Finally planted out the Little Gem lettuce, note to self...must do better with the spacing 😂
Also, I'm doing a side by side test with peat free and peat composts to see if peat free is really as bad for seed germination as the local garden centres say it is...time will tell.
I swept the conservatory floor and window sills of dead flies. Last night I did about half my watering, must finish it today. Sat and had a coffee and watched "my" buzzards planing the thermals over their hill, I am envying their freedom. No driving for another 3 weeks. Saved my wattle by the skin of its branches, put it in a bucket of water for a couple of days. Just in time. My Gertrude Jekyll rose has been spectacular, though I say it myself!
Haven't done anything but water veg and greenhouse, as its raining, well drizzling, so got the weed whacker out and blasted some on the paths, don't like to use too much chemicals, and the rain stops me burning the garden down. 😆
Cold here today too. I've been to fill my water bottles, the water is gushing out the spring, so we're alright for moisture still, despite a dry month.
Not a must do, but who wants to spend a day with taking off paint and repainting a bench, when every day life hits back? I started half past 6 and finished now with 2 breaks to let things dry, and I am relieved that I have done it.
Our bench gave up during the heatwave last year and we were wondering why our trousers have yellowish wax stains on the bottom … The sunflower paint bought in Autumn was left in the shed but with the frost it was damaged. While painting I noticed the grizzly paint but realised too late that I shouldn’t have started in the first place. Next day, heavy rain and the paint went mostly off on its own. Again even more yellow stains on the trousers. Now, it’s corrected and I can really relax.
