Had some last minute daffodils I was planning to put in the ground as it was sunny and rather warm… so I did. 2 hours later a flurry started. Seems like that’s it for outdoor gardening for us :D But there’s a big chance it will all melt within a week as it usually does..

I went out watering some plants, mainly in pots, that were very dry and then, of course, it rained during the night. No big deal though; those under cover still needed watering. Still have some bulbs to plant so maybe today?

Thank you @GWRS and Happy New Year to you - and everybody else.

It was so mild today I managed to prune another three roses.

Made the best of a wet day by planting up a container (in the garage!) with a hellebore with marbled leaves, miniature bird's foot ivy and pale yellow primroses.  Will I get it up the steps to the patio tomorrow?!

OH potted on a rather large variegated agave Americana; I couldn't even lift it. He escaped relatively unscathed, along with the plant. The festuca glauca that also needed re-potting (I split the other one I had) was a doddle comparatively speaking. I watered some newly planted shrubs, swept up leaves and moved a few plants. Had planned to do more but a friend arrived and "forced" us to stop, drink wine and eat cheese - how unfortunate  ;) .

Laid 2 slabs at bottom of garden and some edging bricks, plus gravel , sort of gardening
Thought I would do it while ground is easy to work

I raked the leaves off one of the main flower beds as bulbs already showing and pruned yet another rose, this time, a white Flower Carpet one. I have a very handy, very narrow (6") rake with a long handle, ideal for border tidying.
