Was going to allotment this afternoon but such a lovely sunny day , cut lawns and started edging them , have decided to leave the moss at bottom of lawn , as it’s green

Started mulching the front borders....very satisfying job, makes everything look so nice! Need to spread the job over several days though, my back won't cope!

Not much but cut grass and tidied edges where patio meets any borders. Buds coming along nicely trees and shrubs. I love seeing them appear and unfurl - an under-rated pleasure.

Started cutting right back my clematis 'Freckles' ready for the new fence. Surprised at just how dense the clematis was at the top of the trellis - no wonder it's sagging! Then I started on the bamboo. This was 4 plants in one small rectangular stone container (I know I must have mad). I thought it had died due to the heat last year but now there are some green bits.  I'm hoping if I cut it right down to soil level, some canes might come back up.

Took the covers off the patio set, dug a hole and planted a tree, checked to see if anything had had another go at my Cannas, turned the compost heap, did some pruning and raked over part of the veg patch. Which I hadn't done any of the above as back aches.

Lined smallest raised bed filled and planted cherry. Then helped hubby put guttering on side of summerhouse and drain into water butt. Back is playing up after so much this week. Tomorrow painting group so no gardening.

Sowed lots of radish for pickling, planted out more lettuce, moved some forgetmenot seedlings, spent a long time trying to design a new area around the pond and failed miserably.. back to the drawing board!

Hello everyone I haven’t been in here for quite a long while but have spent the last hour reading your posts, lovely to hear what you have all been doing recently.
I’m definitely behind with preparing for vegetable gardening this year but now that the weather is improving I’m hoping to get cracking over the next week or so.
Last year was a disaster for me. I had all my seedlings growing nicely in the greenhouse and went away for a week in May. We had sat the trays in water and a neighbour said they would try and pop in to check how things were but it was very warm whilst we were gone and we returned to lots of sad and burnt plants. What did survive were really poor so not much of a harvest at all.
On a happier note I was blessed with 2 new grandsons , one has just turned one and the other one will be one next month. I do help out looking after them on my days off work, hence why I am behind garden wise but I hope to nurture them in to Nanny’s little gardeners in another year or so 😀.
Im hoping to be sewing seeds this weekend to try and catch up with you all.
    Happy gardening 🌷
