Anyone done any gardening today? Part 5

  • You guys have been busy, had to read through 7 pages 👍

Went out and bought plant food, poo and play sand today.

Needed the play sand to cover some awkward bits of pondliner and put around some plants. Had to trim a bit of the liner away at the top of the beach as I'd accidentally covered up some bulbs. Found some frog eggs in the pond today, had this new larger pond for just over a year now and it's looking fine. Some of the flowering rush are sprouting, rummaged around for the amphibious bistort, no obvious signs.

Did further bulb planning for next year and planted some things I had delivered some weeks ago, not sure what I was waiting for as they were all sat on the ground where they were to go.

Tied in two roses, had to drag Summer Sweetheart back over from the neighbour's garden.

Dug up and potted a Rowan, just temporarily while I have work done. Trimmed some twigs away from my precious reverse bi-colour daffs, have no bin space so chopped them up and sprinkled them on the garden.

    Think that was all🤔

I spent 5 1/2 hours clearing up the veg garden, cleaning the inside of the greenhouse, clearing out the biggest cold frame and sowing broad beans in pots. It was a tip, hadn't cleared away the runner beans or tomatoes before winter.

  • Went to a garden centre today - I couldn’t believe how many people were there! Literally packed. That weather must have inspired everybody to do some planting. Bought a few trailing geraniums and petunias for a hanging basket - but I know that there will be more varieties later on, so tried to restrain myself. Will plant and hang that basket tomorrow.

  • Did a few bits yesterday..
Sieved two barrows of homebrewed compost and put down on two borders.
Moved a young dogwood, put a euphorbia  palustri in its place.
Dead headed a small section of mop head hydrangea blooms from last summer.
    Cut the grass.
Gave some Aliette to my Acer Shaina.
Checked and adjusted a couple of stakes/ties given the crazy winds that are building up round here.

Thankfully I did get the new baton's fitted on to wonky the sheds roof yesterday for extra security to keep the felt in place.

Then generally just pottered around doing nothing in particular.

The Echinacea purpurea'Magnus' seed sown two weeks ago have just started to germinate at home  :)

We have just run round the garden in the rain, taking in all the small pots, putting the incinerator in the shed, securing bits of wood and chairs etc. and closing down the coldframe and greenhouses. Winds expected to hit us at 1 pm - so we'll wait and see. It's mildly windy at the moment but nothing significant.

I went out and scattered some blood, fish and bone all around the borders.  Now it's started to rain so it should wash it in nicely.  It's very still at the moment but wind forecast later. Only a yellow warning here so not as bad as some.  Keep safe everyone!

Went out an bought BF&B, two cloche's, 12 strawberry plants and some weed sup-present membrane. Just need to find somewhere with cherry tomato seeds then I'm ready for when the wind and rain stops. Wind is getting up here and been raining most of the morning. Stay safe all.
