Did get to allotment yesterday and will get back there later, weather permitting, it's dry here just a little blustery with some luck this wind will dry the soil a little.
Potted on some verbena bonariensis i raised from seed today
Well this morning finished planting the tomatoes and the last Aubergine. Sown a few chives, watered. Sat watching birds and gazing at the stump garden (it might be bragging but I'm really pleased with it) Then noticed that there were a few nice colours of Aquilegia in flower( all self seeded) It is nice to be able to just sit and look once in a while.🙂
Over did it a bit on Friday at the plots so just did easy pottering jobs at home all weekend. Need to get back there having been ahead I am getting behind again already.
Don't push yourself Allotment Boy, your body will tell you when to start again. Better to take a few days off and then return to the garden. It won't take long to get it back into shape.
Cleared MORE blanket weed from the pond, it is a weekly job at this time of year. Found a few dragonfly nymphs and some snails and also some water lily leaves which were hidden under the weed - looking forward to seeing the flowers in a month or two.
I potted up my big hanging basket, 3 pelargoniums, 3 bacopa. 2 diascias and some creeping jenny - all on a pink variation this year and put it into the growhouse to grow on for a few weeks. The tray of lilac coloured lobelia which I'd potted on seems to wilt alarmingly quickly despite regular watering (or because of?) so didn't use this. Repotted my new Spiraea 'Firelight' which does want to grow - can't plant it out until the alliums are over because they've come up where I want to put it - decisions, decisions!
