Pulled out one clump of foxgloves and dug out a white valerian that was in the wrong place. Had planned to keep it, but then changed my mind and chopped it up for green waste bin. I still have two others.
Was going to pull out another group of foxgloves as not that many flowers and after the rain they are leaning somewhat,  but there were so many bees still buzzing in and out, that l didn't have the heart to do it!
Planted 2 heleniums,,moved a small silver leaved shrub (name escapes me), did a load of deadheading, watered the hanging baskets. Definitely time for some lunch !

Tidied up the garden for a family bbq...I’ve come to realise that you don’t realise how untidy your garden is until you have people coming over.

Needless to say, it’s still a mess. Just a bit less of a mess.

    Weeding
    Feeding with BFB
    Watering
    Deadheading
    Lawnmowing
    Composting
    Sweeping
    Cleaning tables and chairs

And I have a new hose at last

Ha @Tin pot - I’ve always found it’s strange what people notice, and don’t notice. You can spend time carefully choosing plants, and people comment on your chairs or washing line!
I just had an evening potter (inbetween chasing off a cat who was making the birds nervous with it’s Hannibal Lecter face), so had a clip here and there and moved a few pots around. No need to water tonight.

Been clearing the old shed out to make room for the new greenhouse. Hoed between the rows of veg and put up the cains for the beans plus some weeding.

Not much today as we had mother to lunch and tea. Did call into allotment for her inspection :/  picked up cucumber, lettuce, spring onions for tea time salad and broad beans and carrots for lunch.

Watered greenhouse. Fed birds. Then dug up a mini mum split it and replanted it into two new areas. Made a fruit cage around cherry.
Went to pull some gem lettuce and found all the front ones had holes in most of the outside leaves. Had been fine for about a month till then. Pulled that row out and will re seed. When I took them in to sort and wash there wasn't a bug on them, so am blaming birds. They won't get near them again as they are now under the fruit net.

Finished my green bin parking area at last, apart from tweaking it a bit tomorrow - if I can stll walk!  And hurrah, the bins fit in the space (wasn't entirely sure I'd measured it correctly). Absolutely exhausted now so off to bed.

I helped plant out some (150) wildflower plugs in a new meadow today. Was expecting it to rain, but it didn’t thankfully. Really enjoyable getting familiar with native wildflowers whose names I have heard of, but never actually seen firsthand before now.

This meadow (formerly a patch of lawn that was really struggling to be a lawn) was actually sown with wild flower seed this time last year, but the resulting germination had not been as good as hoped for so an executive decision was made to get some live plug plants in to help fill the gaps of bare soil. Alongside the fifteen species of native grasses were some bird’s foot trefoil, lady’s bedstraw, red campion, small teasel, wild clary, cowslip, harebell, fox and cubs, wild basil and wild marjoram, etc. So hopefully be plenty for the insects and other wildlife.

Gave it all a jolly good soak with the sprinkler after planting to settle them all in into their new home.

@Hippophae    The most important thing in the pictures are the two cup's of tea or coffee must always start with a cuppa and a planning session 😊

Managed to get 3 pulmonarias, 2 hardy geraniums, 2 heleniums and a scabious planted, moved around plants in coldframes  and yet more pots washed. The forecast heavy rain hasn't arrived here yet (as at nearly 2pm), although it is spitting a bit, looks now like it will be around 5pm. Have a load of bedding plants in pots that are stored in big green trays, so have managed to get them under cover before they end up sitting in water. OH hasn't quite finished cutting the box hedging in the front garden, but we are hoping to get all the plants in on Wednesday, weather permitting .The soil in that bed is really dry so we need the rain - it's just a shame it couldn't have arrived after the planting had been finished !
