@GemmaJF Haven't seen one of those in a while- a classic now  :)
@Wilderbeast I agree about blocked jests the other way to avoid trouble is to use fuel stabiliser mixed into petrol though it can be hard to find. Honda used to do one not sure if they still do, unleaded fuel goes "off" quite rapidly in winter if it's sitting in the tank or in even in a can.

Then there is no carb to play with! I'm the opposite, we have meandering bits and isolated bits that need mowing in the garden, can't stand all the fuss with cables and was very happy to bin our electric mower when it packed up and go back to a light petrol one.

It did go back to the dealer 3 times under warranty in the first year. Kept surging until the governor kicked in, practically dying then surging again.

They changed the coil, 'cleaned' the fuel system, gave it back. Same. The third time it came back with the problem still there, I stripped the carb, unblocked the jet that was causing the problem, has run like new ever since.

Thought l was in the wrong thread for a minute 😁
Finished attacking an overgrown pyracantha with secateurs, loppers and a pruning saw. Managed to achieve it without getting scratched to death.
Emptied another pot of tulips, and potted up bare root astrantia, hardy geraniums and veronicas. Also potted on some box plants.
Tomato seedlings have appeared,  and so have shoots from the dahlia l overwintered in the garage.
    Deep joy .

Planted some hostas and ligularia skyrocket we were given. Finished planting lupins and aqueligia, more hollyhocks buts there's plenty more to go yet. Planted a Musa basjoo and the gave all the bananas a feed, there growing fast in this lovely weather. Sowed some Rudbeckia. Finally built a new garden day, it's perfect for viewing the garden.

Planted out the last of the lettuce. Re potted the white geranium and the second sowing of tomatoes . Planted the purple berry bush ( name escapes me) into final spot.
I dont know if you will remember last year I was saying it was nearly impossible to get London Pride as it had gone out of fashion,  well visited a friend late last year and she had some and some Lily of the Valley too, so here are my starters potted on today.

  • Not much gardening today but my potatoes and carrots have started peaking their heads up amongst the raised beds!! Cant tell you how excited I am as they were put in when covid started and i was so despondent...

Collected a bucket of pond weed and water from a neighbour to go in the pond. Planted out hollyhocks and hardy geraniums. Dug up and split a large harts tongue fern and planted it in the stumpery. Planted a date palm, it was very unhappy last year so this is a second chance. Moved a ligularia skyrocket that I found lurking in the wrong spot. Hoed the veg beds everything is coming up really well beans about 6inch tall

I re-potted an Italian Cypress into a tall lily pot, I keep it in an odd 1 ft gap behind an iron gate just to give a pop of green at the end of a rather bare corridor between the house and the garage. I've had it since 2014 and this is the first time I've re-potted it. It rather gets forgotten about, much to my shame.
