That's a lovely present @AuntyRach Very sweet of your MIL. I have been deadheading the shrubby salvias in the front garden, they are flowering their heads off. Also checked over the cuttings, the hydrangeas and penstemons seem to be doing okay, but the salvias seem a bit hit and miss. Very warm here, have been watering the pots as well.
Potted up some cotoneaster cuttings that we’re desperate, pricked our some spring cabbage and kale, trimmed back strawberries, harvested the squash so I could prep the beds for autumn planting, deadheaded dahlias, made another compost bin from a plastic dustbin and gave everything a good soak! Harvested some sweetcorn for lunch and picked a load of chillies! Done more than I thought! 😀
Dug out a small buddleia that's never done very much, and emptied a couple of pots of dwarf sunflowers that had done sterling work but finally succumbed to slugs and snails. Cut back cornus, cotoneaster and snow berry shrubs that were running rampant. OH trimmed back ceanothus that was heading into next door's garden. Chopped it all up for green waste bin.
Cleared out tomato 🍅 plants from g/h , last summers chilli 🌶 plant and an aubergine 🍆 with no fruit Major tidy up of garage ready for a new Electric Roller door being fitted on Friday
I too took out three of my tomato plants from the greenhouse as they were finished. Alot in there are big but not ripe yet. I have just had some flowers open on what should have been violas, only for them to be pansy.🙄 Did make two jars of tomato salsa for the daughter today, and a couple of trays of flapjack.
Not been doing much for a few weeks due ongoing shoulder problems. Strimmed around all the edges as the whole garden looked scruffy then mowed the grass. The neighbours brought there grass clippings around and along with ours they went in the compost. Carried on with the new path bringing round next doors bark chippings that they have removed.
