I finished weeding my four terraced beds in the back of the garden and also pruned my
Osmanthus heterophyllus aureomarginata 'Goshiki' shrub - a really good dooer which I can recommend as long as you have patience!

  • My greenhouse will be emptied this weekend,  as it developed tomato blight as soon as the watering system was turned off. Up till then there wasn't a sign of it.

Started to clean greenhouse out , won’t get it all done today thou

Pleased to say the Tomerite peat free grow bags for the tomatoes did well , would use them again , also used peat free compost in cucumber pots and again it was fine , unfortunately I forgot to make a note of the make !

Tomorrow I’ll take all the spent compost to allotment and spread over beds for the winter
  • Just picked another bowl of Raspberries. Look at the harvest from last year and realised this year its double last year's.

Wish my raspberry harvest was double last year's @purplerallim! Having said that, next year's might well be better as they have gone under the path and colonized my asparagus bed which gets more sunshine. I'm going to let the two crops fight it out!

Did some more pruning of magnolia and a climbing rose, hoiked out the dwarf French beans, which might be a mistake - do I remember somebody saying they keep on cropping until the first frost?

@Lizzie27, the Raspberries will win as Aspargus is shallow rooted

Oh, I'm surprised at that as I always understood that asparagus had very long roots!

It will be interesting to see which plant does best although my monies are on the raspberries.

  • Cleared some paths of weeds. Picked up some fallen pears. Removed the poles that pea beans climbed up and then the rain came down so all stop

Started October well , on Sunday finished cleaning greenhouse , still got to clean outside windows thou
Pruned Bay tree & Jasmine bush & a bit of the hawthorn hedge , took out arose that had died

Yesterday put down 3 stepping stones on a flower bed so I can get to another section of
    hawthorn hedge for trimming

This morning , another stepping stone and dug up loads of yellow Phlomis and some herbs which had got out of hand
Currently rain has stopped play but hopefully get back out there later

    Happy Gardening 👩‍🌾

Had to rescue one of the last tomatoes in the greenhouse,  as its cane had snapped and it was on the ground. It still has quite a few Tigerella on it just ripening,  and with the predicted warm weather they may finish ripening. Picked a bowl of Raspberries,  and then remembered to look at the twisted hazel it had a jar full of nuts all ready to fall off, so a good catch.
