I went to our local garden centre today, for something I really loved there last week... Beales rose 'Sandringham'. Its fragrance is amazing (according to some sources, one of its parents is Mme. Isaac Pereire). I want to grow it as a small climber, really looking forward to it.

Sometimes I think I should rethink the front garden and plant only low growing, compact, 100% disease and weather resistant roses there.
I am doing a complete rethink, Edhelka for the same reasons. At the end of this season, I am removing all roses from my south-facing hot border, as the conditions are just not suited and I am fed up with the blackspot battle and poor bloom rate/bleached colours.

I am sticking to disease/weather resistant, glossy-leaved, repeat blooming floribundas in my Oranges and Lemons border, like Julia Child, Golden Beauty and maybe a Marlorena-inspired ‘Oranges and Lemons’ rose too.

I am also going to re-jig most of my east-facing front garden, getting rid of most of the DAs there. I am working on a list for that area and will post it for review/comments soon!

..this is 'Mme. Antoine Mari' today...  in my front garden.. as you can see, not a trace of disease... these old fashioned Tea roses are tough and resilient... very suitable for warmer climates too...the bloom form takes a while to get used to.. and the flowers don't last long, but it's always producing them..

@edhelka … do post photos of your 'Sandringham'.. I've had my eye on that one for a long time... Beales produce some great roses still...

@Marlorena I will after it reflowers (and of course later in the season too, if it does well). The blooms were past their best and I cut them before planting. It looked good a week ago when I saw it for the first time, I guess I was lucky because today when I went back for it, there was only one plant left (and they had 20% off today, so twice lucky :) ).

...anyone who likes yellow roses should consider 'Absolutely Fabulous'... it's one rose that does actually live up to its name I think.... 5 x 6 foot or more..

Ab Fab is my absolute favourite rose at the moment, @Marlorena, it has been blooming non-stop for months. A little paler than yours, but still lovely and it seems bomb-proof.

Lovely LEH, @Omori, what is the yellow flower?

Nollie thank you, that is Yellow Loosestrife.  Spreads but easy to pull up if it gets too big.
