I potted up lots and lots of heuchera divisions - far too many for what I need but I can't bear just to chuck unwanted plants/seedlings/offshoots away. I'll see how many survive until next Spring.
No gardening yesterday. Walked the dog and then went to see The Mousetrap with my daughter. Very enjoyable. Got in touch with the company whom I ordered a sprayer from. Very helpful lady. She arranged for me to take delivery of my sprayer and for the collection of a steel radiator to be collected/delivered on Monday. As we left for the theatre a sprayer was delivered. Does that mean a second one will arrive tomorrow? I have to wait all day for the radiator to be collected because they do not give a time slot, just it will be collected after 9.00am. The radiator was an incorrect delivery, not me going loopy and ordering something for which I have no use. I am not on mains gas, and have no central heating boiler or system.
No gardening as busy weekend. At the 5* Championship London Rabbit Show, not held in London now as priced out of there. As hubby is judging Angoras, Tans, and Havanas, I have to do his secretary job for the National Silver Club.
Trimmed back a couple of hedges, bagged up one of the compost heaps that was done and then shifted the other one into the cleared space. Cut off all the fennel seed heads. Tidied up bits and bobs.
Good time had by all. Out of 1200 rabbits of all types and colours, the Black Tan picked by hubby, which is then passed on to two other judges before the end, was made Best in Show @GWRS ! He is chuffed.
Lots to do before the rain comes here tomorrow. Getting the garden ready for winter now. Yesterday I gave the grass what might be it's last cut of the year (depends how the weather goes now) and cleaned up the patio and potting bench area. I have brought out the cold frame and put all my cuttings in ready to over winter them. Today I plan to clear out all the pots, give the veg beds a quick once over and get the garlic started. Just need to get the bulbs planted after that, but need to tidy/clear the flower beds first so I will see how the weather is in a few days.
I am so happy I planted that meadow (I'm using that term loosely, lol!) - the cosmos just will not give up and there are at least 4 varieties still blooming like crazy. I ceased garden chores in favor of finally getting back to a fence project I abandoned 3 years ago, but something gave out in my tractor so that project is once again at a stand-still. Back to transplanting I go! Looks like I have 2 weeks left before we start dipping below freezing. Hurry, hurry, rush, rush.
