    Good Morning all.
Lovely sunshine at the moment so hoping it is going to continue and prove as good as it was yesterday.
@MUMMYNATURE  Welcome! I am sure someone here will advise you.
@Valley Gardener  Do hope today shows an improvement in your progress. Love the sprouting on your rustic rail! Are you going to leave it or take them off? If you had wanted it to grow nothing would have happened. Just think of all the growth you will see when you are fit again. Something to look forward to.
@Purplerain I don't normally measure in cms as they are foreign to me but the tape measure must be quite an up to date one as it didn't give a choice of inches so had no choice. Will look for another tape measure. I think my Heucheras have had a taste of Miraclegro    :)  I shall be watching my raspberry cane for signs of life.
@AnniD Read your post in the Cat Deterrent thread. Well done. Why they have to start these threads I don't know. There have been so many. Placed an order with SGC last night. That fascinating Hosta. When I clicked on it, it said 40 others were viewing! Wonder if that is a ploy to get you to buy if so it worked for me. Also Astilbe, Veronica and Lobelia. With the code and free postage worked out well. Was quite strange on the order as I was going to use the last code given on the thread SGC but it was already locked into my order for me to use?? Enjoy your busy day.
@nultyphilip224  You do like your stones! They are fascinating. Saw all your lovely Heucheras on the thread. Interesting about cuttings from cuttings. You may yet produce something that no one has seen before. Looking forward to getting my new Hosta. It will still get a spray of Neem oil. I shall let my Hebe continue to grow green and not bother to cut it off. As my clematis is a few inches from the tree I think I will place something as a temporary measure to encourage it to climb. Many thanks for all the answers to my queries.

Like all of you I must get on but you can get lost in the forum sometimes and not realise how much time has passed. Just a quick question anyone - do you go into all posts or just those that appear of interest to you??

Have a good day and hopefully the sun is shining where you are.

@Fran IOM just popped in for a coffee. I have been out there for over an hour 😇 so your question about posts got me thinking. I don't read everything but do most things.  I try to avoid the provocative ones now, like one that is running at the moment. I read a little bit of that and someone wrote a horribly descriptive post that has haunted me. I wish I hadn't seen that post. I don't bother with threads about landscaping or garden tools and avoid the "blank canvas" posts too.

Glad I am not the only one in my imperial measurement bubble lol. Are there any posts that you avoid?

@Purplerain. Have stopped indoor work to have a bite and a cuppa. Like to be ready to go to allotment no later than two. Seems to have clouded over at the moment. My main reason for asking is the fact that I like to get rid of all the purple markers! That involves opening and closing probably without reading unless something catches my eye. Rather time consuming! Mostly avoid, like yourself, landscaping and garden tools etc. and a lot of identification ones. Also ones of which I would be of no help. (Most of them!) As you say some can take a turn for the worst and although you would like to add something you feel the need to avoid. It takes all sorts as they say.😞

Will measure my Heuchera in inches today and see if you got the conversion right!
    Enjoy your garden.

Afternoon/evening everyone  :) We have had some torrential rain showers and rumbles of thunder,  so no gardening for me today.
@MUMMYNATURE , l think your seedlings will be okay, just remove the plastic as soon as you see signs of growth.
@Valley Gardener  l feel your frustration, l really do. If there's no improvement first thing tomorrow,  back you go (just call me Dr AnniD). At least you can order your OH around to do your bidding. I think the willow arbour principle is the same as your plant rails.
@Purplerain l have done as you instructed and clicked the "buy" button  ;) They have free postage if you buy 4 salvias so that's what l did......
There is still no sign of Mouse but funnily enough l am not quite so worried about him as l was Hedgehog. I think of him as having the wit and cunning to extricate himself from any tricky situation . Maybe l am confusing him with Dangermouse !
@Fran IOM you have seen my confession on the plant buyers thread, but that isn't the whole truth,  oh no. As well as the packs of 12 violas reduced from £3 to 75p, we went to B&Q as well. I got 5 white armerias and 3 pink ones - can't remember the deal off hand, but as well as the buy so many for x amount deal, they had another 20% off on top of that. I couldn't let that go by. It's all OH's fault anyway, he took me into these places to look at stuff for MIL's garden project  >:)
I know what you mean about getting sidetracked by the forum. I only look at threads that are of interest and just ignore the rest. My heart sinks when a cat related one appears because it's pretty predictable which direction it will go. As @Purplerain said, some of the posts were pretty graphic. I am quite a fast reader, and l'd got quite a way through before my brain properly processed it. The obvious question is why read the thread, but sometimes you can get a considered debate, (sometimes, l said !  :) ) and l am fascinated by the way things can go from what is a simple question into all sorts of different areas.
Anyway, l have a fish pie to prepare for supper, so had better get on. Hope everyone has a good evening  :)

