For today : pruned Black & Blue salvia, Penstemons, and lavender (because I missed the boat last summer). Planted properly a bare root rose shrub I had heeled in (Tuscany Superb). Brought all my started cannas in the sun for the day. Washed and replenished bird feeders. Fed roses, ericaceous plants, and hydrangeas. Tied in new Group 3 clematis shoots. Watched a couple of gardening tutorials on Youtube. And will be potting up seedlings all afternoon  <3
(I am leaving mowing the lawn to my husband, it's his treat, loves to do stripes  :D )
  • Went out to the greenhouse to plant peppers, squash and onion seeds and discovered that the gusty wind we had yesterday had knocked everyone off the shelves so I had pots and soil everywhere.last week I went out and found something had eaten all my tomatoes and half my cucumbers so bought some produce bags to protect them a bit...they also (rather fortunately) helped hold some bits in the pots so I at least knew what was supposed to be where.
So I put all that together, cable tied some mushroom crates to the shelves and put the pots in those. Fingers crossed that stops that happening again. Planted the seeds and then watered all the plants and trees etc.
Although its been quite wet the last couple of days the soil was still really dry

Also tied in group 3 clem shoots. I didn't cut as far down as I have done previously so the shoots are quite long already and a bit of a tangle - we'll see how this pans out. Potted up a Stipa gigantea and split a Phlox 'Blue Paradise' that has put on a lot of growth already. Moved a huge tub half full of soil (which is going to be for dahlias) onto the middle terrace. Decided against it. Moved it back.

More path work, ugh it takes time and patience but had a visit from our robin for the first time this year a bit later than last

Dug up loads of comfrey that I had lovingly planted after growing them from a packet labelled foxgloves.  Went to Ashwoods and bought a load of foxgloves and a couple of new Heucheras

Sorrry, @Allotment Boy, I must have missed your reply re the CATWatch device. May thanks for that, I'll have a look at it. Walked right onto a pile of you know what on our bark mulch path - you can't tell the difference sometimes. Ugh!!!

  • I had to go out today but I sneaked out and took a few photos as the spring planting is starting to wake up.

For me the image uploader seems to rotate some pictures randomly and the instructions for rotating them back don't work--sorry about that. The Pulmonaria 'Diana Clare' is a new addition, hence the small size.

Busy busy busy here 😀. The Double glazed units have heated up my big raised bed brilliantly so I sowed 3 rows of parsnips watered them in well and then put the glass back. Removed most of the old kale and planted onion sets. Made timber frames and covered the beds with scaffolding netting to keep the cats out.

Sowed red cabbage, celeriac, basil, marjoram and castor oil plants they all went into the propagator to get going. Potted on some Echincea and Dianthus. Started to harden off hemeracallis and iris that have been in the greenhouse all winter. Earthed up the bagged potatoes. Planted 2 roses, they were my 1st ever hard wood cuttings so very happy. Pulled out a heap of fennel plants that seem to have appeared over night behind the big beds.

    Think that's enough for 1 day 😊
