! The dwarf Lily was a no no! OH phoned me and said they are £18,do you want to spend that much?? No way for my tiny little pond,I think a handful of duckweed would provide shade for the amphibians! I paced myself yesterday, did things slowly and with care! We didn't get any showers.
I bought a really well designed bird seed feeder from B+Q, had to throw away the expensive one as it involved screwdrivers to get it cleaned out properly. The new one is so simple,it can be done quickly on a dark rainy night!!!😊 Also got a £4 pink climbing rose! It's supposed to bloom from June to the Autumn frosts,I haven't a clue what it's called though. Have a great day.

Good morning all. Lovely day yesterday but there must have been a lot of rain overnight as the ground is very damp. Back to sunshine now. I managed to do everything on the list and the tumbling tom tomatoes are planted one each to a Morrisons flower bucket, and settled in the back porch.
@Liriodendron. We have a lot of Photinia growing here, but I have never seen them flower. Most people grow them as a hedge so that is probably why. I have the Little Red Robin growing as a standard in a pot. It never seems to put on much growth and after three years the trunk is still quite thin, so I keep it out of the wind in case it blows over.
@AnniD and @Fran IOM good luck with your penstemon and clematis planting.
@Valley Gardener your post came in before mine and I didn't see it. How silly for a bird feeder to be so complicated. Glad you got an easy one. I wouldn't have paid £18 for a water lily either. Enjoy your day.
@Purplerain .I'm glad to hear you wouldn't have paid that either! How do they justify the cost? Those little floating lettuce were over £3 each, only to die off,at the end of summer!! I'd rather spend the money on nice perrenials, something you can split and make more of! Following in @nultyphilip224 s footsteps 👣! 😊

@Valley Gardener, £18 !😮 Reminds me of that Harry Enfield sketch "Saw you coming". Went out to move the penstemon, then decided l liked it where it was so left it. Planted another one instead. As you said, they came from cuttings so didn't cost anything . Still have a few things to plant, but they will have to wait until the foxgloves go over. Neighbours are away soon so need to go over for watering instructions etc. The penstemon l planted today was a cutting from their garden (with permission !), so l might have a look and see what else l can acquire. Hope everyone is enjoying this weather and getting lots done.
Good Evening all. Looks like we have all had a good weather day. Blue sky with no clouds to be seen but slightly chilly in the breeze. Spent two hours this morning jet washing the yard at home to end up with a bruised finger with no feeling in it at all due to holding the switch on all the time. Had to put it in warm water to get the feeling back and then later realised that there is a lock on the handle so I didn't have to hold it down all the time. Not long after that the cat decided I would be a good landing board and jumped on me clinging on with his claws and ripped a piece of flesh out of my little finger. Not good. Feel as though I have been in the wars. Had shopping to do and then the allotment with not much energy left. @Valley Gardener Like everyone else I can't believe they would charge £18 for a dwarf lily. Bet they don't sell many. You are very sensible taking things slowly. I know what you mean about those bird feeders that have a screw. I have a couple and it takes ages to get them back together. A screwdriver, pair of tweezers to hold the nut (?) to try and place it where the screw will come out.... Why do they make things so difficult. I have others that fit together no trouble at all. @Purplerain Managed to plant out my clematis. It is about six inches high so I'm hoping it is mature enough to take. At least it will have some good weather to get it started. @AnniD Hope you get some good cuttings in return for your watering the neighbours garden. Daughter and SIL turned up when I was on the allotment and SIL informed me that I had aphids on my climbing roses which I couldn't see. My daughter took many photos which we are trying to sort out to enable me to put some on this thread! They looked good on her camera so if we can work it out you may get to see The Secret Garden. Enjoy the rest of your evening including those absent at the moment.
