Nice garden coming along.. I rather like the house next door... I've got those box bay windows..
The house next door up the hill is lovely, wonderful garden with a really nice couple in their late 80s living their.

Have a nice chat to them now and again.  Apparently they were offered to buy the field our houses are now build on from the farmer about 60yrs ago but life was to busy to look after it.  I think they regret it just a little bit now.

Not sure when the house would have been build as their are a variety of Victorian and Georgian houses on that road

@Marlorena, This is my poorly 'Golden Tribute'. I think it's got very bad black spot on the stems and is probably going to die sooner than later. I don't think anything can be done now it's affecting the stems?

The red stems look rather lurid in this photo but they are definitely reddish this year.

that first photo, I don't worry about things like that... I've got several roses, some of my healthiest roses, have canes like that... here's one below... the foliage on this rose is perfect, and full of buds right now... a lot of people would worry about this, but often it's not a problem...

    foliage off the same cane..

however, in your case, the canes that are red, depends on how bad it is I can't enlarge the photos, but I might cut those out and leave the green ones, even if they have the spots..  there's new growth on your rose, so up to you whether you keep it or not, or get rid... sometimes life's too short to put up with plants, roses, that just don't do well enough...

@AlliumPurpleSensation    they sound like good neighbours, and obviously of an age just want a quiet life like we all do...   you're probably lucky to have them..

@Marlorena, Many thanks for that advice, I'll have another look at it tomorrow, would like to save it if I can, it's one of my favourites - I don't much like yellow roses but this one is different somehow.

..as it's quiet today, just to highlight the benefit of bending canes on climbing roses, if that is possible in any given situation..

..what it does is interrupt the flow of sap so that dormant buds will break along the cane, which means more flowers... here's an example today on 'The Generous Gardener'..rose

Thanks, @Marlorena. When the new shoots come up, is it worth bending them too now, or just leave them until pruning time in the autumn?

@Janie B ... new shoots like to grow upright.. so it's best to leave them for a bit until they get longer .... unseen in the photo is a swag of rope at the top, going from one support to another, so I shall train any new shoots along that if I can..
..shoots can easily snap off... but it depends on how pliable they are and what support you have ready to hand..   those shoots should give me flowers, so I'll see how it develops after that.. but I shall be training them well before autumn..

I guess this will open very soon. And there are many buds on that rose.
Aphids are trying to conquer the world :(
I tried to put this guy onto them but it wasn't interested/hungry (probably already full).
So I've hosed them off instead. They will be back in a day or two, there are ants farming them.
The roses are now visibly growing every day and most of them have buds. Hopefully, we should get some rain later this week after this hot and sunny weather.

..great photos @edhelka … my camera does not take a good close up..

I think we're reaching crisis point in East Anglia.. I heard today some reservoirs are only 1/3rd full..   there is no heavy rain in my forecast for next 10 days, perhaps a light shower..   Saturday looks promising ...
