  • A better choice of apple trees at Belton GC @GWRS , that's where mine came from, the other GC had little to choose from.

Purplerallim , hello will have a look , thanks for info
  • 😁 @GWRS
  • Swept up another sack full of leaves, fed the birds, called the Robin to let him know so he could dig around.
Hubby is cutting back some of the Magnolia as it is being removed this winter to make room for the new bed.
Still waiting for the dahlia and others to die back so I can mulch the beds.

I have a bed of dahlias at allotment that had finished flowering and started to die back so cut them down and mulched last week  , they come out really early , other Dahlias are still flowering so left them for the frost to blacken
  • Just managed to plant some late daffodils - Tete a Tete before the heavy rain came yet again, feeling frustrated with this continual wet and windy weather.

O/H sanded bench down and stained it with teak oil ,we put in g/h to dry for a few days
Cleaned bird feeders and stocked them up
Finished putting pots in g/h for the winter now bench out
couple of more jobs to do in garden if the rain keeps off

  • It's just been leaves, leaves and more leaves here, but have decided to try and bag them up to make leaf mould  , will have to see if it's worth it in the long run.
  • We have been bagging leaves for 3 or 4 years now @purplerallim and find it a worthwhile autumnal garden job.  We put them in black bin bags - fill to top, pierce a dozen or so holes in each bag, empty a watering can into each bag, push the contents down the bag as far as possible, tie tightly and store the bags in an unused part of the garden. We try to leave the bags for 2 years, or one year if we are digging the contents into the veg patch along with well rotted manure.  Check which veg you are  planning to grow - some don't like a rich soil.
  • Was thinking of using it on the flower beds to help with clay soil @Guernsey Donkey2 , so may look and see how it is doing after a year.