    Good evening all.
Another perfect gardening day. No coat weather again. Really warm. Managed another two hours of weeding and in theory that is it all done. But they are popping up again in places I have done. That was the "fruit area" finished which leaves me with a plot of approx 11ft x 8.5ft with nothing in it apart from the few strawberries etc. Will have to think of something to plant there or else it will just be a continual weeding job.
Meant to say yesterday that I drew the bedroom curtains at the perfect moment as I saw the cat in the allotment and her owner collecting the mail from where she used to live. The cat saw her and was there like a shot. I then saw her holding tight on to the cat in an attempt to get her back to her new home. Hope she succeeded. At least I know that she is wanted.
@Purplerain. The Heuchera measured approx 22" diameter and 18" height of flowers. Not quite exact in cms.
@AnniD. So you pressed the "buy" button! If you don't and leave things in your cart they often come back to ask if you had forgotten. I had the same 20% off when I last went to B&Q which reminds me I haven't been there for maybe a couple of weeks...
Placed that order with SGC and this morning got an email to say it had been dispatched! Think they must work through the night. Can't understand the code already being on my order. I've also noticed that when you click on the link on the thread it brings up a different code each time so would seem you can use it more than once. Know what you mean by some of the threads. It's sad that they can end up like they do. Do you just leave the purple markers on? Hope you enjoyed your fish pie.
Hope Philip and Valley Gardener have had a good day.
Enjoy the rest of your evening.
P.S. How do you put a link on to a thread? Have tried but didn't work  :(
  • Hi Folks,..i see nearly all of you had nice weather,..same here,..Foxy Molly went for a very long walk and run,..more of the latter i must add,..its the freedom of the huge green meadows with nothing else for her to do but roll around and run.

There are two bridges like this however the other is almost at ground level.

    See i crossed it.

  • @Purplerain,..i was away from the house for several hours,..when i got home i couldn't remember what time i left the house,..the Neem Oil turned up a day early,..luckily i was at home as i was thinking Friday was delivery day,..so they stated.

So you were free today and no better place to be than enjoying oneself in the garden,..i wonder what would us gardeners be doing were we not gardeners,..i can not think of many things that would hold my attention on a daily basis.

I wouldn't have noticed the Heuchera Thread were it not mentioned here,..of course the danger of posting in another Thread when one could keep it going and so end up posting daily in two Threads is highly possible,..at one time i had four full time Threads to keep going,..they lasted for about 9 years until i left that Forum.

In bloom today,..Creeping Jenny 'Lysimachia nummularia'.

This is a wild flower that lives alongside rivers and wetlands,..as the name states it spreads and creeps but easy to keep in one spot by growing it in a container with no drainage but soil and at least 15 cm =6 inches of water.
  • @Fran IOM,..so you spotted the owner of the cat collecting her mail,..you were rewarded by opening the curtains at that time,..good to know the cat went to her and that its wanted by her,..i had visions of it straying back to familiar ground because it felt at home there,..so it has two lives to live.

Lol Raspberry Canes look like nothing before growth begins,..good idea to feed your Heucheras with a drop of Miracle Grow,..i used the Neem Oil Mix today as soon as it arrived as i ran out of it about a week ago,..even with postage and VAT it was cheaper for me to purchase two 250 ml bottles,..buying that amount  here would cost me 57.50 euro,..with Amazon i saved 29 euro,..mine was the thick Neem which the bottle had to be placed in hot water to turn it to liquid,..like Honey when it solidifies.

As for looking at Threads,..if they are of interest to me i will look in,..if i can help i will post,..though i hate when someone asks me something in that Thread and i reply but never get a response to my reply,..it puts me off posting,..i do very much dislike when i start a Thread and along the way someone posts something that has no reference to the Thread then or in the past,..doesn't even mention anything in connection to that Thread,..grrrrrrr,.. lol i need to vent some times.

    Growing alongside each other,..Aquilegia.

  • @AnniD,..i started collecting stones for the garden many years ago,..each time i went navigating the lake i would bring home at least one stone,..i haven't kicked the habit yet lol.

So 'Dangermouse' lol,..has not surfaced as yet,..i hope its safe and resting itself,..you are right Mice are cute enough,.. at least Jerry was brilliant,..he of 'Tom and Jerry Fame',..however they do lapse now and then,..Owls are something we forgot about and always think of Cats,..oh Mouse will turn up,..keep an eye out.

Lol at your Virtual Shopping,..it doesn't surprise me at all as you are like 'Road Runner',..you are forever on the go.

Yep Foxy Molly had her good outing today,..thankfully the meadows are free of water now.

    Back at home.
