I am sure you won't be disappointed with your plug plants Hippophae - I am sure they will turn into lovely plants to attract many insects and be good to look at too. We have three little patches side by side, one with seed sown last year, mostly the grass has taken over with just the smattering of returned flowering plants, one patch was seed sown last Autumn and looks reasonably good, and the 3rd patch is the plug plants that we grew from seed and planted out this year and it is by far the most interesting, attractive and has more bees than the other two patches. I popped out early this evening to photograph how it looks now - the plants have shot up in statue in the past month or so.
After yesterdays rain the soil on the Allotments was finally workable everywhere. Lifted the winter Onions, shallots & garlic, all were throwing up seed heads so not a very good harvest, that ground had become so compacted it's a wonder they grew at all. Then did lots of planting, Courgettes, squash, outdoor cucumbers, more lettuce plugs, onion grown from seed, some Dahlias grown from seed (bishops children the free seed we got with the magazine). Hoeing, earthed up spuds, & general weeding. Finally picked Asparagus, and strawberries, I already have lettuce & rocket at home. Oh yes and watered the greenhouse of course. Need a sit down now.
Been raining for the last 48 hours but did manager to empty the water from the plant saucers and the plant trays before the plants drowned. The rain got to heavy so it stopped play
Went to allotment all the usual tasks plus planted a few annuals about the scented garden sowed a few more biannual's in the polly tunnel and potted up more perennial holly hocks and echinacea Magnus took out potted plants from trays and stood out to drain and emptied the trays of water, pulled the last of the onions left in from last year as they are starting to send up flower stalks.
The pumpkins have loved this damp warm weather and are escaping from the old bath now.

My poor garden is awash! The rain has hammered it, I'm just hoping that the promised change is coming at the weekend so it can recover. The delphiniums are bent over their supports, the potatoes are flattened and the roses and poppies have no flowers. 🙄😥
Had enough of this rain...every time I think "Oh look, there's a window of opportunity", it starts up again 😡 Or I have to go to work! I have stuff to plant and soil to dig, for goodness sake!
I managed a good hour outside digging up my iris and untangling couch grass from its roots. Looks SOO much better. Then I found vine weevils in my pots. Sigh.
No!! Hope your plants are ok? Put the nasty little blighters out for the birds 🐦
Rain has started again after a short reprieve. I’m glad of it, as annoying as it is. Our region is so dry we need it badly... not sure my outdoor chillies agree but hey ho! My pond has filled up again after a whole tier had evaporated, the autumn planted trees are happy and my water butt is full again! Roll on a bit of summer weather please! 😀
Full you say @Flinster I have managed to get out and take off a bucket full but the water butt still looks like a waterfall. We have main roads blocked and fields so waterlogged the new growth will be ruined. It's all or nothing here.
Yeah Lincolnshire has taken a beating hasn’t it. I’ve emptied the butt already and it’s refilled along with my large tubs. I’m 30 or so miles north of London we had torrential rain on Monday, much less yesterday though. It’s started again and heavy rain due tomorrow, but looks like it’s just showers after that.. we’ve barely had a drop of rain for weeks. It often rains around us but we get very little, so I’m pleased the ground has had a good drenching (although all in one go isn’t ideal!!)
